I doubt that. When the show started Wonhee was one of the worst contestants, she was street casted and had only like 1-2 months of training. She pulled a izone minju/niziu ayaka card(ridiculous growth rate through the show), there’s no way they predicted it.
5th Gen idols are waaaay more concerned about brand than they are about art and music. I'm just thankful for the veteran Kpop Idols still making music. Without them I think I would checkout entirely. Kpop is big because they made waves in the MUSIC industry.

I will never understand the Hype for this group??? They seem lacking.... Their song Magnetic is actually quite a bop, but is it worth a win? In fact when it's always the big4's artist being chosen to win has always been rigged because the company are well-known, so their artists gets to win almost all the time because they have a lot of fan-bases that has already been established among their artist. Hybe's BTS didn't exactly paved the way for Kpop, but you should thank 2nd Gen Artists from different companies cuz they were the FIRST ones who actually introduced kpop to the world. im disappointed for iroha too bc whilst she’s amazing in the lineup, she suits a mature/ hip hop concept so much more. shes probably the best female dancer at hybe but you can’t really tell from her performances bc the illit choreo has to be fairly easy for the other members

I wasn't captivated by this group. I knew nothing about their survival show or any of the controversy surrounding it. I saw Magnetic in my recommended for a few days before I finally decided to check it out. Their concept or debut song didn't stand out to me like other groups have in the past, and they reminded me too much of NewJeans. It's possible that I've just outgrown kpop at this point, because none of the 5th gen groups have stood out to me so far and it feels like there's just so many of them debuting now that it's hard to keep up lol. If ILLIT becomes successful though, good for them.

I didn't watch the survival show. I really enjoyed the song, but I feel like if a smaller company had released that song it wouldn't have gotten popular at all. Survival shows seem like just a popularity drive for PR. Things turn out better when the members fit their concept, complement eachother and get on well with eachother -- rather than being chosen eclecticly through popularity voting
Gotta be honest it's like this for every group. If they release a song from a smaller company of course they gonna be less popular than from the big3 (+hybe) company.

@@sumisum2813In my personal opinion, while txt does make TikTok’s with their songs (like every other group does nowadays) I don’t think that they making their music to cater towards that. They explore several different genres each comeback and show beautiful stories throughout their music and mvs. Every group has to consider if their song with be popular/marketable or not because that’s how they will actually make money. But I don’t think that txt is doing it to a large extent, the artistic elements still clearly shine through. Idk that’s just my opinion though ㅠ.ㅠ
At the end if the day these are just girls who are trying to live their dreams and present to us something special. I can't blame them for what the company may be doing but I will root for them as all the members seem genuinely sweet and pure hearted and definitely talented

I personally have watched the show and in every memory of Youngseo's performances, I never seen her doing any cute or dreamy concepts, and she tend to stick to one style - badass or girl crush. she even confessed once on camera she find it hard to relate to either Aim High or Scrum near the finale. Youngseo is literally one of my best candidates for my ideal lineup of ILLIT but its true that she might not be able to fit into something she personally found hard to conform it even if she wishes to
Good luck to them, sure they have the potential and talent but the kpop industry is saturated with too many of the same type of girl bands, it's hard for them to break through and stand out and offer something different

Im happy that there's nothing like this in Universe Ticket. Unis members are all from fan voting. except by the 2 members that have promoted because of their skill and pick by the judges. ❤
The criticism was that they very obviously had a girl picked from the 1st episode to the last they wanted to debut. It didn't matter that there were better performers than her she got the most screen time. The original rules stated that votes were 50% Kvotes, 20% international votes, 30% producers votes. When their It girl wasn't making the cut, they moved her during the last episode to the top, changing the rules to get her in the lineup only allowing 2 girls through Kvotes, and 4 through producers votes, no vote for international voters. They wanted to have then debut as a global girl group but cut out the global voters when their girl was not popular with most of the Korean and international voters. It was totally rigged. The 2 most popular girls, with both Korean and international voters were eliminated the episode before the final made no sense.

Yes, there are. Enhypen, txt, nwjs, svt and bts for me. Their raw vocals are pretty good. And then there are groups such as ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM except Minju and Yunjin respectively that REALLY need to work on their vocals :)
So many people on Twitter and my friends tweeted things like "Pre-debut ILLIT stan here!" or "PRE-DEBUT ILLIT STANS ASSEMBLE!!". I just want to state my opinion. I did not care when ILLIT was announced because the moment I saw the words "new girl group" and "survival show" I left. Every kpop fan should now that survival shows have to have SOME sort of rigging in it, and it all depends on how good they cover it up. This video only proves my point. I'm not saying their is rigging when companies alone choose but generally it's between 2 parties, not multiple.
When I saw ILLIT's debut song 'Magnetic', I was so shocked. I had to double check if it was their debut. They've released such a good song with such good choreography. I really enjoyed the song, it was so upbeat. It reminded me of NewJeans but that's not a bad thing, it means they have a lot of potential to grow like NewJeans did! ILLIT's members are so talented and pretty. I am excited to see more of their songs just by their debut. The future of K-pop for me. 😊

Though my family are big fans of BTS, LE SSERAFIM and ENHYPEN (all Hybe artist). We are gearing more to F&F's UNIS because we see & feel the humbleness of BTS on that group that we don't see & feel in illit.

Things were very rocky during their predebut days, but i hope people would give them a chance and realize their potential. I don't know why they would just debut idols who can't sing properly even after a survival show with so many good contestants. We all know for sure that it was rigged and maybe it's just Hybe now. Debuting idols who can't sing live. look at YG, they did take a lot of time but the group is ripping apart the stage every performance and saving k-pop. They can sing good, dance and visuals and the performance is also amazing. I hope Hybe can change one day and debut idols who are capable of everything.
Even though the current line up is the best for their concept. They wasted the other trainees time. They were more talented trainees that did not need to go through the psychological trauma of a survival show if the line up and concept was already figured. They didn't need that extra promotion they are from HYBE! So why not just debut them from the start without the show
not to sound defensive. there are benefits for the others to appear actually, because they get the chance to hone their skills further and nurture pre-debut fanbases, and its not a waste of time as what some people believe. for example, Bang Jeemin, who is eliminated from R U Next, is now going to take part in iland 2 and she already amassed a great following from her previous R U Next fans and the current iland 2 fans, and this will be beneficial for her to have some degree of support to help her debut, and probably the group in the long run. some of the eliminated trainees also, in their interviews, consider R U Next as a transit point for them to rediscover their new sides and enhance skills that they need to hone and improve.

The only survival show where I wholeheartedly voted was R u next after I-land. The show was going well until they decided to rigged the voting system at the last episode and those who haven’t watched the show yet you guys should go and watch it from start then trust me you would also feel bad for those three amazing talented girls who should have deserved to debut rather than some girls from this group
Honestly this just happens to HYBE groups because I saw some comments generalizing 5th Gen but there are other promising 5th Gen groups who are also working hard on their own way like UNIS and Baby Monster. Buuuuut, before some come back biting at me because BM is from YG, atleast they have music output even before their official debut like pre-debut songs. ALSO, UNIS! Calling these girls the future of kpop is only doing harm to the ACTUAL future of kpop (TXT, SKZ, ENHYPEN, BAEMON, KIOF, UNIS, NMIXX, ITZY, AESPA, TWS, etc..) They're 4-5 gen but still insanely talented. Also the future of kpop..sounds so similar..hmm (Isn't it enha's title?). HYBE earned money from first BTS then SVT, TXT and ENHYPEN and now they're burning it. They should focus on training their idols instead of debuting pretty girls with barely any skill. They have potential however the lineup could've been better
For the rigging part, I thought that too cause everything looked so fishy. Same as the "Unis" group, like barely any of the girls had a real reaction, they seemed like they knew it already to me. But beside this, I really really like them (ILLIT), I love this Bubbly/Magical kinda vibe, also Moka looks like a Lolita everytime I see her, she is so cute. But beside the cuteness, each member since the show, grow up so much, I remember Wonhee being really bad with expressions, but now she is doing much much better, she improved a lot. I also love Minju voice, I don't know but it hits me kinda different, her tone is unique. Iroha is such a great dancer, I don't know if it is just me, but she is the Maknae, but looks the oldest to me, her vibe just hits different, and she is only 15! Plus she has this HipHop vibe that always gets me. (I love the HipHop vibe) And then Yunah, what everyone thinks or at least I think, should be the leader! She has that leader vibe to me.
