@@yozefl434 when you are a teenager and are good at something you have a very inflated ego. A big ego helps freestylers be better at what they do. You are less likely to have had life kick you so many times that eventually end up crippling your free. I have seen it plenty
Proverbs 13:1-13 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence. He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. A righteous man hates lying, But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame. Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, But wickedness overthrows the sinner. There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches. The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke. The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked will be put out. By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom. Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
The Truth Yeah I'm totally spending all my time, because there's only 30 seconds in a day. Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense. The only reason this clown has any of you idiots as his "fans" is because you don't know the tool in real life. There's a reason he's been underground and bottom feeding his whole damn career, because he's a shitty person. Now go cry somewhere since I just insulted your hero.
@TheBull916 I totally understand that. I'm not saying punchlines arent important at all, they absolutely are. I mean Lyricism is arguably the biggest aspect of rapping. To me what makes Scribble Jam different from say King Of The Dot is the beat. So with the beat, the difference between the two is that you have a forced rhythm on you, giving you pressure to think quickly, in order to sound better. in KOTD, or most other rap battles, going acapella, gives you the time to go at whatever pace you want, which gives you a chance to build up a particular punch line that hits much harder. To me this kind of freestyle battle is different from a normal rap battle, so my expectations and perspective changes to what makes it more unique.
this is real battling not that shit on total slaughter, or smack, or url, this is way harder, over a beat and off the head. 90% of these dudes doing this corny acapella, 6 minute round battles wouldn't survive at scribble jam
@superlyrical101 i know what your sayin, but the "punk i'm flyer, you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer" was the hardest punchline there n it wasnt from illmac lol, dont get me wrong they both go hard this aint the first battle from either that ive looked up, i just think illmac says "anyways" a bit too much for my liking haha
@animosityDK and thats why you come off as a fan with a bias opinion you throw out all the good illmaculate did on the first beat just cause u think mac outshined him in the end
you know, mac lethal isnt that bad but Ive seen him in 2 scribble finals, 2001 and 2004, and in both he gave up. hey, if justice won that battle against thesaurus anything can happen
that was the semis. but in no way is illmac better then em. thats a retarted arguement. let illmac try to battle in 97 as a white guy and see what wouldve happened.
@cry12344 trust me i know how that feels man my dad is greek when i was around 10 i moved to athens and i came back to the states when i was 18 iv been listenin to hip hop for as long as i can remeber myself its in me theres nothin much i can do about it. just try n get the positive out of it and i bet when u are my age some kid is gonna be tellin you that he wishes he was around when grind time and whatever is goin down today was happening.
Oh yea, and Em WAS Mac before he got his deal Take a minute to think about that If someone walked up to Mac with a million dollar contract, you're telling me he wouldn't sign the fuckin thing and start writing nursery rhymes? That would be stupid...it would be selling out...but it would be stupid...imagine being able to buy your mother a house and a car and tell her she never has to worry about finances ever again...or stay broke working a 9 to 5 for some 'principle'
You make some valid points but at his best, Em was one of the most creative, original, talented guys. It's easy to say he made it on Dre's name but do you think Dre would have signed just any untalented idiot? Em spit for him over the phone and that sold Dre. Dre didn't know he was white until they met face to face AFTERwards and he was like um ok this poses a bit of a problem as there were zero legitimate white rappers selling albums. Not cool to dismiss some1 that likes Em as a Top40 slave.
Not looking for an argument here but as someone that is a student of Hip Hop and emcees, there's no denying that Em is amongst the top in terms of his flow and multi syllabic capabilities. The problem with him is he chooses to rap about stupid shit as opposed to something meaningful but what the hell, it was an escape for him. Listen to Rock Bottom (all of Slim Shady LP actually) and tell me you're not impressed as a fan of Hip Hop. He sucks now but was on top at that time. Peace.
You have no idea what you're talking about. The market was never "looking for" a white rapper. That's just inane. He wasn't even close to being the first white rapper. His skin color is what kept him from getting signed for so long in the first place. He was in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" column before Jimmy Iovine got hold of his demo. Dr. Dre thought he was black when he told Iovine to "find him." Non-pill zombie Eminem is phenomenal.
I guess its really all about what ur into. If you just wanna hear funny punchlines, stories and jokes than written are good. I pefer the skill and witt that comes from real freestyling. Hearing that joke get flipped or calling someone on fuckin up or acting weird, while there swiching up their rhyming patterns takes talent and quick thinking. I Pefer the art over the gimmics. Under Rated: NoCanDo, Franco, Ex-I, adeem
@josevanreyes nah you're wrong. first off this is a freestyle battle and it's actually a pretty fucking incredible one. have you even seen illmac's recent battles? how are they better than this? i thought it was generally agreed that his scribble jam performance this year and maybe his WRC performances were the peaks of his career that he'd never be able to top.
people arguing mac lethal shoulda won are just some straight fanboys. through the whole battle he struggled to stay up with illmac, and he even pointed the win to illmac before the announcement, gave him mad props, and even said in his raps "got damn please win that $2000 i dont want to battle anymore!" he officially lost when he said that.
are you fuckin kidding me. did you watch where mac lethal was asking the crowd for topics because he couldnt even think of anything relevant. mac lethal is a prop comic when it comes to battles. you bought my cd an got a autograph. (pulls out pen from pocket). Battle vs okwerdz take this 20 dollars (pulls out 1 dollar bill from pocket).
This is one of the worst battles i've ever seen but sadly high quality for scribble jam.. I choked in the first round in 2004.. it was embarrassing but really these clowns running around in circles makin terrible jokes while skipping hahah .. scribble is joke when Reef The Lost Cauze lost to Duece 2 liter scribble became meaningless.
Are you talking about Illmaculate? how is he anything like eminem? Why does every 12 year old think every battle rapper is trying to be Eminem at least they usually say some white guy is trying to be him you actually called a hispanic eminem even thou they are completly different
I do believe Mac should have won this. His flow is way tighter than Ill's, although Ill had some nice punchlines. My favourite part was when Ill ripped up Mac for being repetitive, and then in the very next line repeated a line of his own lines from earlier. Kind of a double standard.
Ok, on the first beat, I gotta give it to Illmac. He was more original and rode the beat better. But seriously. From the second beat on he had nothing. Mac killed his ass after that. I thought this battle should have gone to Mac Lethal honestly.
Yeah, I suppose if you want to INVENT a meaning for it you can...but you can do that with just about anything. He writes shit like this all the time, though. "The paint on your portrait hardens/With a face that resorts to jargon."
StillAware, I agree Illmac won, but it's closer than you think. Illmac killed it for sure but I think Mac Lethal was more original and off the top. That's some great Illmac shit tho. Two of my favorite rappers going head to head, can't beat it.
@lawlaxdude Apparently you only saw the pancake video. Mac has done tons of shit. He's put out probably 7 or 8 full length albums. I've been listening to him for about 4 or 5 years. I've never even heard of Illmaculate.
While spitting a pure freestyle, emcees will do that...for me it's the n-word (which I really gotta get under wraps but what the hell) You're basically trying to give yourself a second or two to come up with more lines
Yeah, he got popular because he was a _talented_ white rapper with something to say who was signed to Aftermath. If it were just a matter of being a white rapper, why isn't Asher Roth even a fraction as popular as Eminem?
Good point. I guess I'm thinking is that Mac's freestyle is better, but as far as a battle goes, Ill probably did win it. I still think Mac has a better flow. The 11:11 album kills by the way.
@tdeck1991 PLUS he's toured with Atmosphere and Sage Francis. His songs have been used for major televised events. Fuck, he used to be on rhymesayers, till he wouldn't sell out for them.
They are nothing alike have you ever heard eminem freestyle? Other then 8 mile everything in that movie is prewrittin but watch the scibble jams of em and then TRY and compair ill to em.
Yeah...talking about "mental cravings for pencil shavings"....that's keeping it real, son. The majority of Mac Lethal's songs are him rhyming for the sake of rhyming.
this is wierd illmaculate got 5 raps and mac lethal only had 4 he shouldn't of rapped last, it should have been over after mac lethal rapped his last time verse.
everyone swears thats eminem is some kind of fucking god. he aint. listen to some more fucking music, i guarantee he will drop to the bottom of your top 10.
I definetly think Mac Lethal should have taken this one, but then again Ill almost always rep Rhymesayers over the opponent. Minneapolis is the shit baby.
HAHAHA "you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer" ok im totally impressed by both these guys rhyme skills, very very dope.... but for real enough about your ass hairs.
@umpaloompa66 Yeah I do! But what I said was a lot of the people that like just started liking him after that video wouldn't have known him. I mean he's a pretty much underground rapper. And most of the people that like him because of that video probably wouldn't have found him on their own.
@@YoungChia You know, I don't even remember writing this comment :D. I've watched a fair share of new battles the past few years and I do kinda get it now, it's just a very different format that I had to get used to. I'm not sure how I would compare the lyricism since spitting a freestyle to a beat and doing it acapella are very different things. I won't deny that the new generation houses lyrical monsters though XD
