ILOCOS EMPANADA Step by Step

Ilocos Empanada is one of the most popular Filipino street food.It has a super crunchy exterior, made from freshly rolled dough of rice flour. Filled with papaya or cabbage, monggo (mung beans) and garlic longganisa (pork sausage), and egg. Deep fried in oil until it turns into a crispy shell. A must try savory snack.
INGREDIENTS
*EMPANADA Filling:*
3 cups shredded papaya ( you can substitute cabbage)
1 cup monggo/ mung beans
11/2 Tbsp iodised salt to soak papaya
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
5 to 6 pcs garlic longganisa
1/2 tsp seasoning (Magic sarap or Aji ginisa)
2 pinch salt mix with monggo and papaya mixture ( adjust according to taste)
1 Egg white

*DOUGH INGREDIENTS*
3 cups rice flour (adjust as needed)
1 Tbsp Achuete powder
1/2 to 1 tsp seasoning (magic sarap or Aji ginisa) OPTIONAL
2 Tbsp Vegetable oil
2 cups of water plus more (adjust as needed)
Yield : 6 to 7 pcs for large size
8 to 10 pcs for medium size

Sa freezer lng po overnight tapos ithaw bago iprito, wag po sa fridge kasi magmomoist po magiging soggy ang empanada thanks po
