I grew up with the Beatles music & had most of their records. They were part of the British Invasion. You can't go wrong with any of their music. They had so many great songs in the 60's-70's. "Yesterday" is one of my favorites & is one of the most recorded songs in history.

I can still see Paul sitting on the edge of the stage in San Diego, June 16, 1976, and singing this song during the Wings over America tour.🎶👏💞 edit: I can also fondly remember dancing with my husband to a club band who played "our song" from The Beatles, on Guam, on our 1st anniversary 1/10/1971, it was 'Here, There and Everywhere' from 1966.✨🎶💖

I got my first Beatles album when I was 10… In 1963. Meet the Beatles. They have been a huge part of my life since. Never got to see them in person. I had tickets for Shea Stadium, but my family went out to visit relatives on a farm in Illinois… I lived in NYC at the time. The thought of missing the Beatles for a bunch of pigs and goats did not make me a very happy camper. A few years ago, my son got tickets for me and him to go see Sir Paul, and it was a dream come true.

In eight years, The Beatles had 20 #1 hits, and 34 Top Ten hits. No other band has ever come close to this. I'd recommend you get "1", a compilation released in 2000. It has all the songs that went to number one in order. It really shows their progression as musicians and song writers. My only complaint is that some of their covers that went to number one aren't on it; "Twist & Shout" being one of my favorites.

As I've told many, the Beatles are the sum of all music. They are the Alpha and the Omega. Everyone who came before the Beatles were trying to be the Beatles. Everyone who came after the Beatles are trying to be the Beatles. If I were going to put anyone up against an intergalactic competition of singing entertainers, I would present the Beatles. And we would win.

I dont know if they are the best ever. That is up to everyones own preference. They are still one of the greatest during the 60s-70s. I had heard their number 1 album one day after checking out old cds at my grandparents house and I fell in love instantly. They are probably one of the bands if not THE band I know the most about (songs, albums, bandmembers, dates, ...etc.). They were so good in the 10 years they were playing together they became worldwide celebreties, had movies made, became recognised by royalty, made millions(which was a whole lot more now if converted over), and toured in Europe and the United States. They have their own museum exhibit in England. They are one of the only bands to get their own rock band game and they came out wayyy before any video games were around. They are super famous. Even if many young folk dont know their music today they have likely heard the name.

Even for people that don't like or even have ever listened to the Beatles, there is a better than even chance that the musicians they DO like, were influenced by the Beatles... Even if they aren't even aware of it. They did so much innovation in the recording studio, that if you record music, you're likely benefiting from something they created/discovered.

In the album version it is just Paul and a string quartet, which is powerful by itself. That is a live concert version that they sometimes played as a group. If you find the live Ed Sullivan clip, it has just Paul on acoustic guitar with strings in the background, and that sounds lovely.

While browsing in a local Goodwill I spotted a Beatles VHS tape of an early concert and it was this concert. After they had played a few songs they turned Ringo's drums 45° to the right, along with their amps and played a few songs to those people. They then repeated the process until they had gone a full circle so they had played to the whole audience and no one was left out. This wasn't planned, but was spontaneous when John left the group to face those on his right. That prompted the rest to follow suit and move their amps, while Ringo moved his Ludwig kit.

This song also illustrates the musical genius of the band despite how young they still are. The original was recorded in the key of F but that's not a very friendly key for guitarists so McCartney tuned his guitar down one whole step so he could use G shapes and get that moving bass line. I mean, who thinks of stuff like that?

Apart their amazing and diverse musical creations, they really changed the way of life in the world, at least in Europe, and society in general changed completely after they succeeded and without them there wouldn't be all the other groups and even singers as we know them today!
