to all that have wondered I am still big in hay for the mushroom farms. I have cut back a lot because of rising cost of production and falling hay prices. I do not feel good about the way I and others that produce hay are being treated. but that's the nature of people that are not farmers. the feel like we are sub par to there superior education. and in some cases they are correct in thinking that way there are some farmers that will just out up with going broke so the company they deal with can get huge profits. I am the master of my own destiny I will move away from them and do what's better for me and my family. the arrogance of some of the people in the mushroom growing industry is amazing and I will not deal with turds that think we should just do what they want and get paid when they want to pay us and what they want to pay. I have negotiated good prices and then been docked for moisture that doesn't exist in the hay. been told my hay was tooo green and it looked like it was just baled in march! well I have had enough of that nonsense and I have killed a lot of hay and put in corn. this coming year I will be killing another 500-1000 acres of hay and putting in row crops. I will be planting hay crops in the future for good hay production and the mushroom farms will get what gets wet or is sub par for that market. anyway if your this farm watch the video to the end I work on the combine.

Hi from Wes. Oh the joys of baling on steep country (lol). I’ve baled country that nobody else would bale because they were afraid of it. It was so steep that my 4wd 150 hp 8 ton tractor in diff lock mode spun all wheels so I had to back down the hill. Great fun that exercise was. Best wishes for the coming harvest.

Those eagles are magnificent animals! To see them close like that doing their business is a highlight of the day. Few months back we saw how eagle took a goose straight from the air .. some 50-60m away, now that was a sight to see!

I have a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali with very low milage (less than 15k). We were about to take a trip from WI to Fl and a week before the trip, the fuel sending module (?) failed. They could not find the part anywhere in the US! I worked with the dealer & the regional GMC manager. They lent me a new 2023 Buick Enclave (w/ 2 miles on it !) to drive to/from FL without any cost (besides gas) to me. They were able to get the new part installed about a week after we returned.

@rallyscoot

For the baler parts.. Make more storage in the big shed where you want them. Place some shelfing,. If you order parts, order more quantities, and keep them on these shelfs. Always keeps those parts in your own environment, never relay on dealerships how much stock they have laying. If you have these parts on you own ground, then can order pick them which you need. And keep this stock updated. Some parts used is parts needs to order. Parts availability is the best to do with less waiting time. Organizing is key.
@davidthorne2129
@davidthorne2129 9 месяцев назад
He already does that mate. All farmers keep a stock of wearing and commonly broken parts. But you can’t keep a stockpile of parts for a machine you don’t own. Those parts are first time order.

I hope you can tarp the hay so when the barns run short hold your price paid on delivery with a backload of mulch free. You can bet they are running farmers out of business. Good luck with the new combine, great weather and better grain prices.

Better way is touch brake peddles. This activates trailer brakes and stopping jackknifing to whole setup. Know this from 30 plus years driving these big balers in hill country

The problem with the Ford sounds like what we call trailer hitching. You probably know the feeling, driving with a load of corn. Sometimes the issue is the speed sensor and it will or won't throw a code.

The dealership can’t officially do the work without a code being thrown. They also have to let the “engineers” log in remotely on some things. They will also pay the techs 8 hours labor to search for anything to void a warranty and the service advisor will talk casually to the owner to find a warranty denial. I learned as a diesel tech for a certain brand how to force codes for when the techs and engineers wanted to screw a working man on a fuel system job when it wasn’t their fault. But they would warranty new motors and trans for their friends and “good” customers just to be nice.

Question on the mushroom barns, are they substituting something else for the hay or is there more competition with more growers or are they just beating growers down on their hay production? I don’t follow mushroom sales so I don’t know if there’s revenue is down on mushroom. It just seems to me that the hay business for mushroom barns is a very niche business that this hay would bring premium prices for hay. I have looked for mushroom growers in my area and there aren’t any.

Factory warranties are to the point if there’s no faults. They won’t pay the dealer. If you replace it on a gut feeling and your wrong. You as a tech get to pay for it.

I don’t understand why people get so bet up about where stuff gets made? Imagine what a combine would cost if you were making all the bits in the USA ? You also have to remember that most new Holland combines are sold as you guys say out foreign. North America which includes Mexico and Canada accounts for less than one third of case new Holland sales annually by value and well less than 1 one quarter by volume
