I just wanted to let you know....You are probably this best teacher on you tube, seriously, your voice is calm, you don't jabbber on and on, you explain everything completely and in order for anyone to understand and you don't leave people wondering about the process. I just want to say thank you for being a wonderful teacher and a generous human.

I only got 3 minutes into the video but I had to stop and say THANK YOU for the comment about only using art you have the rights/license/permission to use. SO many people, especially "mommy crafters", just go onto Google or pinterest and take take take whatever they see. Google/Pinterest is not a free clip art search engine! I'm an artist and I've had people take my work without permission and use it in ways I'd never agree with. It's already upsetting to have work taken and reuploaded without crediting but it's even worse when folks make money off it. Being an artist is not easy or lucrative! So when one uses work that's not their's for profit they're stealing plain and simple. 🙊 So yes thank you very much for encouraging people to source their craft art responsibly!

Atlas 51232 I don’t recall seeing anything against personal use. “Mommy crafters” as she phrased them sometimes have blogs, channels, or other social media from which they profit either as a side hustle or in some cases full-time. That’s when it gets irritating to see your work (sometimes paid commissions) taken and used as some kind of clip art for a craft they put behind a paywall.
@scadoodle3487
@scadoodle3487 4 года назад
@Sashen La Espada I mean, I am an artist, too, and when I do commissions I have included in my contract acceptable uses for my work to try to avoid people misusing my art (say to slap an illustration on the banner for a hate group or something. I do kid-friendly art, but the world is messed up). It's really not uncommon for artists to have restrictions in how their art should be used. Most artists also use the internet and public sites like Pinterest like a portfolio - as a way for people to find them. Just because a painting is hanging in a museum doesn't mean you have the right to do whatever you like with it. It's still the artist's intellectual property (unless it is in the public domain). So yeah, I get the op's frustration.
@rebeccabigalke8808
@rebeccabigalke8808 4 года назад
Sashen La Espada using ANY image you do not own the rights to is illegal. It is theft of intellectual property and prosecutable in court and you can be fined up to $5000.00 per image EACH time it is used. Maybe you should read the terms you accepted when you joined a free site like Pinterest or RU-vid.

Garnet , I’m so glad that you spoke out about this! I have had other people’s names put onto my artwork and poems way to many times in my life, I know just how you feel and it’s more than just frustrating. I wouldn’t classify those types that do it however, it’s a way far range of people. ❤️

I love your tutorials! They are lengthier than other tutorials, but you describe everything in so much detail as you're doing each step! I can't stand watching tutorials with vague instructions that only show parts of the process. Your videos take out all the guess work and make it so easy to follow along! Thank you so much for this tutorial you have mo idea how much easier and better quality it's going to make my resin jewelry. In case anyone else is following the steps and trying to troubleshoot, I found that it's important to make sure the resin isn't spread too thin on any one area of the design, and of course, to mix well like she says in the video. I realized the spots where ink wasn't transferring on my failed attempts felt very thin, and so I added just 3 more drops (1 soft 2 hard) to cover the whole design more evenly and it came out perfectly! For reference my design is like 1.5 by 1 inches

I actually ran across this same thing by accident a while back when I tested UV resin on foil tape. When I put it under the UV light, the resin shrank a bit when curing and pulled away from the surface and took all the colorant (I used Sharpie marker - which I don't suggest because it ran under the UV light). I used the resin on another foil piece colored with a different type of ink and it left a great texture in the resin because I had inscribed a design into the tape. I am going to try it again later but, instead of foil tape, I may try paint or ink on some Apollo write-on transparency sheets I have on hand.

I tried this and it worked great! The only thing I decided to do differently was leaving out the soft resin, since the semi-flexible softer resin layer seems to separate from the hard resin layers just like the flexible transparency separates from both kinds of resin when u bend it a bit. if I use hard resin for the image transfer, the next layers of hard resin really bond to it and there's no flexing and separating. I'm guessing totally coating these pieces in hard resin would keep them from flexing and separating too (even when using transparency or soft resin inside). I'm still in awe over how awesome halo glitter looks behind toner printer colors! Simply beautiful!
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox 5 лет назад
missvickie1975 I’m glad that it worked for you. If you mix the soft and the hard together to make your transfer, you will have no issues with the rest of the process. The hard resin I end the process with bonds perfectly with the mix used for the transfer.
@missvickie1975
@missvickie1975 5 лет назад
@@ThinkingOutsideTheBox i did mix the soft and hard, creating a semi-flexible layer that was able to wiggle free from the 100% hard resin layer just the same as transparency plastic does when u bend it. .. but of course, i didnt totally coat the piece in hard resin before seeing if the soft/hard mixed layer would separate from the hard layer, because i was testing it on purpose. I find 100% hard adheres to 100% hard better (for me anyway)... that could just be the brands too. But i am still super excited to have found ur video on resin image transfers first... because you have awesome glitter and mica tricks too. Your work is beautiful and inspiring.

I was doing my research here on RU-vid for tutorials on how to use UV resins and this is an absolute genius idea. Would you be able to add another transfer print to the back of the wings so that if you were looking from both sides you would see the wing design, but still see the glitter through both front and back? Thank you.

Joanne Carroll Thank you Joanne 😊 I saw that vid, very pretty butterflies However she didn’t create them by transferring an image to the resin. She simply domed photo paper and film. Only problem with doming the film, in time it could separate. The end result that I give is all UV Resin, the film in my technique is only used for the transfer. 😊

Thank you for the wonderful video! I tried with the ratio with 2 to 1 and it works! I bent the resin like you did and I found it hard to control the quality of the image transferred to the resin, some ink might still be left on the film. Then I found out that, when I cut the edge of the resin from the film, a little part of the film along the cut edge is already separated from the resin, and it looks a little white, so I simply pulled the film off from that edge, in this way the image is transferred perfectly, and the bending process is not necessary anymore.

As an artist, a photographer and jewelry artist, I want to thank you for bringing up the issue of not using copyrighted images. It's a faceless crime, but it hurts every artist that you steal from. Yes, it's theft as the artist doesn't receive the proper income for all of their hard work. Never just screenshot or right click and save from search engine results or a website. If you want to use an image as an example to show someone an idea then it's fine, but NEVER use an image to print, modify, or use in projects, especially if you sell them, without permission and/or paying for the right to use it as she has done here. It's also a good idea to tag or reference the artist whose image, or whatever, you used to make your piece. It helps to bring business to the artist besides just being the right thing to do. Digital theft is still theft.

I just got my new laser printer and have ordered the soft uv resin, which will come tomorrow. I also have the printable wing sets (all of them :) ) and are only waiting for the transparent film to arrive this afternoon. OMG, the printer is so much better than my inkjet printer. I can hardly wait to get these wings made into earrings, broaches and necklace components. When we get the first ones finished I'll post a photo to your FB page. Keep your fingers crossed.

I enjoyed your video. Those butterfly wings are gorgeous 😍 I love butterflies. They turned out so good. It's a lot of steps involved but definitely worth the end product. Great job😍

Does the inkjet ink come off onto the resin also? I am having trouble with the laser printed transparencies holding the image and not transfering to the resin. Thank you

Thank you for this amazing tutorial! Can I please ask, why do you need to use both the soft and hard resins? Sorry, another question. Could you use a black alcohol ink marker or black sharpie to do around the edges of the wings?

I agree, these are gorgeous!! Thank you so much. I hope to try this out, perhaps over the holidays. What kind of worksheet are you using on top of your table there? It almost looks like one of those bendable cutting boards.
