In this clip, Iman Shumpert, shares his thoughts ahead of the Conference Finals match-ups between the Heat vs Celtics and the Warriors vs Mavericks. Ultimately, the former NBA champion predicted that the Warriors and Celtics would advance to the Finals in June. As the conversation continues, Shumpert reveals why he hated the Warriors so much during the old Cavs vs Warriors rivalry in the 2010s. He explains that one of the main reasons he disliked the Warriors is because of the way in which they shot threes as opposed to playing basketball in a traditional manner.

What’s funny is how Steph and Klay are two of the best shooters of all time, yet this post season they’ve outscore their opponents in the paint and won the rebound game. The threat of them shooting threes leaves open lanes for easy layups. It’s brilliant team basketball and it’s beautiful to watch and I’ll be ad when those guys retire. Also, Shump is high as shit in the interview lol

Yeah, BUT some of these players need to understand that when that 3 isn't falling, there's nothing wrong with dropping a midrange shot or a layup to get your rhythm back and see the ball go into the hole.

Warriors are so dangerous because they switch from the 3 to the 2 so quick that it changes the pace of the entire game where other teams literally “die by the 3”. Warriors manipulate the game to their benefit

It's funny how when Mark Jackson said the same thing about the Warriors, particularly Steph, how he ruined the game of basketball, people said he was hating on the Warriors, he was bitter. But he was actually giving Steph the highest of compliments because he truly changed the game. Now people like Shump says the same thing and people all collectively go "True"

@@Nurunigo I'm not sure I understand your comment. My comment doesn't address the mid range shot. The coaches used to drill in us the closer you get to the basket the higher the percentage so I would always work to get layups...So by that logic the mid range shot is a higher percentage shot that the 3 point shot.

@@Nurunigo Teams don't go for layups and threes because they are higher "percentage" shots, they do so because the analytics shows that it is a more "efficient" shot. I think you are conflating the two. Pretty sure the closer you are to the basket the higher the percentage will be.

Gsw is a different style of basketball because they play team ball, the ball is mostly passed around multiple times before a shot is taken. Their bench is an actual bench squad and the star players don't have to score a bunch of points for them to win.

Warriors didn't ruin anything. They just make everybody have to face that they're not as good at a lot of things as they thought. "don't shoot 3s right away"-you can if you actually really good at shooting 3s "the Warriors, all they do is shoot 3s, it ruined the game"-There go the Warriors driving down the lane, hitting backdoor cuts, moving the ball "the Warriors are a finesse team"-There they go playing good intense team defense. The Warriors really are a fundamentally sound team that plays team ball and looks to use every option. Inside, post up, outside.

That's the funny thing about the warriors they are middle of the pack in 3's attempted per game. Everyone assumes they jack up 3's all day when they really don't like allot of NBA teams. Look at this Dallas series they have done the majority of there damage in the paint.

I used to hate the Warriors for the same reason but since they’ve been humbled they are a very respectable team and I like the way they ball very orchestrated offense and moving without the ball, it’s a beautiful thing!

It works FOR THEM, that team and those specific players. Aside from Trigga Tray, these new up and coming stars aren’t necessarily throwing up 3’s left and right. Giannis is the best in the league right now and he’s just now getting respectable from the 3.
