31 aint old, young people have this skewed way of aging, like I am 30 but like the 30 years of my life 15 years i spent developing. Obviously responsibilities pile up in your thirties but i feel as if my 20s were a developing phase and now in my 30s you can lock in and prosper. Everybody will age eventually.
I agree lol the age comparisons are stupid but I’ve long realized many “underground rap” fans are literally in grade school still. Not that it’s like BAD that they are… It’s just their frame of reference for how they speak of aging.
Age does not matter when giving your opinion. The whole underground fanbase is exactly what the old heads in 2017 said they were. 7 years later, different people, same non sense lol. At some point we got to look at the common denominator in the equation.

im 26 and i love a lot of the new wave. there are a lot of unique people and unique sounds coming out. i think its really cool when young people create things that they think sounds good and it doesnt matter what other people think. thats part of the appeal, is the novelty. i also think that being young and just making shit that your brain needs to get out may make unique sounds but it also means that it will be rough around the edges. things need time to develop finesse. with all this being said i also think theres a lot of fanboying over artists that fit this unique and kinda good but mostly trash sound.
im 30 and I love underground music BUT he's right a lot of these dudes just don't try anymore. it doesn't have to be super lyrical and deep but at least try.
I think the wrong part of the underground is getting most of the audience. There are some great artists in the underground…however there’s definitely tons and tons artists you should overlook purposely

Sometimes young artists give you that energy to go crazy with their music
