International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva says it's a "very difficult time for the world economy" and that Africa can be an engine for global growth. Speaking to Bloomberg's Tom Keene on the sidelines of the IMF World Bank Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Georgieva commented on the Israel-Hamas war, saying that her "heart bleeds for the people of Israel and civilians in Gaza" while noting that other institutions are better positioned to negotiate on the war as the IMF must remain neutral so it can provide economic advice to all members.
