I liked the whole thing except the last point... that seems to contradict the whole idea to discriminate one country or region based on generalization( how can be sure one is sick or a terrorist)?
This position is fine if you are solely interested in economics perspective. What about cultural consequences? Open broders and see your entire culture decimated and your libertarianism gone with it. Also there is no single immigrant group, there are many different immigrant groups, some will integrate some will not.
wait... I don't agree on the following point. Immigration doesn't bring more crime because the people that are likely to more out of their country ar those pople that would have economic benefit. first of all this is a really bad argument. put that aside. secondly economic benefit also occurs where the crime is more profitable. thirdly it is usually the lower classes that move because they do not have a future in their own country.
Well as he stated, "immigrants will bring more crime" is a consequentialist argument. The only thing you need to do is to look at the data and see whether or not immigrants do in fact bring more crime, and the data is absolutely clear that they don't. And philosophically, we already deny the idea that one group of people being *on average* more likely to do x or less likely to be y is *not* grounds for discrimination. I can't deny service to all men in my grocery store because they're more likely to commit crimes. I can't only hire asian people to my law firm because their average IQ is higher. Even if immigrants *on average* WERE more likely to commit crimes, it would not be okay to treat them differently than we treat our own citizens due to demographic data. If we did, virtually every person on Earth would be part of SOME group that had *on average* a less favorable characteristic than another group and could be denied service, entry to a country, or human rights through no fault of their own.

I really, really, really had to push myself to listen to this guy talking about the history of human endeavor. Economic? 0.0000 Understanding immigration 0.00000 Cultures 0.00 And everything you could throw in. I really wonder what kind of school he went to. One little story I like tell you about Immigration. Just look at it this way. Yesterdaye arly in morning (5am)i went to the opening of store that had ones a year a 60% discount on everything. The waiting line was longer than I could expect, but I had time to wait, some time it takes 3 to 5 hours or more. But suddenly over a dozen of people just found an open door at the other end of the building and got in without the store workers knowingly,,,,,,,, and that was it. The one at the front of the line started to and did complained, but to no avail. HEY, I emigrated to Canada 53 years ago, and after waitng for 14 months and paper work, I had the permission to come here. I know of so many people that came here ILLEGALLY, and after 6 months they apply for immigration and got it. And YET they had the same benefits and respect from the gov WITHOUT WAITING IN LINE. ILLEGAL IS THE WORD. CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT??????
I was introduced to this point from a philosophy reddit post. Based on your logic, "all" immigrants who arrive illegally and apply for immigration receive faster than those originally had some sort of permission. While this is anecdotal evidence, most immigration happens when people from other countries use a tourist visa and let it expire (stay in the US) versus crossing the border. However, your main point seems to be legality. Just because something is legal, doesn't make it right. Examples of these are Slavery, Witch Hunts, Segregation, etc. You can't based your argument on Legality.
If the point is about legality and that people that have done their paperwork 2 months ago should have priority over people that do their paperwork now, then we could just open our borders gradually to anyone without prior crimes. Last year only x amount of people could enter the country, this year it will be 3x, next year 9x and so on. Of course, those that have been waiting so far will get in sooner than the others and if it's a straightforward and constant policy, people will have an interest to come legally and wait in line, as the line will not take decades to get in.
Now, 2023, the illegals are 5 to 6.000 per day, the same # not counting the one that gets away where there's no wall, or flies in for a vacation. So, in order to control the influx of illegals, the immediate solution would be to complete the wall. Mexico and other countries have it, or NO one wants to illegally move there, or periodically be checked by police on demand. So, build the F 🧱. Now.
