4:32 Actually not entirely accurate. Activation by T-independent antigens is weaker and does not result (usually) in immunologic memory (in contrast to T-dependent antigens which gives a stronger response, resulting in the development of immunologic memory). But I guess they wanted to keep it simple.

I'd like to start by saying that I absolutely love this channel but.... According to the Fundamentals of A&P 10th Edition (Martini/Nath/Bartholomew) book chapter 22 -"The B cell differentiates into plasma cells and antibodies/immunoglobulins." - also it reads that the T cells are the ones that differentiate into Memory cells, not B cells.
@Bayezhaze
@Bayezhaze 5 лет назад
jpeg212 that is wrong. The plasma cell creates the antibodies, not the B cell. When a B cell divides it creates 2 daughter cells. It divides into a plasma cell that creates antibodies and a memory cell called a B memory cell. There are both T memory and B memory cells. Have you taken microbiology ? It teaches you all of this.

Not a "myth" anymore. On August 27, 2015 dr. Gentlemen, take particular note... Just a warning that mumps immunity can be lost. I am a medical student nearly 50 years old and as part of preparation for placements in the clinical setting we need to be fully immunised... blood test revealed have lost my mumps immunity since having mumps as a child.

I still think reproduction would be a more logical stopping point, but cell-to-cell combat does sound like it should make for an exciting finale. I've really enjoyed this course, sad to see it go, but looking forward to the next one, whatever it is.
