Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP): Advances in Treatment in 2020 

I was diagnosed with ITP in April 2021 (it is now June 2023). In January 2021 I was pregnant for the first time and I lost my baby after 10 weeks. Three months later I caught a cold and could not get better, then started getting bruising all over and my doctor checked my platelets. They were at 3k. I got treat with IVIG, it worked, and I was sent home with 75mg of prednisone to take daily. It drove me insane. I couldn’t sleep, I had lots of pressure in my head, I was moody and depressed. I had mental psychosis on prednisone. My platelets got better and I would get off the steroids, but then would drop as soon as I would get sick with allergies, cold, flu or anything and would have to start again with the steroids. It was awful. My specialist to this day states she didn’t advise me it was okay to get pregnant again but she did tell me it would just mean more monitoring and that it would be fine. It was not fine. She didn’t tell me that I could pass on the platelet killing cells to my baby. I got pregnant in 2022 , I was doing okay until 37 weeks, and I had to get a C-section. My baby’s platelets kept dropping for days until it got to 17k and then they gave her IVIG therapy too. She is now a year old and she is doing well. So far so good. As for myself, 6 months after postpartum my specialists finally put me on promacta 50 mg and it worked! I have gone down to 25mg now and I’ve gotten sick with a cold 4 times now without any bruising or bleeding. I am doing amazing. I pray to God that I won’t need medication at all one day but I am also so grateful that something worked for me. Sending much hope to anyone that is dealing with ITP today.

Is there any scientific evidence for the effectiveness of Carica Papaya Leaf extracts in ITP? Is there any ongoing research regarding this topic? Thank you

And originally I am from Nepal and live in Canada itp medication r so expensive r u able to take medicine from back home?any food any drinks like alcohol any restrictions sir?

Im 47, and was diagnosed with ITP since I was 3. . I noticed that purpura appears, headache, painful joints and feels nauseous whenever I take Vitamins and some nutritious foods. I'm worried that I can't get enough nutrients to keep me well. Lab results showed that vitamins lower my pt ct. What should I do?

My mom is on the iv she’s been on it for 5 days now she was feeling good until they started her on that ivig when they first gave it to her she had very bad shakes couldn’t even talk her levels have not went up they actually dropped They are down to 19 now The doctors continue to give her that IV and I really think it’s doing more harm than good she went to the hospital because she was throwing up blood and it was in her stool she had multiple transfusions her platelet count just isn’t going up they don’t want to give her the steroids because they don’t want to cause bleeding but in this case what else can we do. Please help

If a patient has a splenule can that cause a reoccurrence of ITP? Splenectomy and then 12 years later itp is back

My spleen is perfectly healthy and I’ve been on Nplate for 5 months. I’m going to stop treatment and have faith that God will heal me..or I spontaneously bleed to death. Since there is no cure for ITP I will die eventually from it anyway.

한국 의사분이시네요. 절실한 마음으로 올립니다. 저희 남편이 현재 ITP 진단을 받고 처음 병원을 갔을때 혈소판 수치가 4만 정도였는데 콜레스테롤 증상이 있어 약을 먹기 시작한지 일주일 후에 다시 검사했더니 혈소판 수치가 1만5천까지 떨어져서 스테로이드 고용량 4일치 먹고 10만까지 올라갔다 일주일후에 다시 6천으로 떨어져 리툭시맙치료를 받았습니다. 1주,2주차에 계속 6천대 유지하다가 치료 3주차에 1만오천이고 마지막 4주차 치료 때 3만4천 나왔고 일주일 후 3만1천으로 떨어졌어요. 효과가 없어서 어떻게 해야하는지, 또 현재 치료가 잘 되고 있는건지, 등등 알고싶습니다. 그리고 유산균과 비타민 C가 혈소판 증가에 도움이 된다는 이야기를 들었는데 지금 저희 남편의 경우에 먹어도 되는지 궁금합니다. 현재 병원에서는 무조건 다 괜찮다고 하는데 다른 병원에서는 먹지말라고 해서 여뚸봐요. 꼭 부탁 드립니다

After that we carefully stop taking steroids through reducing dose of steroids. 4 months latter she got pregnant and Delivered a Baby girl 6 week ago (Delivery was normal)Both are in normal phase and no sign of worrying so far apart from her platelets count. Currently Her platelets are 30K . Plz Suggest us What should we do to Overcome ITP.

Thanks for making this informative video. We have seen Dr. Vikram Chauhan from India is doing very good treatment of ITP with Ayurveda medicines. A lot of cured patient videos are there. Chronic ITP patients with very low platelets since many years and confirmed diagnosis of ITP and after bone marrow. Kindly ask your patients to follow Dr. Vikram Chauhan's diet plan for ITP. It works.
