"Thank-you for watching, hope you enjoyed"??!! Seriously?!! Is there anybody out there who wouldn't enjoy this? Succinct, clear, well-organised, easy to understand, entertaining, artful ... words that don't often go with immunology and you've managed to produce a video that does all of that. Bravissimo!
I'm a 2nd year BSc Biomedical Science student based in the UK & just wanted you to know Armando that your videos help me massively. They're clear, concise & very well drawn. I am very much a visual learning & I've been using your videos to aid me in my revision as I have exams on Tuesday (eek). Thanks so much & keep up the good work!
+Claire Arnold I am a 2nd year BSc Biomed too and i just cannot realise how can this 15min video summarise a month worth of lectures... sometimes i wonted why am i paying £9000 a year to some one who does not know how to do their job. Armando, this guy really needs a medal!!!
Med student here .. Immuno seemed super confusing until I found your videos I can understand a 2 hour lecture in 7 minutes from watching your videos can't say thank you enough !
Armando, I dont know who you are or your background... but I recently discovered your videos by the grace of God. I am a 3rd year pre-med going for a BA in Biology, and your videos have helped me IMMENSELY. I am indebted to you, if and when I become a physician and find you... I will HAVE to repay you in some grande exquisite way. THANK YOU, I am sooo grateful.
UUFF no, jaja. I took a job in Clinical Informatics with Dell, and have been am Epic Build Analyst. My dad got cancer and medschool needs more finances than I wanted to offer at the time jeje 🙈🙈. I am happy though still doing medicine and clinical decision support...just through Health IT. I say this as I currently sit in an ICU Nursing station jaja.

Give this man an oscar please. Best lecture I have seen so far. I have an exam tomorrow, and I understood all of my chapters content through this only 14 minutes long video. SERIOUSLY THANK YOU, SIR!!
Great Video. I am 35 years old and studying Immunology in the US State of GA. I am attending Medical School soon. Thanks and good run down on the 5 different variants of Immunoglobulins. I call em' Immuno-Goblins haha. They are like little goblins running around sticking to things and breaking them ( in a non literal sense). Gotta have fun with science too or else there is no reason as our life is too short to be so serious all the time.
Amazing video! managed to clearly and concisely explain immunology in 14 minutes far better than my professor did in 7 lectures. Keep up the good work!
A big thank you for helping me understand immunity and passing my biology exam as a pharmacy student. Your work with these videos is priceless. Much appreciated....thank you again!
hey armando i am a dental student preparing for my post graduation. i cant thank you enough as your videos made understanding everything so simple. please keep up the good work.
Thanks Armando A med student from Algeria Whenever I 've got a problem or a misunderstanding i see your videos about the subject and all the pressure disappears 😂
Your videos are always the best and a lot more clearly drawn, laid out and well spoken compared to kahn academy. Keep it up! Your videos are helping me understand many topics in biomedical science at my uni at royal holloway and you explain things at university depth which is key. Thank you again :)
Kahn does a great job! This is especially true for someone who has no idea about a topic but this guy has a gift of explaining complex topics such as immunology. These videos are simply incredible.
currently in the 3rd year of my BSc and this series is still immensely useful! I was wondering if you would also post the diagrams online? They look great!
Phil Drewett I’m listening to the book on tape “The Great Influenza” by John M Barry ...and some of the technical/ medical jargon was losing me . All brought on by COVID-19, yes. These videos make it much easier for the lay person to understand this very important topic
@@michaelharris4503 I have a tendency to obsess over anything that is effecting me. So I have studied alcoholism /addiction / depression / stress / COPD / Neuroendocrinology and now virology and immunology. I spend more time than is 'balanced' but it's better than drinking myself to death (Sober 11 months now). I agree with you with regard to the jargon. It's easy to get lost very quickly. I like the stuff aimed at high shcool kids as a jumping off point. Sci Show, Crash Course etc... Good luck with the book buddy. I suspect there are now alot of armchair epidemiologists, policy makers, virologists and immunologists.
love your videos and I've learned so much throughout my student career so far! however, as per my textbook, igG is said to make up 75-85% of the antibodies in the blood , not 15%
actually, your videos are so easy to understand and it covers almost all the details, Thank you so much for making my immunology class so easier by your video content.
Very clear and through explanation. Plus, the influence of speech and knowledge intertwine that made the lectures flow extremely smooth and interesting. 👍👍👍👍👍

thanks a lot you are the best ...i love your way in explaining with drawing and writing and speaking you are awesome really thanks a lot you are so helpful
Very instructive,. As a Yoga instructor I think in terms of how the mind / thoughts, actions/movement - and nutrition - affect the immune system, i.e., the strength of immunogloblins / the antibodies. I think there have been some limited studies as to: thoughts--affecting specific immunology (as here); nutrition--affecting specific immunology (likely yes) ; exercise (along with accompanying thoughts)--affecting immunology. And in searching for a COVID vaccine, is immunology considered more than just "killing the virus", so that the body ups its own immune capabilities rather than a vaccine "doing the job"?! Not just injecting a small amount of the virus, but enhancing the antibodies / immunolgy through a safe concentration of immune-producing nutrients? What got me started looking into all this (without any biology background to speak of!) was my trying CAMEL MILK: I felt so good with the first glass of it--like I'd been missing something for years after not drinking much (if any) cow's milk for a longtime. The Lactoferrins and IgG immunoglobulins in the camel milk studied are in high concentrations - apparently a little higher than in cow's milk; and this milk can actually help lower bad cholesterol, and does not have the fat that cow's milk has. It has Vitamin-C and other vitamins that cow's milk does not have, too. Study of camel milk: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0022030207726061#:~:text=In%20the%20study%20by%20Elagamy,mL%20(Elagamy%2C%202000). There are some American camel farms - growing in number. The milk I purchased (expensive, b.t.w.) came from Desert Farms. Yes, the Kazakh study of their camels indicates at least a' "little more" concentration of IgG immunoglobulin and Lactoferrin than in cow's milk. The study also indicates that during winter months, the camels produce a higher level of IgG immunoglobulin--the authors only suggesting "reasons" for this. With my "non-knowledge", I wondered if this would be the case because in the winter / colder weather, certain pathogens multiply (e.g., our "flu season", etc.) and in the warmer and hotter weather, the pathogens cannot survive as easily. When there are more pathogens--more threat, then the IgG's rise up like an army to try and protect (?!) (Do the immunoglobulins actually multiply in strength, let alone numbers, in the face of a toxic threat?) What makes immunoglobulins multiply (if they do) in numbers, and strengthen (if and as they do) in the face of threats? I guess we humans "rise to the challenge" when there are difficult problems or threats... Amazing human beings, how are bodies function and how we keep learning about same! Thanks for this very helpful video!! P.S. How is the COVID dis-ease being studied in terms of human immune systems rising to the challenge? How is mind-body medicine also being considered & studied in terms of immune systems' capabilities? I've read that some hospitals are giving COVID patients upped amounts of Vits C, D, and zinc... maybe camel milk and other concentrated nutrients along with oxygen, etc., would help, too!
Thanks man! This probably made me understand the antibodies well enough to pass my test. In the veterinary study I had to remember though IgG didn't go through the placenta of cattle.
Great refresher video. Also, IgG is the only antibody that transfers to the infant via diffusion, IgA is also transferred to the baby through breast milk and helps with immunity until the infant develops its own
Great video! Just one correction - for agglutination, the antibodies do not bind to each other. Instead, since an antibody has 2 antibody binding sites, each binds onto 2 separate antigens.
You have got awesome skills of presentation. I wish I could get a HD picture of that chart made by you while explaining the stuff. It’s got too much of writing on it but the drawing of that blood vessel and graphical organisation of the written content makes it visual delight and pleasant to look at it for quick glance for recalling the function of each type of Ig.
I think you made a mistake there, IgA does actually activate the complement system through the alternative pathway. Thank you very much, it really helped!!!
Great video u should be profesor, can u make video.. For example this igg or igm fight all kind of viruses bacteria, how to know the name of certain diseases that they fight for example denga or hsv or common flu how to know... Thnx Video is educative and very understandable
Armando, thank you so much for this amazingly easy to follow explanation of such a complex system:) Is there any way to get a copy of the information that you drew on this one page?!?!
I love it :) Thank you! You've taught immunology to the whole new generation of scientists :D All future science advances are achieved thanks to your videos :D
Thank you for these amazing videos Armando. Just a tiny suggestion, could you pls rename these videos so we can find I and II more easily? I had a tough time finding this video bc I wasn't sure if it was part II

I have a doubt, do antibodies have these functions only when they are in their soluble form? And if so what are their functions when associated to the membrane ?
