One of the best training videos I have watched. You talk at exactly the right speed for us beginners. Some, talk far too fast and I have to keep pausing in order for my brain to catch up. Well done you!
I can't for the life of me understand why this channel doesn't get far more viewers. Michael has the expertise. But expertise is no longer sufficient in 2021. We need effective educators. And it's here, in particular, that Michael sits in a class by himself.
This video was excellent and informative! You spoke at a moderate and even pace that allowed me time to process what you are saying and learn...which helped me to feel more confident. This should be be very helpful to my channel. Thank you so much! Greetings from Central America. 🍉🥦😋👩🏿🌾👩🏿🍳🤸🏾♀️✨
I rarely leave comments and only do so when I find the video extremely useful in answering the questions I had. You accomplished this and more with this video. Top Notch my man
I have been watching iMovie reviews to see if this is the route I want to use to make RU-vid videos. Your ability to explain iMovie in a simple manner (and I could hear you clearly) makes me know this is the route for me. Thank You.
This is really terrific. I've used iMovie to make 40 music-score following videos and only a handful of "interesting" videos over the past year -- I'm a real novice, and hearing this stuff from a real pro like you, including being shown features I was not aware of, is tremendously useful and interesting. Thanks!
Clean, professional looking video with really informative content. 10/10 🥳 This was actually really helpful. Not only did you cover whether or not iMovie was a helpful application, you also gave me a good bearing of what I should be looking for in any video editing software I might try my hand at, as well as unknown feature sets I can explore.
Thank you. This video made me respect you more. Most videos overlook simple existing features and are more like an upsell for some or other product. Going to listen more regularly on your channel 💛
After poring through hours of video to get some hints I stumbled upon Michael Kinney. And for the first time enjoyed watching someones instructions. Michael, you are a great teacher! You speak clearly and slowly, you explain things so watchers can understand them. In just two of your videos I found a number of features in iMovie I've never known and which are extremely helpful! Thank you so much!
I like iMovie; once you learn it, it's easy, and it's fun learning new things, thank you for that. I have noticed one problem though - the audio often messes up if I add clips or add things. Even if I choose all audio when I'm nearly done, they are not all consistent. Is this because I'm making too many changes, or a slow system (I have an older Macbook Pro)? Also, it took me a while to learn to work with original audio, and adding sounds and trying to make one louder than the other, etc. But all in all, I really like iMovie. I'm afraid to upgrade, 'cause now I finally am quite proficient at this.
I used to use movati video editor but after the recent updates they did on steam I am looking to change from editing on my windows 10 computer to my MacBook. This video really helped me decide the switch, thank you
I recently made a how-to vid using iMovie for a specific group of people using an iPhone. It was an outdoor vid and the clip-to-clip audio was all over the place. I am now consciously incompetent. Thanks for bringing me up the curve a bit.
Great video man ! I think it is always the same thing over and over again.. We people are trying to find the best thing ever even if we didn't start it yet.. Same for the phones, I thought I would use all the features but at the end not so much... I guess I will try my best to master iMovie !
As an iMovie editor, the app is very easy to learn, but when you want to be more advanced, it just simply doesn't fully provide, instead it gives half of what you want, I continue to work with it, tried switching but the others were too hard to learn and I was too used to iMovie.
You have excellent videos, which are helping me learn about Quicktime Player, iShowU, and iMovie! I'm going to watch a lot more of your videos. They are very well done! Thanks for taking the time and effort to do such a good job creating your videos!
Just the video I was looking for. Thank you so much, Michael. I'm about to start making a few videos for my job hunt. And with your reassuring words, I now have the confidence I needed.
I’m glad I came to this video. I took the plunge to buy a MacBook Air and my god I was trying to justify cost with features. iMovie is definitely usable for basic video development and is good for vlogs as well as gameplay to an extent! As a student this will save me a lot of money in the long run as I’ll be able to focus small projects into a simple Apple-friendly ecosystem. For the vast majority of videos on RU-vid, special effects, while popular, don’t stand out as a must. The more important features are... Video quality Sound quality And good standing video text. iMovie has video quality perfectly. Sound quality is okay.. if I’m being honest I would suggest a 3rd party mic and added program. And video text is semi decent. Of course I don’t need a great amount of text on screen anyways so having the option is good enough to me! The drawback to iMovie is the lack of support for multiple tracks.. if ever that was added in a “advanced” features section of iMovie, Apple could easily make the selling point of macs in its competitive software :)!
I agree and you do an excellent job of articulating the important points. My only disappointment is that you do not point out that iMovie only outputs a single aspect ratio. That is a serious limitation. The Keynote solution works, but adds a generation.
Fantastic video. I didn't know about the keyframing feature for graphics or the way you applied ducking. I've done a fair bit with iMovie, but it's always great to see there are still more features to explore. Thanks for a great video.
Your videos are amazing! I've subscribed and am now an attentive student! Thanks for helping me understand the tech I already have and use a lot better! Excellent! :)
Hi Great stuff, i have been learning lot of stuffs from your videos and implementing it in my youtube channel and also in my daily office work. Thank you 🙏 so much for your information. Keep up the good work.
Michael , on the side of the useful info , you have a great voice that’d be great for radio or voiceovers, commentary, etc ! I’m not sure if you have done that already, I’m new to your channel and this is my second video with you, my channel is just new and I’m sort of struggling with so many things at the same time ..but you let me feel good about using iMovie and I learnt some good techniques from you , thanks a lot for the explanations !
A very welcome video. I use Camtasia and really like it, but after viewing this video I am going to put my older (but still full of vigor) MacBook Pro back on the "in reach" table! iMovie is going to get the chance I never gave it. Excellent video and Thank You very much!
I use iMovie to create my videos initially, then I recreate in Premiere. I don’t own a Mac. I always have my iPhone with me, and it is my primary camera. I can quickly churn out a concept video wherever with iMovie. It’s the most accessible editor for me on the go. I’m not lugging around my 17” laptop everywhere. Love iMovie.
I’m still using iMovie after all these years of doing tutorials lol. It’s great and I’m still not convinced that I need paid software for my basic editing.
Very good, thank you, I have an imac and a macbook and I also forgot i have iMovie as well, So i think i will leave off the more confusing fcpx and give imovie a go, thanks very much
I make drum tracks, often to drumless tracks. I'm dying to add video, and upload. For whatever reason I'm a bit intimated to dive in. So many questions, but I'm not finding the answers. This has been an excellent video, so wish me luck 🙏
I've been using iMovie to edit my church's sermon videos since 2015, and it's more than adequate for the things I'm doing. Are there things I wish it included? Sure. But, I either found workarounds for them, or just did without.
Thank you Michael I am an youtuber I use to use different applications for different features but due to the video my load has become much less thank you one's again
