When 11th Hour Racing Team launched in September 2019, the ambition of title sponsors 11th Hour Racing was very clear. The vision for the team was:
“... To develop a new campaign driven by a strong environmental and social ethos … to accelerate change through sporting excellence in sailing, ocean advocacy, and sustainable innovation.”
Almost exactly four years after that launch, the team’s ambitions have been truly realized. Not only did the team lift the coveted Ocean Race trophy (becoming the first American team in the history of the race to do so), but from the outset, they set in motion a campaign that would positively impact people, communities, the environment, and ultimately the planet.
From working with community organizations around the world to leave a lasting legacy in each stopover, to drawing down more carbon dioxide than emitted, to influencing the rule change for the IMOCA Class to reduce the impact of future, the team’s impact has been measurable, tangible, and openly shared.
