man love these impalas, this car is iconic for me ever since i saw in in the "All About the Benjamin's" movie that Ice cube drove as a bounty hunter. @classic
Awesome that you are still grinding on thr SS and LT1. My 96 is stock at the moment. If you had to list the upgrades in order of the way you did or would want to do, what would you do from 1-5 ? Cam, stall, gears, TQH? Etc
A lot of guys pretty much immediately go for a converter + gears combo, since that'll help get you into the meat of the torque band these have stock. Lot of people also end up doing 1.6 roller rockers, headers & catless mids with an exhaust, and an actual cold air (like a RAISS). Tons have netted 280-300WHP on a stock camshaft, stock head car. I personally did smaller suspension stuff first (springs, shocks and sway bars). Tri-Y headeds and catless mids to go with the exhaust that was on the car when I purchased it. Then, rebuilt the trans with a 3000RPM FTI stall + trans cooler. Most recently was the TH which I personally would look at doing before anything else. Drives so much nicer and no looming threat of Optisparks shitting the bed on a road trip.
@@bom_LS2_gto thanks a bunch man. I just got some spintechs in and I really want to do that clear images too. Trying to justify the prices. BUT my cats are trash too ...... Hmmmmm.
@DjCBlaq don't be in a rush, I used to do that and barely scraped by when I was 18/19. Buy stuff on sale or wait to get stuff from guys in a pinch that need to recoup some cash. The Impala's taken me forever since I've just been waiting to stuff to come up for sale 😂
@@bom_LS2_gto thanks I messaged him before on fb so hopefully he makes some more. Your build is coming out good. Im heading the same direction I have a DCM
@user-mc6qf9ry7d A while back he did a small production run of bumpers or something body related, but haven't seen anything of him after that. Shame, since he was such an easy guy to do business with and was a staple in the SS community for smooth bumpers since that fuck from Street Trends tried to swindle a lot of folks (including me).
I'm still torn on 3.42 or 3.73's, but this thing gets ass mileage as is and sadly gas is expensive for the midwest here in this political shithole that is Illinois. 3:42's would still help, but a lot of guys seem to like 3.73's for the low end punch
Nice IMP! I have a low mileage 95 Camaro Z28 with lots of mods. I had Richmond 3.73 gears installed from the stock 2.73 gear years ago. That made a huge difference in the way the car runs. Then I added a heavy duty rear end cover from Detroit Drivetrain Specialist. When you get your gears installed it will knock off your speedometer. A computer reprogramming will correct that issue.
@@bom_LS2_gtodo u do any custom work or know anyone who does? i want to get a light up emblem for my grill. just cant find any so i think it’ll need to be custom made
@@TheRoseboi92 I believe Kiss My Tails on FB is the actual business account for him, which is hysterical since I didn't know my car was on his profile picture 😂
18's on mine, been in cars on 22's before and the lack of room to nicely fit any sidewall makes them ride like dick. 18's on a 275/40 rides great, even on fairly stiff Hotchkis springs.
I've kicked the idea around, but it's such a fun cruiser as is. Probably would go 4L80 if anything down the line since I already have a decent manual car
