Love anything Imperial guard, the true heroes of the 41th century. Do have a historical nitpick though. The helmets aren't exactly the Wehrmacht stahlhelm, but have a closer resemblance to those worn by the Fallschirmjäger (parachutists) who wore a smaller helmet

Been waiting for this. I came into 40k just as the 3rd Armageddon worldwide campaign was ending and just completely fell in love the the Armageddon aesthetic. My first codex was the Armageddon codex before I knew what was going on and read the fluff for the 2nd Armageddon campaign so many times.

The legion that got me into 40k all those years ago.

The heroes of mankind, The Imperial guard. You did forget one major thing Sparty, why the Steel Legion's forces are so based around armoured transports and overall tanks and artillery is because that Armageddon is a MAJOR Forgeworld. Armageddon's riches are one of the reasons why the Adeptus Mechanicus has so many forces and resources reinforced on the planet itself, while also serving their own agenda of exploring the planets history long forgotten. On the last note on Armageddon's fate, we'll see without a doubt another Ork WAAARGH heading their way and hopefully the Imperium will heed the warnings of Yarrick once more. If Armageddon falls it'll be a devastating lost for the imperium itself, as Armageddon is more than any other world, its a bastion against the enemy of the Imperium, one of the last strong holds holding the North West region. "Cadia Stands!".

Ah, the Steel Legion, the first Guard army I ever collected. I've always hoped that GW will return to them with some new plastic models.

Probably done a video on them by now, but I gotta hear more about the Salamanders! They're my favorite, not for all the fireworks but because they focus on keeping civilians safe.

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate these types of lore videos you do, I started with watching your Total War: Warhammer videos a while ago but after watching a couple of your 40k stuff I was completely hooked on the universe. Death Korps didn’t have models until FW started their line in resin as the Siege of Vraks line. Their first appearance was in the Armageddon codex So no, DKoK didn’t have pewter models, they were pallet swapped Steel Legion

Something I never understood is that the jungle separating Armageddon Prime and Secundus is called the Equatorial Jungle, but its always shown running what I assume to be north to south.

I wish someone would make a serious budget in war hammer film. Their is a r8ch mythology behind the stories, I mean the black library would be a good start.

Death korp were never pewter. They were resin from FW. The metal models have been Cadians, Mordians, Praetorians, Valhallans, Vostroyans, Steel Legion, storm troopers, kasrkin, and a few special catachan models and special weapons.

Those are not normal stalhelm helmets those are M37 fallschermjager helms GRUN IST UNSER FALLSCHIRM!

Damn, brother- you are REALLY spoiling me with the 40K content (because of course, you’re only making it for me!)-haha. Really enjoyed this one too- Commissar Yarrick and Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka were some of the first named characters I was introduced to in White Dwarf waaaay back in 1992 (except for Leman Russ in ‘89). I’m sure you know, but I don’t think you mentioned it in your video, (and your subscribers might find it funny)- that Ghazghkull’s name was based on then-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Always got a chuckle out of me! Ghaz and Yarrick became two of my favorites for a long time, because their lore is just so awesome- how bad assedly (new word- like it?) Yarrick was portrayed- fighting with his arm torn the fuck off - “I ain’t got time to bleed!”- and the respect that Ghaz shows in letting him go, because the universe is more fun with him out there as an opponent. Something tells me that Yarrick wouldn’t approach the subject in the same way, if he had Ghaz dead to rights and had the option of removing him. But I was never 100% sure about that- it’s one of the little questions that make the lore so awesome. Anyway- thanks for the great video- I can’t wait to see what you’ve got on deck for the next one. Honestly speaking the Werchmarcht isn't too uncommon from the death korps and legionary men because it is is simply just very well designed weaponry and equipment that worked very well this day. Such as the modern militaries of western society use the German design for the helmets neck guard and camouflage because it was so effective. Even their tactics.

Absolutely love the Steel Legion. I can't begin to put into words how much I hate Von Strab.

I actually have based my armageddon force on the modern German Army/Bundeswehr (because i serve in it and use this a sorta coping mechanism). So instead of solid colored trenchcoats i paint them in flecktarn. I alos sprinkle in the occasional WW2 reference and design choices for more elite units, juts to keep it 40k-ish enough

Hey Italian, what do you think about the theory of the orks warp powers basically making Yarik so invincible, that because the orks believed he couldn't die that their own power worked against them and prevented them from killing him. Not to sell Yarik short but he does some insane stuff.

5:22 - 8:00 these are kriegsmen edit: Why not pick up the story of Steiners Mercs, i forgot their name sorry. I read about them in an old White Dwarf issue, they were kinda like the dirty dozen, a penal squad. They had sniper and a commando, demo man and a medic i believe. Steiners mini looked very german unteroffizier.^^ I've never heard of them since, no 40K-tuber touched them..... yet

if my memory serves me right you build dkok from the steel legion models, by remodel parts of the model and put a spike on there helmets^^ by then dkok did not have officers, they where off worlders =/ Then fw took over and made the new lore =)

So are the Krieg troops and Steel legion linked in any way given their similar appearance? Both sets of minatures are nice, do they do the vehicles for the steel legion guys either through GW or forge World? I noticed the vehicle kits on the GW website come with cadian or catachan heads so do you have to convert? And what about weapon teams?

After the Admech teleported Ullanor to its new location, did anyone besides themselves know? At this point in the Imperial history I don't get why the Imperium doesn't just execute Exterminatus on Armageddon? Just evac as much of the populace as possible and leave the planet a glassed and lifeless husk of a rock.

Helmet correction! The Death Korps do not really use Pickelhauben-style helmets. Their helmets are a combination of the Stahlhelm and the French Adrian helmet design. The Steel Legion have some implemented features of Stahlhelms on certain helmets, but the majority of helmets used by them (at least to me) resemble more of a WW2 American M1 helmet design.
