I can remember a story, I think from a Guants Ghosts novel, but I might be wrong about that, of an infantry regiment of Iron Guard, marching out onto the fields of battle and getting pounded by artillery, but never breaking formation, until in range to start fireing las salvos

Modian Iron Guard can still build regiments from other hive cities. Hopefully, they can instill their discipline in other Imperial citizens.

A tidally locked planet would have constant high winds, not be windless. You are correct about no corriolis effect. However, as the planet desperately tries to achieve thermal equilibrium, winds would constantly rush from the day side to the night side.

Back in the early 90's when they first came out, I bought my first Mordian box of 10 "1 Sgt, 1 support trooper, 2 heavy weapons (laz cannon model) and 6 troopers" Now it stands at over 1000, not including the tank's, super heavy tanks, and other units. This video has inspired me to go back to it :) Thank you dude. Lets hope it's not all lost for the Mordiains.

Heavily inspired by the uniforms (and tactics) of the Franco-Prussian war era, but there's plenty of similarities with Soviet era and even modern Russian parade uniforms, with the hats being practically identical with some Red Army hats. They're also very similar to NKVD hats that would actually be worn on the battlefield. But long story short, these types of uniform are very much European, and almost every non-European military in the world that has modeled itself after the colonial powers of Britain, France or Germany, uses them, including the US.

Ever since I read the lore of mordian iron guard 💂‍♂️ these guardsmen are my second favorite regiment, because they as a guardsmen regiment represent discipline, order, and most of all loyalty in the face of choas which in the face of chaotic environment any human soldier would panic or even defect/flee. Modrian iron guards however due to its emphasis on drills, training and preparation they develop a fierce loyalty and discipline. Thanks for the video.

I would love to hear about some of these "terrible" regiments. In a strange sort of way I'd enjoy playing an IG force of incompetent boobs rather than the more famous regiments. Buuuut I also like playing Orkz - I'm a sucker for charm. :P

They should spread the remnants of the mordian iron guard to the various hive worlds and train up the troop on those planets to the standards of mordia. While I know table top isn’t the best at representing how the lore plays out. I’ve slain custodies with las-gun volleys.

My ex girlfriend is mexican and hates my love of Taco Bell. But everyone knows that after the fast food wars during the war of strife its the only one that survives.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but the Prussians actually had a unit called the Landwehr that wore uniforms VERY similar to this, down to the bus-driver cap (as we in the IRL us military call it). Granted the Mordians still take from a lot of other sources such as the US Marine with the red trims.

The Mordian Iron Guard are just straight up United States Marines from the dressblues to keeping their gear and uniforms in tip top or that they are prideful and stalwart

So in the American civil war towards the middle of the war and end, trenchwarfare started to take hold. So saying that they are similar to the civil war fighters is a half truth.
