Dark age tech Knights were the equivalent of excavators for colony worlds. Meaning theres a nonzero chance the STCs for some Knights may have a Caterpillar logo embedded in the data, or a few houses who's heraldry favor shades of green and running deer.
There’s a book called “shield of the emperor” a book comprised of multiple imperial guard short stories but the one that stands out the most to me is “death world “ which covers a group of catachan guardsmen being deployed to a world called “ Rogar III” a world which was mysteriously changed to a death world over night.. upon arrival they have to fight orks upon the planet but are constantly being attacked and stalked by the planets horrors! It’s something NOBODY talks about and it’s such a cool and awesome horror story! I’d love nothing more then to hear you cover this book and its awesomeness! This book is what got me through the mental hospital when I was alone and bored and on the brink of insanity, reading through it enthralled me deeper into the world of 40K and made me so much happier to have some kind of connection to my hobby while I was behind those walls.. yet when I got out to see how many people covered these stories I was deeply saddened to see absolutely no 40K content creators were covering it which shocked me because of how interesting and cool the book itself was! Anyways I’m really hoping you read this and consider suggestion
Excellent video! When you were talking about their heraldry, I was reminded of that scene in the game "Shootas, Blood, and Teef" where the Ork meets the Knight, Lord Horrik Canorem, Son of High King Valorik Canorem, High Prince of House Canorem, Master of the Blade of Gaia, Keeper of the Gates of Loralo..... "DA WUT?"
As soon as i saw the notification that weshammer dropped the imperial knights video, i sprung up out of bed. I the knights i think are some of the coolest armies in the tabletop.
THE TIMING WES!!!! I just got off of work and am going on my first vacation in 2 years.... and you drop this... I hope you win the lottery my friend. STAY AWESOME!!!!
He.... got his head cut off.... Dreadnoughts are for people who were mostly dead, but can be kept alive on life support Only way Ferrus comes back is in the Legion of the Damned
@@kharnthebetrayer8251 I get it, I'm just thinking it would be badass if a dreadnought was piloted by the brain of Ferrus Manus, and that dreadnought was the size of an Imperial Knight yet moved with the dexterity of Eldar titans. It would all be speculation and theory at best.
I spent 3 years working as a guide in wilderness therapy. Some of the kids I worked with knew and loved your content. I myself would tuck into my sleeping bag at the end of the day and listen to your lore videos until I fell asleep. Whether it was freezing or blistering hot, you made it bearable. Those kids and I didn't watch you just for your content but because it's easy to see you're genuine, kind, and have not just a love for Warhammer lore but a respect of its accuracy. Every video you create makes me excited to go home and play DOW UA mod lol. I don't know you personally, but your demeanor and sincerity shine through your content. Thank you and don't give up no matter what anyone may say.
Knights are easily one of my favorite factions in 40k, right behind the Imperial Guard and on par with the Dark Angels. And finding out they deploy to the knight suit Voltron style? I love them even more. It’s so comical it’s cool
You will love this. According to Kingsblade, Imperial knights drop castles from orbit! Each drop-keep contains 12 knights, servitor gun batteries, royal house banners, vox-hailers with triumphant music, and a portcullis complete with drawbridge.
@CMTechnica that's only bullshit, but just antagonistic. Back up bro, if you don't like him, fine, I dgaf 🤣 these are not the druids you're looking for
I bow to you Sir of respect for your magnificent work, I came from Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader game of Owlcat, trying to understand some of the vast Warhammer's world Lore..THANK YOU
The confusion I have is in how you can have knights with specific patterns only used by veterans; Can you swap out your throne mechanicum into a different pattern 🤔
I couldn't find any specific examples of it but it's reasonable to believe that if their knight ends up destroyed they could retake the ritual and bond with a new knight. Probably would be easier the 2nd time around
A polynesian imperial knight?? Man that thing should and must become canon! Cannot wait to seeing Polynesian imperial knight stomping some green Hooligans(Orks) and space dinosaurs bug!
I have a few on the channel, they were some of the earliest videos I posted. But also maybe. Painting is my favorite part of this hobby! Other than the lore of course :)
Wonderful video! I collect knights and spent a lot of time writing a backstory for the house. Wish this had been there when I had, would have saved a lot of time! Their a house who’s most talented pilots get recruited into the nearby forge worlds legio, I like to think of them forming bonds of family akin to space marines fighting alongside dreadnoughts, just at a bigger scale.
awhh thank you for the vid wes, great to have a big chunk of video to digest over the weekend awesome job and always appericate the work Thank you wes !! o7
Imperial knights are so based: they respect their enemies, they LARP in the imperium, don't change something that works. After waching this, being a tabletop knight player feels better than before
Would love to see a video talking about all the different chaos machines and their lore some day. Love your videos and these long form videos have been a blessing to just ease the stress off and have on while writing essays so please keep up the good work!
I know that now it has been at least 20 years since GW decided that 40K and Fantasy are two separated universes, only linked by the Warp. But it would just make so damn sense if the Fantasy world was a knight world were, for some reason, all main xenos factions who were already there in the 20th millenium also has settled (plus the local ones : lizardemen and skavens), and then when the Human and Eldar empire fell together, at this point those provoked the Chaos engulfing into the Fantasy word with the fell of the Slans, and all factions here technologically downgraded, implying the Humans lost also their mechanical knights in the process. And than now, the Fantasy world is one the human worlds who are still isolated by a Warp storm. (Not to mention that the theory saying Sigmar was a lost Primarch would be totally possible in that case)
Sheeeit I think I’m gonna get that exact shirt, I always want something graphic on my graphic tee and that is honestly good enough. Bought their shirts with your code before, 100% worth it as someone who is 6’2 and 270lbs
Freeblade Preceptor who only fights Tyranids: "Honor, that has changed for me in this cmapign. I owe this enemy no honor, but i owe it to myself more than ever. I will not forget myself. *And the entire hive mind will remember my heraldry."*
Wonderful Wes and exactly what I fell in love with when you started. The sisters soroitas was one of my favorites I’ve ever listened to about warhammer 40k. Deep dives into legion campaigns would be sweet
It’s great to know i’m not the only one who appreciates the uniqueness of the Imperial Knights lore in wh40k. I remember reading through their codex when it first released, and watching this video reminded me of how satisfied I was with how rich and unique their lore was written and presented. They truly stand out, even among a universe that was already very full of so many niche factions.
28:35 "they will find their personality be permanently changed, altered not only by their knoght's powerful machine spirit, but also the touch of all of their ancestors" someone call chris hansen, stat!
I love these longer videos. And I had recently wanted to learn wondered about what the Imperial Knights were all about, when I saw the Citadel figures at local game store. You are what got me into 40k during past year.
Honestly, on the note of the last bit about bot having anything truly bad to highlight is probably a good thing. I think it is a bit of a bright spot in the darkness which is needed from time to time.
I am sorry and i know this may be a small thing, but the things you told about Legio Solaria. The founder tells her story in the book "Titandeath", she break tradition infront of the mechanicus and as a solution. Her father gives(banish) her to the mechanicum and she tells of her joy returning many years later where her father was forced to kneel before her.
Let those who commit the mistake of challenging me, face the fury of strength incarnate. Let my footsteps be heard through the stars, so that the cowards may do what they do best. May every shell turn its hatred towards my armor, so that the noble and the innocent will be spared.
If you enjoy nightly worlds a book called assasinorum kingmaker takes place on a Knightley world for the whole book. It's about a group of assassin's tasked with killing a high monarch and staging the succession crisis to avoid civil war.
I love how you take the time out of your day to do this, I understand it's your job but you do so much. It is going to take me a while to chew through this video. Have a good rest of your day.
Fantastic deep dive! Personally, my favorite Imperial Knight is Lord Horrik Canorem, Son of High King Valorik Canorem, High Prince of House Canorem, Master of the Blade of Gaia, Keeper of the Gates of Loralo, Wielder of the Kaloric Flame, Bringer of Hope, Herald of the Holy Order of the Adamantine Lance, The Paladin of Koto, Slayer of the Lion of Essa, The Triumphant, The Light of Stars, The Eradicator.
Ok cool, ill check that out thanks! I like both of you guys and I just wanted to know what the truth was. I personally haven't seen all of your videos but I never got the impression you were trying to rip his content off. @@weshammer
@@melaninfarmer the truth was he was wrong, out of line and hadn't reached out to me or even watched the videos before calling plagiarism. The entire community called him out and he lost 5000 subscribers before privating the video and eventually issuing an apology.
Thought I'd mention, if you read Assasinorum: Kingmaker (excellent book btw, would recommend), you'll notice a fairly even mix of male and female pilots, and the issue of gender never even comes up outside of having children. Additionally, when reading through the 9th edition codex, it makes mention of both male and female pilots, without insinuating that either gender was particularly exceptional or uncommon in the role. I suspect that even if it hasn't been retconned, GW considers patriarchal knight households a cultural thing decided by each world, as opposed to being a commonality between knight households.

The Light of Stars! The Eradicator!
It makes perfect sense that the ancestors of the knight houses became the leaders of their world, they're forklift certified, bossman don't fuck with the forklift drivers and just lets them do whatever they want.
I really wish there was an animated short (or long) movie featuring the knights or any of the giant mechs of the imperium!! One vs the dark mechanicum would be so badass!!
Yyeeaahhh! I have been waiting for this video for so long! Started getting into Warhammer a few months ago, and I almost immediately gravitated towards knights, but lore has been somewhat difficult to find. Love all of these lore videos and they've really helped me get into the hobby. Now I know a lot more about knights and how to integrate them into the lore of my own forge world, as I play them next to my AdMech army.
