Scott Stokely breaks down the importance of foot placement when putting and shares the key to finding the perfect foot placement for your putt. Scott uses a simple yet effective analogy with a rubber band to demonstrate the stability and repeatability of foot placement.
Learn why placing your feet where you're most comfortable and relaxed may not be the best approach and discover the crucial connection between shoulder and hip positioning in creating the least amount of tension during your putt. Get ready to elevate your putting game and achieve consistency in your stance and release.

This is great!! When i first started i used to put with my feet pointed away and i was doing ok. But then i watched videos of other people saying you should be square to the target so i did that for a while and i could not make any putts. Just a few days ago i said screw it and went back to feet pointing slightly away and i have been making more putts, i get height right, and i can feel more pop. Seeing your video just gave me more confidence in what im doing!

Keeping your feet at a slight angle is something that came naturally to me through trial and error, and a change that I've seen fix peoples putt, but is rarely mentioned. Never thought about why this was the case.

I have had some unexpected consistency putting on one foot. I think there is a connection here.

Can the rubber suggestion be applied also to normal throws? The last step in the run-up for normal throws can be longer o shorter, and if I opt for a longer step can it affect negatively the timing and the release? On the contrary if I use a shorter last step shouldn't be the release more precise?

I'd say a good rule of thumb is you always want to finish balanced. Putting or throwing. So with a throw it depends on the speed of your run-up. If you are doing a slow walk-up, then you don't need a big last step. Conversely, if you're running up fast, you need a bigger step forward, otherwise you'll fall over your brace. If you have a slow walk-up and take a big step, then it will be hard to finish balanced on your front foot. Checking your balance at the end of your throw or putt is always good, and staying in balance is always more repeatable.

HELP! Like all your video lessons, this makes so much sense, so I immediately tried it, with a video of myself with my Wren. To my surprise, I found out that my normal putt has NO rotational body movement! Hips and shoulders are LOCKED TOGETHER, moving only up and forward. The only other movements are my legs and trowing arm (everything from shoulder to fingers). I thought my style was based on your older videos, keeping the only motion straight toward the basket. AM I PUTTING WRONG?

Without seeing you putt, certain form styles do not have rotation. Don't get hung up on that. If you want to discuss it more, please join my discord server (link in channel header)

@@ScottStokelyDG Thanks Scott, that sounds amazing! I'll try later to sign up after I learn more about Discord. (Got a message that said "something out-of-the-ordinary" was going on -- which halted my sign-up. Maybe discord can't believe my date of birth, back in the 1940s ;^)
