1. Define a factory under the Factory Act 1948. What are the key provisions regarding the health and safety of workers in a factory?
A factory, as per the Factory Act 1948, is any premises where ten or more workers are engaged in manufacturing processes with power, or where twenty or more workers are employed without the aid of power. Key provisions include ensuring adequate ventilation, clean drinking water, sanitary facilities, safety measures for machinery, handling hazardous substances, and appointing safety officers.
2. What do you understand by the term Tribunal? Differentiate Industrial tribunal from National tribunal in respect to their working in India.
A tribunal is a judicial body resolving disputes. Industrial tribunals handle labour disputes, while national tribunals deal with broader issues affecting the nation. In India, industrial tribunals focus on labour-related conflicts, whereas national tribunals address matters of national importance beyond labour disputes.
3. Explain the process of determining the amount of compensation under the Workmen Compensation Act 1923. How is it different from other forms of compensation?
Compensation = Monthly wages × Relevant factor × Degree of disability
4. Define and explain:
(i) Permanent Partial disablement
Permanent partial disability is a workers compensation disability level in which the injured employee is still able to work but not with the skill and efficiency demonstrated prior to the injury.
(iii) Half monthly payments (iv) Workman under WCA.
(v) Wages under WCA. (vi) Total disablement.
5. Discuss the important provisions of the Industrial Dispute Act 1947 regarding the resolution of disputes between employers and workers.
6. Write short notes on:
(i) Strike (ii) Lock out (iii) Lay Off (iv) National Industrial Tribunal (v) Collective Barging
7. What is lock out? What are the differences between strike and lock out?
8. What do you mean by a strike? What are the two types of strikes? What are the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act regarding Strikes?
9. What is the procedure for fixing minimum wages under the Minimum Wages Act 1948? How does it ensure fair compensation for workers?
10. What is the objective and scope of the Employee State Insurance Act 1948? How does it contribute to social security for workers?
11. Discuss the important benefits provided under the Employee State Insurance Act 1948. How do they support employees during times of illness, injury, or maternity?
12. Describe the key features of the Employee Provident Fund Act 1952, including the Employee’s Pension Scheme and the Employee’s Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme.

Gratuity payable = Last drawn salary *15/26 *No of completed years of service.
16. Discuss the authorities under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, and their powers and functions. How do they ensure the proper implementation of the act?
17. What is the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) law? Discuss its objectives and key provisions for resolving insolvency and bankruptcy cases in India.
