Impossibly Cute Husky Puppy: Wolfie Growing Up PT1

For those who see it as a male appendage for the reasons I cannot understand...please go and see a psychiatrist...and don't feel the need to leave an inappropriate comment. No one cares and I will delete it. There are children watching and reading this too. Just keep your rather questionable perception to yourselves, please.

OMG Snow is so patient and beautiful! Wolfie is so cute and spunky! I love he just took the toy from Snow and Snow was kind of just like "well, there that goes..." and let him do it! I get huskies in a few weeks and I'm SO excited!!!! They have such personalities!

Watching this makes me smile and yet makes me sad. I miss my little chiqui. She was a rott-Doberman Mis and was the best friend that I had. As a puppy, she was like Wolfie: playful and curious and sweet. She loved to run off of walls and would always warm my feet when she was on the couch with me. She was my little girl. She was diagnosed with cancer at age 16 and lived to 17. In the end, she was miserable: couldn't walk, couldn't relieve herself. She was depressed and anxious and my little girl that was playful and loving was replaced by an ornery and snappy dog. I took care of her when she got to the point of being unable to walk. I did everything I could for her and more. I'd hug her and kiss her even though she would get upset and snap. She bit me one night and I smacked her snout out of reflex. I felt so horrible because I knew that it wasn't her biting me. It got to the point where I had to put her down. The night before I took her to the vet, she licked my nose. Hadn't done that in a long time but for a small instant, my little girl came back to me. She would cry and be anxious a lot. The last night she was on this earth, I slept next to her and rubbed her belly softly until she fell asleep. I gave her half of a cheesecake for her last meal; she loved it. Took her to the vet and looked into her eyes while she left her body and I felt pain like I had never felt before. My little girl was gone. To this day, I cry for her. I miss her and her unconditional love that she gave to me. It was a mercy to let her go, but it still hurt. I know that she is happy now, running off of walls and playing and eating cheese in Heaven.someday, I'll see her and I'll be with her. I don't know why I am writing this but I feel like I have to. I miss my Chiqui so much. I love you, Chiqui.

Huskies are not for everyone; yes, they are adorable puppies and beautiful dogs. But too many people don't research the needs of this breed before getting one, and they end up in shelters because the owner thinks they are "unmanageable." You are a terrific Husky owner; you know when to be firm, when Wolfie is playing "helpless" for attention (and not to fall for it), and how to use the right amount of praise - and to those who don't understand this; to a dog, praise from their owner is a sign of love. I saw in the comments that you used to be a primary (elementary) teacher; so did I - your teaching skills are being put to good use with Wolfie! I love how raising both Snow and Wolfie seems to be a whole family issue, although you are the primary caretaker of Wolfie. However, your entire family is invested and involved. You have an amazing bond with him, and I hope you have many more years together!

Man this is when I wish I had a dog.

American here. I’m partial to the arctic dog breeds for their intelligence, independent minds, and resilience. My previous dog was a Norwegian Elkhound. They’re not very popular here - like Huskies & Malamutes. My Dasha was my heart. She went through a bunch of personal crises with me & her calm, wise presence was exactly what I needed at the time. She was truly special. She was around 14 when she died, been gone for 4 years now. She’s buried about 20 feet from my back door, where I can still watch over her. My current dog, Harry, is fine. He’s 1/2 Golden Retriever (dad), 1/4 Black Lab, & 1/4 Bullmastiff (mom.) Basically, he looks like an oversized, bulkier Golden. 110 lbs. at his last vet visit. He’s sweet, submissive, simple, really kind of a doofus. I love him, of course - but he’s no Dasha. Both of your Huskies are beautiful & OBVIOUSLY well taken care of and loved.

Really, really beautiful Huskies. Your oldest is very well behaved. It's refreshing to see people who adore their animal friends and treat them as they should be treated... Like friends, and not something below us.

Please tell me you're not leaving that breed in a cage while you're out of the house,that will drive a husky stark, raving mad. That is animal abuse. He needs the run of the house, if you don't like the consequences then you should not have got that particular breed.

Snow seems to be very well trained. I didn't see any food or toy aggression at all. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. People think that stuff is normal and don't correct it. I makes me happy to see him chewing on that treat (bully sticks?) and not snapping at Wolfie. ^_^
