Thing is, Jim Carrey grew up about a half hour-45 min north of where Snow grew up. The rapping itself took some talent, but imitating a white Torontonian singing in semi-Patois would be east for Carrey.
@@person849 because is same language family, patois is just broken english [like creole is broken french]. But punjab is different family language, mid asian.
it was actually not good at all and was a hit-piece. Snow was 100% embraced by the Caribbean communities around the world and still is today. won 7 of 8 of the song of the year awards he was nominated for last year.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son JESUS CHRIST FOR OUR SINS so whoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life Amen Amen Amen
Can't !! Now that we have social media and everyone seems to be so sensitive these days, I'm surprised he hasn't had to apologize for even making a fake rasta voice
I knowwwwww. The only reason they said they ended it was cause the network was giving them a hard time about that one sketch with the 2 gay men cause it was to much for TV back then. But now look now days how anything that pays wether it's pushing the limits or not. It's all about money. This show would have ran for a long time and don't forget Snl was on the air and for living color to make it that long ?? And had still been on the air they would have given Snl a run for there money.
the show ended because all the good people left to do solo stuff. the last season was downright awfull lol. i think they only had david alan grier left towards the end
In living color was one of the best shows ever created. They "pushed the envelope" even more than SNL. Some truly talented people emerged from the show, including Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrie, David Alan Grier, JLo, and of course the super talented Wayans family.
100 percent. I have a theory - not original. People got soft. But soft doesn't mean spew racist crap and then call people "snowflakes." I mean soft as can't take REAL equal opportunity satire the way In Living Color did. And the way Family Guy still does.
@@buckster2575The humor was funnier on SNL way back, "Canteen boy" Shweaty balls" "Gumby" "Baba Wawa" " I need more cowbell" "Van down by the river"" Chippendales" "D**k in a box" just about anything with Eddie Murphy, Phil Hartman and Andy Samberg was funny. Way back they had skit with Mr and Mrs.Douche bag, 😂😂😂
I used to absolutely love this show. Homey the clown, Homey don't play that. Then the movie "I'm gonna get you sucka" was a classic. The parody of Shabba Ranks, "mr ugly man" was amazing.
Snow was legit. Irish kid who grew up with Jamaicans. He can proudly say Jim Carey made a sketch about him. That’s an achievement in and of its own! Respect!
I agree... Great parody and amazing job by JC... It is funny if you ignore the truth... Everyone in TO or interested at that time knew Snow was gangsta. It truly sounds like... Because your skin is white... You are fake... Otherwise... Just enjoy and have a laugh 😂
Yet he made 6 albums, and has been releasing singles for the last 8 years and won over 20 awards, including 7 of 8 he was nominated for last year. All song of the year categories.
@@alexandruescu1207 No, while he was still a hit in Canada his songs charted in Ireland, Holland, Sweden, Britain...many of his award nominations were in Canada and the Latin America award shows. The remake with Daddy Yankee is a massive success. Its called Con Calma and went triple platinum...the video has over 2.2 billion views on RU-vid.
@@alexandruescu1207 I am glad you are from Britain. Does this magically make you aware of 100% of all music released there? No. There is however a shit ton of music sites that do track all music releases. Perhaps at some point youll stop replying to me and actually go look up some information yourself since you are clearly unaware of his music career seeing as how you yourself say you only know 2 of his songs and nothing else while I keep giving more and more information about what he has done.

@@gedon4713 So, you believe in human sacrifice. That really doesn't make sense. That because some guy, whose followers claim was a man god, supposedly suffered in a garden and was executed, that he somehow saved humans from a terrible afterlife due to transgressing supposed spiritual laws some long dead men wrote about in some books? That's pretty weird.
Doyledeth This part is really good: "Time Warner kicked Ice-T off of the label for dissing the cops They said it just ain't right But when a Caucasian man records a cop-hating song They don't have a problem Must be an oversight"
Even after all these years, is no one gonna say how amazing and funny his scream was at the end when he got surrounded lol. This Jim Carrey killed it all!
he did. Watch Batman Forever (1995) its not the best batman movie but its still one of my favorites because he was solo cute as Edward nygma in the beginning of the movie!!! 😍
Comedy gold. In Living Color perfectly understood how to parody - funny without being mean and nasty. Nowadays people either totally overreact to good parody especially if it's about race... or they say some mean racist BS and try to play it off by saying "haha" after.
Is that really his voice or is he just using someone else's. He must be a true artist... giving the ppl what they want... & him truly just being himself. I especially like his half ass parts moving his tongue around like some lizard mid way through wever
+REALGz23 Eminem, yes, but he was largely slammed by the PC Media for his rants against gays and stuff. Blink 182 and Green Day both I believe were formed in the '90s.
I saw Snow once at a local bar 8 years or so after this hit song. The DJ played the song and Snow got up on the bar with a microphone and did a perfect singalong!
HOLY CRAP!!! How have I never seen this before?! I'm 41 years old now and I remember "Informer" quite well, but I never knew Jim Carrey did a send up of it. Absolutely brilliant!
This is a clip from the show "In Living Color" from the 90s. This show is where Jim Carey, Jamie Fox, J-Lo and the Wayans got their big break. It was produced by Kenan Ivory Wayans.
Funny thing about snow. He actually learned Jamaican Patois from his Jamaican neighbors while growing up in the projects of Toronto. Take that as you may.
@@GregHassler I know his music and that informer song is done by an imposter. As a jamaican, that song is the weakest link,it belongs in the 🗑️ 🗑️ trashcan
Fun fact: Snow was in prison at the time this song/video was released. They all sat down and watched it air, and his prison mates wanted his autograph afterwards.
Whats sad actually was Snow was really a ghetto kid from the project housing, that was in and out of jail and never acted like he was black or even dressed down like a normal kid. He was an Irish dude who never had a blackccent and did not wear the Hip hop gear popular with the phony acts like Markie Mark. He was actually very talented and the Jamaicans loved him. A true legend in the reggae world with 90s Jamaicans Dancehall. Biggups!
Snow was born with Jaimacans around him, of course his accent will be affected, you probably meant it this way but your comment really comes differently and rude.
The power of Popeye....that he makes me eat spinach for added strength (or so I thought)....and STILL end up getting my butt kicked by guys older and bigger than me (back in my kiddie days).
