Hello Beautiful People 😃
Thank you for watching 😊
This is one of my favorite videos from my previous channel.
I have been in doing this job for four years now (see • 4 Years In Korea | 4 B... ) In those four years I've improved, gotten a lot of nods, are pretty confident in my ability to run a classroom. However, there is a constant nagging feeling that I am not supposed to be here. This video is a short visual of my thoughts.
Enjoy, Like and Subscribe :)

I just discovered your channel today and I'm honestly loving it. Girl I can really relate to the imposter syndrome, I got a job as a transcriber about 4 months ago and I knew nothing about that industry. My imposter syndrome had me waking up at 5am and sleeping at 10pm trying to learn and master everything I was taught and focus on my school work since I'm a full time university student as well. So I managed to be the "trainee of the month" on my first month there, but that still wasn't really enough for me. I'm 4 months in and I still start work at 5/6am (the offical time is 8am) just to make sure that I don't get fired, cause I'm also saving up so I can also come teach in Korea next year. Anyway the point I'm trying to make is how I never really feel as though I'm truly deserving of the opportunities that come into my life. So I always find myself working like a dog from the fear of losing that opportunity. I'd really like to get to a point where I no longer feel like an imposter and live out my dream of coming to Korea.

I hope you're also taking time to take care of yourself physically and mentally while trying to keep your job. As a black South African whose native language is not English, it can be hard to prove your place here and I am often shocked by how subconsciously I am insecure about being called "native" and being called a teacher.

This is beautiful, 🌻 we feel these feelings so often it’s important to talk about them! Stunning video! So well made too!

I feel like it takes on a whole different level when you're black and South African... especially when people ask you about your "native language"

You know what, this is so thought provoking and in all honesty requires a discussion as it umbrellas other aspects too such as colourism etc… I could write a book about my experience with the Imposter Syndrome, but this is not the platform. Keep your head high and know you are good at what you do…

Yeah there are a lot of aspects to it, ranging from how tough I am on myself to how the people around me perceive me. Doesn't help that I overthink and over analyze everything. There is a lot to it.

This is one of the most creative and different (in a good way) videos I've seen about ones experience as an ESL/TEFL Teacher. Beautiful

I 100% share the same sentiments. I once taught at a school with my degree and I was soooo scared of the word “teacher”🥴🥴🥴

I agree with you. Im a real teacher and spent 4 years of my life studying education. The fact that people without a B.Ed degree are out here teaching, it makes things really unfair for us real teachers. I wish i could go to a country which will accept me as working as a doctor because i have a degree. Thats basically whats happening. In Korea i have been fired for not being white. They would rather keep white people with no teaching degree in their company.

How are south african native speakers when I went to a farm over there and they could not understand English, they were all speaking Afrikaans. However they were also very racist and were almost nazis in their thinking.

In most of SE Asia they would not be considered native speakers especially if they are Black And no its not Racism. Their mother tongue isnt English.
