Rememeber, if you get a brand new metal wok, they often come with a factory sealant on them. You need to heat your wok on high and let the sealant burn off, do this right side up and upside down so the entire wok gets super heated. Clean and reheat again, then season with oil till the oil starts to smoke on all parts of the wok. Rinse out the oil and you should be good to go. A well seasoned wok is key to good cooking with it. Do not use it right off the shelf or everything will stick and burn. Also keep your wok oiled when stored to prevent corrosion.

Nephews, I give you A for effort, you need a larger pot for lobster and time your lobster next time so it doesn’t over cook. You nephews are young and need a kitchen table or counter top that is higher as well as a set of cookware for practice. I am impressed with you using correct spices and setting the mood with the bamboo leaf. Take it from your Auntie!

You have to burn your wok with til its brown/black before first use or else it will be sticky. Also if you want to cook an egg in the wok the steps are; Heat up the wok with oil whilst rolling it around Get rid of the oil in a little bowl Heaten up the wok again til u see white smoke Add the old oil again into the wok and reheat til warm again Enjoy non sticky wok for all your needs :)

That's the think some people don't understand. There's many types of sambal. As the one used in the video, sambal ulek is from Indonesian. The sambal uncle Roger always mention is sambal belacan. Also in India also have sambal but they called it Sambar.

This is good. Tell you what. Have another collab with Uncle Roger. This time discuss with him what food/ dishes that he want to eat, announce to him that you all practice the said dish (give a certain time of amount; maybe 1 month to practice). Along the way, do a (or some) videos about you practicing cooking the dish and try to get an honest opinion from your friends (other RU-vidrs also can). And then when you're ready, invite Uncle Roger again. I'd love to see that.

Great video but fyi - lobsters can definitely feel pain and there are a lot more humane ways of killing them than just straight into the pot, like dry freezing first and then quickly chopping off their heads when you take them out

Malaysia / Indonesia / Singapore / Brunei : Rice = Nasi Fried = Goreng So it's called Nasi Goreng. I know nasi goreng is Indonesia's national dish but these countries also eat nasi goreng and they also call it nasi goreng. We shared the same language.. what else are we supposed to call it 🤣.. not that we are claiming it's ours.. I'm malaysian and been to Indonesia and lemme tell you one of the best fried rice I ever had was in Indonesia Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih.. I had it for dinner on my first day in Jakarta.. pls tell me where else in Indonesia have the best nasi goreng.. i would love to visit

This video should be titled, "Uncle Roger Teaches Unprepared Home Cooks How to Make Fried Rice".

Where I live, bananas grow everywhere like weeds. In fact, banana trees create clumps, kind of like bamboo, where a bunch of shoots will start to grow off the side and make new trees. And since you only want each clump to have only 3 pups at a time so they can focus on making fruit instead of growing the pups, you have to constantly remove new pups. You can give these to friends, sell them, or throw them away if you have too many. And since bananas grow in ditches, on the side of the road, and by parking lots, if you don't have a banana tree, you can just dig up a pup for free, or ask a neighbor who has too many. Then you can grow your own leaves for free. And a happy banana tree, that you fertilize with compost, can produce a new leaf each week per, where the leaves can get over 2 meters. And since a clump will have multiple trees, you can get several leaves per week. It's crazy to imagine paying $4 for a banana leaf, since in many places they are an unlimited resource. Banana trees grow and reproduce so fast.
