Really appreciate your work i noticed lowered anciety and clarity within 12 hrs really struggling with blood pressure and watched your vid 3x potassium thanks heaps
Are you shitting me? Look at those data points! Unbelievable. If there is a person who watches this video and doesn’t go out and buy some magnesium threonate immediately…. What’s your deal? What a fantastic video. What a public service.
@@CT-ob2bweverybody's different. it may take your body longer. just start using it. different types of magnesium take time to crossthe blood-brain barrier on a daily basis. I would give it at least 2 months or a full bottles worth of taking the pills before you decide if it's not working. no matter what you definitely want play magnesium that's going to cross the blood-brain barrier
I appreciate the thorough data and research supported presentation. Your video presents with very helpful content. I am on my way to get this and will report outcome. I have been taking Magnesium but will startMagnesium L- threonate.
I've been taking magnesium glycinate for 6 months and it's helped dial down my chronic anxiety ALOT. Also I can now sleep so deeply without having to wake up several times per night before I began taking magnesium glycinate. I hope this helps someone.
@@charlotteknutsen7262 I’ve suffered with anxiety for 34 years, I started taking magnesium 2 years ago and it’s helped my anxiety go away!! I wish 34 years ago someone would have told me about magnesium glycinate because I’ve suffered so much with anxiety to the point that I stopped driving for over 5 years! I started driving again 2 1/2 years ago and I just recently started driving on the freeway again!! Everyone I encounter that tells me that they have anxiety I’m so happy to tell them about my experience and I tell them to get magnesium that it’s life changing!
Yes totally agree with the glycinate sleep better brain is better I'm going to look into this one as well where to order locally thank you for your comment much more blissfulness to you❤❤❤❤
2000 mg of Magnesium L-Threonate is close to 140 mg of elemental magnesium due to its low absorption of about 7%. Because of this I don't see a problem with taking three times that amount, or 6 grams a day, if this is the only magnesium you get. What I do is use 4 grams a day (280 mg of elemental) of L-Threonate and add another form of magnesium to get the rest I need but only do this because of the expense of Mag. L-Threonate being so high as a MIT patented substance. Perhaps 280 mg of elemental from L-Threonate is a waste, I just don't know, maybe only half that is enough if you add another form of magnesium which is much less expensive. At 66 years of age I have found a marked improvement of cognitive function including memory after a couple of weeks taking it but some report taking 6 weeks to see great results.
I was looking for a video explaining the benefits of MgLT and listened to Dr. Clayton's thoughts. I don't leave many comments on RU-vid, but I had to leave one today! I was blown away by the amount of clear evidence and research for supporting MgLT and the combination of lecture and captions to help me learn along the way. I was so impressed by the content that I subscribed to Dr. Clayton's YT channel. Dr. Clayton, well done, sir! If all your videos are this thorough and you're putting out this kind of beneficial content, you've earned my following indeed! I'm so fired up about taking MgLT and look forward to seeing even better benefits in the next three months (I'm currently 48 and want to keep my brain and neurotransmitters as healthy as possible). Grateful to have found your video today, and God bless!
Dear Dr. Clayton I have been taking Mg- Glycinate and is really good for me, as I came across your channel and watching your videos and subscribed. How can I trust the website ( on Amazon as well ) what they are offering.? ( I’ve bought something from Amazon it was not what it said to be) Please if you have known who’s you can trustworthy, Please share, much appreciated, thanks in advance. God bless you and your family.🙏❤️
Hey Doc, just started Bisglycinate. Great for sleep but your post is exciting! I've tried 2 other mag. But 1 caused a BAD tummy & the other caused what felt like a heart attack! Heavy, strong & fast pounding heart. I badly want to try the 1 that you are suggesting! Any tips? Thank you so very much! ❤❤❤🎉 Amazing information. God has made all that we need!
Was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia but suffered from it all my life. The meds my doctor prescribed creates dependency and have some serious side effects which I decided not to take. What I started taking instead is Magnesium L-Threonate since it heals pain and brain fog that's all I really need. Thank you doctor for sharing the benefits of this wonderful magnesium.
@@veronical3135 i really hope you caught it early. Because it gets worse if you don’t. PLEASE READ TO THE END. I KNOW ITS LONG. SORRY. I am not here to throw family under the bus but 1) ALWAYS go to bed EARLY. You, as a person with Fibro, need a ton of sleep. Yoga won’t help you. Only REM dreaming sleep will. Otherwise your Fibromyalgia gets worse sadly. I’m not a doctor but almost became a psychologist a long time ago. The point is I was able figure out that fibromyalgia pain has stages JUST LIKE CANCER. My mom has what I’d call Stage 4 pain. Then again it might only be Stage 3. I don’t want to know what Stage 4 is if that’s true. No matter what meds she takes it’s not quite enough. She takes a pretty close to a boatload of meds and supplements TWICE a day. And takes opioids several times a day to fend off the paralysis of overwhelming pain. She’s an expert on it but found stuff too late. Even if you did get it early, find a good TMS brain stimulation program near you and at least find a good pain doctor who can give you any pain meds if you need it. And consider vagus nerve stimulation too. It deals with the high anxiety and almost pre-pain you get from not sleeping or too much stress or both. Hope this is helpful to you.
The capsules of magnesium glycinate that I take are 665 mg but the label says this delivers 120 mg of magnesium. I assume that the same kind of relationship holds with magnesium L-threonate, so 2000 mg of mgLT has just a fraction of that mass in elemental magnesium. The RDA is based on elemental magnesium, I think, so my 650 mg capsules reached only a fraction of the RDA.
Doctor! I am a 60 YOW and yes, when I fully mineralized my brain function is sharp. I just use Citrate not Threonate. It’s been 5 years since my husband and I have been taking between 350 to 700 mg of Mag Citrate. No leg cramps, no pains, and great and improving brain function. ….I describe it as I think more logically. I also read a lot, teach myself new things. We also take a very good omega, D3, k2, and collagen. I tried Threonate and did not see any great improvements.I might try it again. You provided some very good convincing evidence. Maybe I can get even better results!!
Thank you for this such important information which, though somewhat technical, is quite comprehensive. This news is very new to me and most surprising since we are told by doctors that brain decline is irreversible, let alone Alzheimer’s. Thus, I have a few questions and hope you kindly find the time to to be enlighten me. What to do when someone has been diagnosed and medicated for Alzheimer’s for many years? Should our magnesium levels be tested before we start taking it? You mention that once we start taking magnesium we should not stop it, but is there a risk of having excessive levels of magnesium that can be harmful? Do you recommend a kind of supplement that combines the several types of magnesium for multiple symptoms (cognitive and physical)? Thank you in advance! I look forward to learning more with you as the content of your videos is so important and explained in such an excellent manner.
HI DOCTOR,could I ask if magnesium is good for a brain anuersym? I have a small 2mm and want to prevent High blood pressure .I have pulsatile tinnitus also.
@@suewagner4555 I wish you had a reply, mine is 4mm I also have tinnitus. I do take the magnesium gliconate, have not heard of any contraindication. I was considering the L threonate though.
Thank you Dr Clayton. I’m gonna go home and check which magnesium I’ve been taking as a supplement. I def prefer the one with the best results - - long term. Very informative video❤
Make a point of at least 2 black bean burritos per week plus at least a meal with large amount of fresh spinach and also a meal of potatoes with skin on as good or better than synthetic version?!?!?
Do protton pump inhibitors block the absorpsioon of magnesium? If so, would double the dose be a good idea? Also, can we take several types of magnesiums at the same time. I also to take citrate and glycol.
I stopped taking my CALM magnesium, because my blood pressure went too low. Don’t think magnesium is good for people with low blood pressure. What do you think Doc ?
I have MS and I was really excited when I saw this video and I purchased the magnesium L Threeonate. Within a day or two I started sweating profusely in the house and I stayed on it for two weeks and it continued to do that. I looked it up and it says that especially this formulation can do that to you so I took myself off of it. Sad to say.
I TAKE MAGNESIUM THREONATE AND I MIGHT AS WELL BE TAKING SMARTIES. HE DIDNT EVEN MENTION ANXIETY! NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAIN! I SUFFER WITH CHRONIC ANXIETY.
I sympathize with your situation but now you have reminded me of my childhood love of Smarties (I believe they are called Smarties only in Canada? And called M&M’s in the US? I may have that wrong). Anyway, I hope you are able to find help…anxiety sucks. I’ve found that age, better sleep, meditation and exercise all help…but if you have young kids then I’m not sure there are any good answers, lol. Regardless, wishing you well.
Great share, Dr. Clayton! I've heard a number of vlogs and podcasts recently about how deficient we all are in Magnesium, so I thank you for adding L-Threonate to the discussion!! Many thanks for the time it took putting this information together! We really appreciate you dearly here!! 🙏
@@drdaveclayton thank you Dr. I’m 60 with brain fog and I’m so afraid because my grandmother and mother had Alzheimer’s I eat very clean and I don’t use meds but I’m still having brain fog I am going to buy Lthreonate magnesium but there’s anything else I can do? Love your video and my first time seeing you God bless you 🙏
If taking Magnesium L-threonate, is there still a benefit or requirement to take one of the other Magnesium's such as Mg Citrate (only laxative in excess amounts, citrate counters kidney stones )?
Helps me sleep. I haven't noticed any pain or anxiety benefits. But the sleep helps with both of those so even if it doesn't help directly then indirectly certainly. only been taking it for about two weeks though.
Doc. I need clarification. RDA for magnesium is around say 350 or 420mg (rough estimate) for women. Does this number only apply to elemental magnesium? I'm taking a magnesium L-Threonate that is 2g (2000 mg), that comes with 144 mg elemental magnesium. Am I overdoing the magnesium ? Would it cause any problems? Do I need to just find a brand that doesn't have anything else but mag L-threonate?
Unfortunately l-threonate is expensive because there is a patent on it called Magtein. You can buy cheap non-Magtein l-threonate from unknown brands but no one trust them.
I suffer from bipolar depression and just found out L-threonate and glycinate. Glycinate gave me energy which I lack daily. L-threonate does wonder to my focus and concentration. Overall, the manic and depressive episodes are greatly minimized.
Dr Clayton, I just came across this video today, thank you for the excellent information provided. Please could you clarify how much of MgL- threonate one has to take to get 2000mg of Mg that is required. From my research into what is available in the market I found that 2000mg of MgL-threonate will only give 144g of Mg, this is very low and one would need to take about 10 capsules of MgL-threonate to get 1440mg of Mg. Please clarify. Thanks.
Can I take a few different magnesium’s at one time? I currently am taking 1 where the amt is 400mg I think. Is it ok to take other forms at those higher amts at same time? I see the benefits of each & how they’d help me, but concerned it’s not safe. Then I’m going to have to decide which issue I care more about helping though & take only 1 form over another. 😢
So then you'd have to take about 20 pills of magnesium L threonate a day? As typically it comes in 100-150 mg per pill. That's a crazy number of pills.
Hi there could you take magnesium while breastfeeding? Also does magnesium citrate help the general intake at all? I lnow it makes you use the bathroom, and Im ok with thhat as well. This is only temporarily until I can order some magnesium L Threonate. Thank you for this wonderful information. 😊
I tried magnesium before for general health, but it dangerously lowered my blood pressure so I stopped taking it. I don’t remember exactly which magnesium, but it wasn’t anything special, I just picked up whatever was at the store - run of the mill magnesium.
I’m glad I heard your topic about magnesium. I started taking this type of magnesium lately and it really help to keep me focus on my day to day schedule. Plus I sleep well at night. Glad I found your video today. Thank you.
I’ve been taking magnesium glycinate for over a year.. recently upped my dose to 400 mg in evening to (please!!!) help with disruption of sleep. I have the dreaded 1am or 3am “ let’s think about lots of stuff and go over every song lyric you heard today” issue. Maddening! Would threonate be better for this? I feel the glycinate helps a lot, and I have had some good nights since upping my dose, but it’s still an issue -like last night. Of course, the brain benefits do seem tempting to try-so do you give up one for the other or use both? Also, the expense would be more, for sure. On retirement fixed income is no joke! Thank you for this wonderful video with excellent research. Such a blessing to have this information.
@@Barb6106 Avoid Magnesium before bedtime, it is a myth that it helps to sleep better. It is much more beneficial to use Magnesium during day time. Give it a try! Potassium is best mineral before bedtime. I use it as a powder mixed in water and it is fantastic for my sleep and muscle recovery from the hard workday or sport.
Glycinate is better for sleep. Threonate is better for the brain. I take mag Glycinate before bed and mag Threonate in the morning. Find what works for you.
Take both. Magnesium Glycinate is best taken in 2 doses morning and afternoon before 3pm. After 3 it could cause sleep problems. Take L-Threonate in evening after six or before bed. Foods today don’t give enough magnesium absorption at the cellular level. Blood serum checks are meaningless. Eat plenty of animal based fats, e.g. grass fed ribeye steaks, liver, heart, pasture raised eggs with yolks being the best part, grass fed butter, grass fed raw milk and cream. Cook with tallow, lard, or ghee. Use coconut, olive and avocado oils as dressings without heating to higher than 200F. Be diligent to rid of seed oils from your diet, e.g. canola, soy, cottonseed, corn, etc. seed oils are in almost every processed product including breads. Eliminating seed oils will do wonders for overall health but it will take years to rid them from your body.
Hey Doc do you have any information on how I can repair the myelin sheath? I had an MRI years ago which showed wear. I suffer with brain fog I find it difficult to concentrate and just feel yuk. 🙏
I take magnesium L-Threonate by Vitamin Shop. I had been on Citalopram for years and couldn’t get off of it until I started taking this form of magnesium. This leads me to question if my depression/anxiety was due to a deficit of magnesium to begin with.
