I take Magnesium Bisglycinate made by Canadian company Jadin Nutraceuticals because it is the only one I have been able to find that doesn't have magnesium stearate, which is a flow agent that is hard on the liver. I take one in the morning and about 2 hrs before bed I take Magnesium-L Threonate made by another Canadian company called Organika. This helps with my sleep and menopause transition brain
Thanks, I'm just taking magnesium, and you know, it's working. I've been taking it for a week. The reason I started taking it was because I used to get really angry🤬 at every little thing...
Dr Kim. Thank you for this review. I have been taking Calm powder for about 5 years. I am 60. It helps with maintaining my blood pressure, joint/muscle pain, and overall well being. I might try your suggested brands only because I notice that the Calm irritates my bladder. It seems to cause a stinging type of pain when I take a full dose of Calm all at once. I have been trying to add a scoop now to my daily water and sip on it all daylong.
This is a very informative video. All the magnesium supplements available are so confusing even after one tries to research them. Your video was very thorough and helped make sense and helped me determine which one to purchase. Thank you for your recommendation. I'm looking forward to more videos.
@sanpansam7977 I also take Country Life chelated mg glycinate 400mg. I take it anytime between dinner and bedtime. Started taking it to get rid of muscle spasms, which it did but I also found it helps me sleep.
Starting taking mag glycerinate for A fib, it worked! Really fantastic benefits, i mix it up a bit with various mg but really see the difference, born with co arch aorta, bi cuspid aortic valve, have type 2, but at 65 going strong. Thank you for sharing your advice
Dr. Mercola Magnesium L-threonate (145mg elemental for 2g), KAL Magnesium Taurate+ and Periodic Magnesium Bis-Gycinate. You can judge L-threonate amounts, as too much and you'll sleep all day.
Please go into more detail for magnesium taurate for high blood pressure and cholesteroland what to look for as a quality product on the market. Thank you
Very good review . I take several magnesiums . Magnesium glycinate by solary . And mag citrate.by solary. I mite try now . After you showed the study .
Damn... I just reordered my magnesium glycinate yesterday. I wish I had either waited a day or seen this video a day earlier. And I almost ordered the one that you recommended. The brand I ordered is Doctor's Best.
This video is so incredible that it didn't just tell me what magnesium is about. it explains to me why in my life i cannot become a doctor. (i couldn't pass school.)
Magnesium oil spray from a glass bottle is an excellent form of magnesium supplementation. You have not done your homework or clinical experience. I have done this with excellent results.
I've read in a few places (forgot the exact sources, but they seemed knowledgeable) that Magnesium Sulfate is a good form to use when taking an Epsom Salt Bath. (i.e., soaking in it, in order to absorb transdermally). Sally K. Norton, for example, recommends this recipe: 2 cups of high quality Magnesium Sulfate, plus 1/2 cup Baking Soda, plus 1/2 cup Potassium Bicarbonate - dissolved into a warm bath. Then soaking for 20 minutes. 30 minutes at most. As a way to transdermally get more than one healthy mineral into one's body, more efficiently, compared to just orally ingesting various healthy mineral supplements. But I don't know if the absorption rate, transdermally, of the different possible forms of Epsom Salt Bath magnesiums, differs significantly. In other words, the "efficiency" of bodily absorption. Also, I've read elsewhere that Chloride is an important mineral, which the body can well make use of. Not sure of the comparative benefits -- based on the idea of "which mineral is more likely to be deficient?" Sulfate vs. Chloride, etc. I don't know if I've ever seen a presentation on supplemental magnesium that goes into that level of detail (RE: epsom salt baths, that is, and which brands and forms are likely to be best ... for different people's health conditions.)
I take magnesium glycinate but I still get muscle cramps and pain I also have high BP so which one and dose I should be taking? Also please share which brand I should buy! Please help my BS is high and I am worried my doc said it is from diabetes he said it could be hereditary but I dont believe that because I have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever of diabetes and nobody in my family has it. And I an doung keto diet fasting f I r 18 hrs a day eating in a window of 6 hrs. But even if I eat low card and no sugar it is still reading high. I AM VERY WORRIED.
Epsom Salt baths are great foe heat rash and "prickly heat" rash as well as mosquito bites.. as well as removing pus from infected scratches and slivers etc..
Just started taking Nutritionn Magnesium Glycinate that has 212.50 mg (2x) of elemental magnesium (elemental magnesium is recommended by other doctors in youtube) and taking it with 2000 mg of vitamin d3. Doc, is it true that you need at least 5000 to 10k of vitamin d3?
Magnesium glycinate, a highly absorbable form of magnesium, offers numerous benefits. It can improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety and stress, alleviate constipation and other digestive issues, and decrease PMS symptoms. Additionally, magnesium glycinate supports heart health, bone density, and muscle function while potentially lowering the risk of migraines and chronic pain.
Thanks for sharing such detailed (and specific) information :) I've read also, somewhere, that Magnesium Glycinate (when ingested orally, as a supplement) will result in magnesium levels in the body (i.e., blood, and/or bodily tissues) of significantly longer duration, as compared with ingesting other forms of magnesium. In other words, it will "last longer". Thus, it is a preferred form, if a a person wants to have consistently higher levels of Mg remaining in their body - over time. Rather than having "peaks", or spikes, of elevated Mg levels, which reduce or dissipate more rapidly, and fall into suboptimal levels if a person forgets to supplement (orally ingest) frequently enough, in order to keep those levels elevated - and the supply of bio-available Magnesium plentiful. At all times, or at least during the most important times. All of this is presuming, on my part, that Mg acts something like a "water soluble" vitamin, and doesn't get stored by the body very well. Such as fat soluble vitamins do (for example) making the timing and frequency of their intake less important -- as compared to the water soluble vitamins, which need to be taken more frequently if a person wants to maintain optimal (or better) levels of them.
Thank you Doctor! Finally someone that explains this confusing subject magnesium that I understand and your video is very calming without all the hype others add. Please specify the he amount of each of the brands you take because I am ordering both brands you suggested.🤔 Thank you so much! Have a peaceful day
Every MD on YT should post a disclaimer which shows whether they spoke out against or supported the vaccines of 2021 - 2023, so we know how honest they are and whether we can trust them to tell us the truth.
I agree, especially after hearing him recommend Pure Encapsulation. I completely trusted that brand until Nestle bought them out. Even my chiropractor stopped ordering their supplements. Cant confirm any monkey business but just knowing who is behind them is enough for me.
We were happily vaccinated, so forget it & btw, it brought down massive mortalities from COVID. However,if you were happy with the many deaths from COVID, don't include our Doctors in your hobby 😊
Thank you indeed for an informative video. I am presently using Magnesium Glycinate that is chelated, and has Boron too. What would be the benefit or effect of Boron in my system?
Just curious….most articles I’ve seen have said you need a minimum of 400mg per day of magnesium glycinate….but your recommended product here is only 120mg. Is that enough?
Dr Leonid Kim, thank you! Could you please explain if this supplement could cause kidney stones or kidneys function to be impacted, or have effect on other organs besides brain (depression - does it raise serotonin levels), and heart (what does it exactly do for your heart and Cholesterol and Triglycerides and Lipoprotein Lpl(a) and other markers for Heart), and what effect does it have on Blood Glucose and does it have any impact on Insulin Resistance (Pre-Diabetes) or Diabetes?
Thank you for this video. As i was taking vit d3. When i saw Dr Berg's video he explained how d3 bonds to protiens and wont seperate to become effective without magnesium glycinate. He mentioned dosage amounts that are higher than reccomended by established papers. But it seems there are reasons for that that are more buisness than medical. Can you discuss effective and ineffective dosage? As the companies all play games with words, and UI and mgl and equivalents of dosages. No one thats an MD will touch this and it seems to be very important. And the supplement companies know this and use it to sell 240 pills bu t to get a true months effective supply you need like 6 or 8 pills a day. Its all very confusing.
Hi great information as far as magnesium you did not specifically touch on the magnesium I should be taking. I took the hydroxy 25 test and I’m sorry it’s the D 25 hydroxy test. It seems that I have too much vitamin D in my system. I did some research and I am taking magnesium citrate to hopefully soak up all that extra vitamin D? But listening to you about the proper best is magnesium to use for this situation. The closest one that I could come to and I probably wasn’t really paying attention was magnesium citrate. I’m not sure am I taking the right one I had read about this test and mentioned it to my Doctor with he in return wanted to know where I had heard about it. So could you take a few minutes out? I am over here in Hawaii and I certainly would like to know if I am taking the right magnesium and I should be taking something with it thanks for your time. Aloha from Hawaii.
I take natural vitality calm. Either the powder or the gummies. But I think I might benefit from the 3 in one you recommended. Thank you for some really great information.
Unless I missed it, I'm surprised and curious why you didn't mention magnesium gluconate which is what I take for muscle cramps. I was under the impression that gluconate and glycinate were two of the most popular types.
I like magnesium glycinate it was great . But it interacts with my meds being Paxil Klonopin I started getting heart palpitations so I stopped. I wish I can take it without a problem. Do you have any advice
I take glycinate and it helped my leg and foot cramps almost 99%. I got the worst daily cramps and actually it was an after effect… I didn’t know it helped with that, I started taking it to calm and relax my heart as I got POTS after covid a few years back and it helped slow down my heart rate and chest pains etc. then all of a sudden my cramping was merely gone! So I know it works! I got one off Amazon and it did the trick 🤷♀️ U could say placebo but I didn’t even know it worked in cramps so NOPE.
I take Ocean Organics Pure Magnesium Glycinate which is chelated. I'm not sure if I'm wasting money or not. How can I find an internal medicine doctor like you where I live? I did have one who was my first hormone therapy doctor, but he retired.
This video was very good. I use 3 in 1 Advanced Magnesium Complex Vegan capsules by Magtein for a long time. It has my three favorite forms in it. They especially make my sleep much better at night. I can tell when I forget to take one.
Informative as always. Can you say if any of those would typically be vegan? I notice that a lot of them may not be based on what you said about the sources of the ingredients.
