To respond immediately to an opponent's attack is great habit to instill. I suppose the point with this is that one must ensure that they are in physical condition to do so. Respect to Mr. Chan for always putting forth such great information.
I started doing this a couple weeks back after watching some of the content and I've already felt a major difference in my return strikes. Thank you for passing along your knowledge dude!
I never used to counter hit in sparring but stated to recently and noticed a big difference in my spars, it keeps the sparring partner guessing and do they not strike as often
OK Jeff give us one of the most amazing sparring videos ever you and Stephen Thompson you both are fast mov in and out quickly have unique fighting stances and strategies it would be amazing!!!
I always liked doing this because I am good at head kicks, but there was one of the guys from the team that could kick from crazy angles and even when we are in clinch distance 😂 After him I wasn't worried about head kicks too much...😊 End yes it's really demanding training but the reward is also really good 👍
Been telling my guys to do this for almost 2 years now and they think im insane, but watch, theyll bump into this video and act like theyve never heard of it before 😂😂😂😂
Bro The way you were explaining how this drill will help you and describing all of it's benefits while not saying what kind of drill it's called made me think the whole video is just you describing how helpful it is as an April Fools prank 😂
Question for Jeff and the audience of this video: I go to an mma gym at the moment and They have 4 classes, mma, Muay Thai, and boxing and gi/no gi jiujitsu with a fundamentals class twice a week. For EVERY class there’s a technique, for example, 1,2,3 low kick and the partner exchanges the same punch. Or one person jabs and the other defends. Then we go to a light spar or one doing offense and one doing defense. I don’t feel like their focused on development, but more so having people “feel” like their “fighters” for the day. Would this be worth staying at or finding a different place?
I would say that is a good drill to get better. It is hard to know whether they are really "having people feel like their fighters for the day" based off your example.
@@MMAShredded those are the vibes I’m getting “people feel like their fighters for the day”. They gave a girl a stripe on her white belt because she was “consistent” even though she’s been attending bjj class for 2-3 weeks.
@@monkwushu2305 One thing to notice if you're in a good gym: Do their fighters win fights? Titles? Maybe even national titles or international ones? I went to a boxing gym with 2 national champions in it. Then switched to a muay thai gym where they had many fighters as well and after I left one guy who joined when I did got national champion as well. It's a good way of comparing the quality of the gym, because you can see how your gym mates do against other gyms
@@whoknows8223 they have people that fight and compete out of the gym, some won and some don’t. Recently a guy entered golden gloves and we have two mma fighters rn. Still attending the gym currently. We don’t use head gear when we spar, even beginners with no experience.
Could be momentary. We all have certain time periods where we feel stagnant in our growth. Another thing could be that you’re not trying new things. New techniques, new strategies, new conditioning, etc. it’s good to visit the fundamentals and the basics from time to time but we have to expand our toolkit and understanding of an art to improve at it, then refine it. Try approaching sparring differently, studying different kinds of fighters, and doing different drills.
The Shinguards your Partner is using, would you be so kind to ask him his height and the model of his shinguards? Fairtex sp3? iam sparring in yakkaos they are really bulky, would be nice to know. thanks.
