Somehow on vrchat, the headset compresses the sound the same and there is not much difference between the integrated and the lapel mic, even though outside of vr just using It on the pc it sounds much better then the vive mic .

Hey, hope someone is still reading this, but why do you need an extension cable when the linked lavalier mic is 78inches/2m long? It should be more than enough to plug it in the vr headset and then wrap it around your neck or whatever. I tried connecting my normal usb mic to the vive but the headset won't connect the normal microphone. Someone knows why?

Hmm. I picked up a lav mic but for some reason when plugged into the vive's USB port it appears in device manager but the mic wont pick up any audio.

for what reason do you need the usb extension cable? i mean cant you just plug the microphone directly in ? do i need the extention cable?

Yes the pro has a usb c port right next to the cable at powers the headset behind a panel you need to gently take off dunno bout the pro 2 however

I think the Vive Pro 2 might have a usb-c connection instead but I cannot confirm, as I don't have one.

Thanks for the how-to! Why not plug the microphone USB directly into the headset?

If the USB connector of the microphone is too thick then there is not enough clearance for it to plug directly into the vive. If you use a USB thin extender you can avoid this issue.
