@72 I have this same problem and was falling some times, usually on my face! Now when walking on our rock & dirt road to the mail box I pretend I'm back in HS band and march to the mail box lifting my feet up. Haven't tripped once in 2 years. Works for me.

I’ve had a few falls walking up the stairs tripping on pant legs. Shorten your pants if you need to and don’t be lazy. Use handrails. We have also installed shower handrails on the few steps leading out the back door for when we take the dog out. Walk down stairs slowly if you have bifocals. The steps look closer than they really are. You will fall.

Don't try to walk down when wearing bifocals. Once, working as an inspector, I began to walk off the horizontal stabilizer of a large transport aircraft and was saved by a mechanic who pulled me back.

One of the hardest parts with some of these exercises is that we don't know how to do them properly. Or sometimes we all need a little help to get all the parts done right. Using the heating pad and the massage tool before the stretches are great examples of this. So great to see Bob and maybe you could demonstrate more on Bob since it would help many spouses and partners share in these exercises along together. 💕🕊

@@RealD5 Making progress; it is a slow process. Bought an adjustable incline board (15% to 35%) to stretch my calves. Did three 10 second stretches on each calf every day at 15% for a week plus. Today, moved to a 20% incline and three 10 second stretches each calf. Have been back to work for five weeks now - ankle still swollen, but I notice small improvements in my range of motion and mobility. Still doing ROM exercises at home. Signed up to walk a 5K at the end of March.

Guys, I like it. Suggestion: what I am very watchful of as an old guy of 74 with knee issues (from overuse running thousands of miles) plus double vision (from a retinal deformity-- since corrected-- maybe caused by chemo) is BALANCE. Welcome ways to improve balance. Sorry I didn't go back to check if you already covered that. My cousin, a nationally-ranked champion tennis player in the early 60s, now close to 80, seriously hurt herself bending over to pick up a pill or something on the bathroom floor, and crashing. Balance, balance, balance. That's what I need. Both physical and mental.

I was always falling up or down stairs and tripping while walking, as a child. That continued into adulthood. Years ago a dictor told me it was my vision. I have poor depth perception. I have to be very careful walking up or down aisles and stairs in a movie theater or a concert venue. I am much more careful now that I'm 65. I get now, that it's also a matter of picking my feet up and stretching properly. Thank you for the advice! Love you guys.

Thank you for this new video Bob & Brad. I sure enjoy them! Have been getting an extreme charlie horse in the arch of both feet every time I point my toe. Will these exercises help stop that painful arch pain? Have been getting those for many years. Someone else's vid about plantar fasciitis healing suggested stretching the two muscle groups for two minutes each, rather than switching between the bent- and straight-leg positions. It helps, but I need to do this regularly (RLS shortens the Achilles tendon). I also wiggle and stretch my toes to restore nerves damaged by longterm gabapentin use.

Wow! That feels great! About 3 months ago I vowed to start walking everyday and since then have let my dog walk me between 1-2 miles almost every day. The problem is that everything hurts - ankle, knee, and especially the SI joint. I know that my left ankle is weak and turns in, so figure i probably need better shoes, but I had no idea that an ankle could be weak and tight at the same time. I did this exercise and felt instant relief all the way to my hips. Do you have any other advice for weak/tight ankles? Or recommendations for shoes?

Thanks for this info .. I will do these stretches! My left foot drags and makes me stumble sometimes since having 3 left hip replacements in 2018. I just don’t have the strength in that leg to lift my foot up enough. Hopefully this will help.

Have you seen a manual therapist to check your fascia mobility on your legs. Restricted fascia will restrict muscle function.

I did the 3" toe set back knee to wall test. Easy. I tried seeing how far I got on staircase ankle bends, and got over 70 degrees of flexion. It seems this is one area where my legs are better than most. Maybe it's all the calf raises and ankle pumps I do for my lower limb edema.

I enjoy the information you present. I'm 78, and just this morning, I caught myself falling. I wonder how that even happened since I was making breakfast and hardly moving! And providence had me here watching this video. It shows falling, or in my case, nearly falling, occurs when you least expect it.

Thats a great lot of information I need to do every ankles one of those stretches feet and ankles feel like they've been dipped in a bowl of starch. Where do I find these aids .I searched on Amazon especially for the glider nothing showed up .

I have arthritis in my right knee. I did the stretch and could hear all sorts of noises. I did the stretch several times and the noises stopped. Good to know there is a way to work the knee joint too. I would guess this is good for it.

My cat LOVES the massage gun. His jaw mostly. I just set it down and he rolls all over the gun while on the lowest setting
