Perhaps yes! Trees obviously require you to be able to make tight turns when needed, but most of it is actually just being able to look ahead and plan your route, having the confidence not to just hit the brakes too much, and being able to carry your speed around the trees without shooting down and getting stuck!

Started in '89 here, the truth is and I dont want to speak for others, is you have to decide what your terrain preference is, most long time boarders carry at least two boards for varied conditions. but a true camber is always a good start...., flat is stiff and fast and rocker, well get ready to butter up the slopes all day.....

Turning with oppositetiming is a quite practical thing, too. Whenever you have some stowboard beginter or erratic skier in front of you on a narrow piste or cat track, that you want to give room or stay away from, resp., you do that for a few turns until there's opportunity to point it and zoom past them.

You can ride pretty well after a few days with correct instruction, honestly I don't know what goes wrong with some people, but after 4 days you should be pretty good

The carved edge wiggles? This comment has actually come up on a different video bit I think that's what you mean! Yeah, you totally can do them in the fall line, obviously you will keep accelerating if it's more than a green slope so just be a careful of that! I prefer across the slope because it gives the idea of an early edge change rather than just flipping edge to edge down the slope, but both are good exercises!

Camber is predictable in how it's gonna ride, the camber can be mellower or mor more pronounced, but its always camber. (Note though, that there are other factors like e.g. stiffness or shapes that can make different camber boards very different!) With rocker there's all kind of different rocker profiles and I would say that it's more important the other traits of the board need to play well with the rocker for it not to show its disadvantages, than with camber. I learned on camber and have ridden camber for years before rocker was invunted, I have since demoed rocker boards that sucked (showing much less edge hold) and ones that I liked, and in fact I rode a hybrid rocker for some years and now have 1 camber and 2 hybrids. The disadvantage of camber people will tell you more or less passionate about (depending on their own preference) is that the better edge hold means its also easier and more nasty to catch an edge. BUT, as catching an edge is the result of wrong technique, I strongly do recommend to learn on camber - the first days may a bit harder, but your board will let you know if you use your edges wrong right away. On the bunnf hill its still without consequences and you get no opportunity to get used to bad habits (related edges, at least).

This was filmed early season on a glacier, definitely no trees up there, and no moguls either I'm afraid! Couldn't even ride off piste due to all the crevasses!

@@malcolmmoore haha, I'd say you definitely are not a Jerry (if I understand the term correctly). I've been teaching snowboarding for over 20 years and appreciate finding guys like you with proper technique - coupled with good filming/ editing. I've been tempted over the years to share what I know about snowboarding and now feel like I finally have all the technical elements in place, just trying to figure out where to start with a possible vlog.

You are the best judge of that, don't be daft and go down a run that is way beyond your ability level, and don't continue to ride if you're physically fatigued, and probably best not to do both of those things at the same time

I think it is the same model for both seasons, im not 100% on that though... it is very good at carving, the edge hold at the back end of the board isn't the best in icy conditions with the cam rock, but it can still be done. I'm going to try and get my hands on the thruster which looks a bit more of a carving machine...

@@malcolmmoore Why not Blade or Blade plus wich called "Ultimate Carving"? I've tested Escape 22/23 (camrock) and... it's not best even for newbie carver. Previous pure camber editions much better IMHO.

@@morugnirmelkoroll319 well you still have the escape plus for full camber, and of course yes you can go for the blade or blade plus, but I want an all mountain board, not just a carving board.
