1. That’s fighting games, if you don’t like guessing you should check out some competitive tic tac toe maybe that’s more your speed 2. Cutting off half the sentence not very honest bru
@@qfrostbite5041 You seem to be upset over something pretty objective. "... that doesn't mean situations always end up in a 50/50" He then proceeds to teach us OTHER 50/50s. So no I didn't misrepresent the objectively misleading statement.
@@jeremiahwise2076 His first language isn;t English, he gets a break for not phrasing things in an absolutely concise fashion. And again, you're ignoring the context provided by the 2nd half of the sentence. "I have to guess, block or throw tech?" is pretty obviously asking if there are only two options to choose from while "I have to guess" is you making up something to criticize him for when he's making good content for your scrub ass to learn from. Calling me mad won't win you any fights here bub, I really think you should consider tic tac toe if solved games and preschool insults are all you can grasp. Go ahead, do it again I'm sure it'll make you right this time!
@@qfrostbite5041 "Preschool insults"? I didn't even say anything the slightest bit hostile. You seem to be the one with an emotional stake in this, what with the "competitive tic tac toe" "scrub ass" and "bub". Context or no context, every thing he teaches in this is another coin flip decision. If you're making any kind of assumption about what I meant then that is on you. To be clear, ADDITIONAL COIN FLIPS will certainly help, but any sort of defense against this fundamental flaw of the fighting game genre being riddled with coin flips, especially from wake-up, is simply a weak one. I prefer skill over guessing, which is why I prefer (The mostly disliked) parry system of Third Strike over the defensive options of most other games. Pros like to dump on Third Strike's parry system because its the end all be all best defensive option by far, but those same pros can't even come close to being able to parry even half of all attacks thrown at them, weakening the validity of their complaint. Skillful inputs are more interesting than reads, especially in fighting games with bigger combo strings where guessing wrong results in you setting your controller on the floor for 10 seconds while the opponent slaps over 50% of your health away. So you go ahead and keep enjoying the game, just like I do, but lets not get emotional over criticising a game over it's inferior defensive options.
This video is incredible. My friends getting in the game keep getting pushed back or getting smacked up on wake up only looking for 3 options, but this explains it cleanly and concisely. Well done.
These are intermediate guard techniques. If you're barely getting into the game, I'd recommend not focusing on these yet, because they don't work unless you can identify their conditions to work.
This is a cool video... Good for those stuck in gold or platinum. Understanding how to do delay throw tech and varying my defensive options got me out of platinum. Now if only I could figure out how to get out of super diamond 🤦🏾♂️
It’s tough for me to pull off delay throw, without it registering as a wakeup throw (I’ve been told it’s a scrub move). Is it better to not attempt the delay throw option until there’s a patch?
i don't know but every time i try to backdash or jump in wake, my characters doesn't move and i eat all the combo or the crush counter. exactly where i need to do the movement?, in what time exactly?.
just one slighlty confusing point @1:30 you say some setups cover both wakeups showing alex getting combo'd on wakeup (quickrise and backrise) but right after you say it won't be meaty on both wakeups with alex shown being hit out of a jump, i dont get it?
Quickrise is about 5 frames faster than backrise (Can't confirm the hard numbers right now, this was just a quick google search), so any option that covers both will have a frame gap if you quickrise. Notice that even though he got hit out of the jump, his opponent's *next* attack whiffed because he was in the air, allowing the alex to whiff punish.
@@j.baptistecl.5758 Showing that the meaty setup stuffs mashing jab on both quickrise and backrise. If you watch the inputs on display you get the full picture.
I'm not sure if that helped me or gave me too many choices. I've been trying to get up to silver but my tap tap game needs help. I get cornned and can't keep up with trying to change it up but also have a safe Move on the counter. Its usually that 2nd level where I get beat and super punished.
With moderation, you don't want them to read your delayed backdash and eat a full combo when recovering from the backdash, sometimes it's better to just take the throw instead of taking that risk, they use everything they can depending on who they are fighting against. Delay backdash doesn't work against instant command throws though but does work against delayed command throws.
@@huevonesunltd is it not throw invincible from the first frame? I know on wake-up you have 2 frames of throw invincibility, that should be enough to backdash out of instant throw
Anime players got a good chuckle from this video because mix up doesn't truly exist on the same level in SFV with the slow ass overheads, you only throw and shimmy bait.
Guys. Someone help me here. If I do the delayed tech throw. Am I right that he means, just hang back a couple of frames ? Secondly . If I tech. Does that also not mean I am throwing out a hit so I could also get blown up from the opponents meaty ?
Delay tech means that you hold back for a couple of frames to block a meaty attack before pressing throw. The opponent has to delay their attack to catch the delay tech, so it opens up more options.
V-Reversal is good defensive option but it’s situational (with your character, v-gauge, stun, which attack you blocked etc.) what I explained in the video is more universal
You mean command throws? Most of these options still apply with regular throws after a tick attempt. Also keep in mind you have vreversal if they're trying to tick you with anything but a jab.
@@pommedemer1922 Most grappler players delay command grab to bait out DP's too. And almost every grappler in the game also has an option to catch jumps that puts you back in the mix. Jump if you have the read, but command throws are a different topic entirely and it depends on the character a lot of the time to know your options.
This is gonna sound obvious or even stupid but the best way to deal with any mixup is: "Don't be there" this is something that is taught in brazillian jiujitsu. Don't be in the mixup situation in the first place, a lot of times you don't even have to deal with it, a lot of times you just can be out of the way specially if you're out of the corner.
@@floofyharu5875 I can give you sone basic definitions DP or Dragon Punch usually refers to a characters get-off-me tool that has invincible startup. For someone like Ryu, its literally his EX Dragon Punch I can also explain shit like "shimmy" and "meaty" for you if you want
@@floofyharu5875 The term "Meaty" is used to describe an attack that hits the opponent very late, which is most easily done while they're waking up from a knockdown. The benefits to this include beating an opponent whos mashing (in lower ranks they almost always mash) or in the case that they block it, they get to be stuck in the normal amount of blockstun while you recover from your attack animation faster than usual. A "shimmy" is pretty straightforward. As your opponent is getting up, you make your character walk backwards a split second before walking forwards and throwing them. This beats people who like to mash throw on their wakeup, since you step just outside their throw range before tossing them, and it also psyches out those trying to block. The name comes from the fact that you're literally making your character shimmy back and forth. And by Juri stuff, do you mean specific terms people use when talking about her, or are you just asking about general tips and tricks?
Ah, the only SF game where wakeup jab, and wakeup jump are good options! People still caring about this lackluster piece of shit game? Why? The community wants SF6 already. Game Sucks.
