This is the video I've been waiting for, lol. It's so frustrating when that arc hits your foot and throws your rythm off over and over again. It makes you want to quit trying, so I really appreciate this upload.

gt72 nice to hear that mate, hopefully this can get rid of that issue quickly ⚡️ and I agree - that is very frustrating (especially when you get a whipping across the back/chest/face for it!)

I've been meaning to comment on this video since it was released. This video has changed my jumping posture significantly. I have been focused on my wrists for years now as they are a key in improving control. This video helped me think about the handles and NOT my wrists. It's easier to control your handles than it is to control your wrists. Because by controlling your handles you are controlling your wrists. I have made significant improvements in my cross over accuracy since focusing on my handle placement. This video is a gem Glenn!

OH YES! Really stoked to hear that; it's a great feeling to get a message like this. Simply because I will never forget what it's like to struggle with a technique for a while and then finally make the breakthrough. It is often the tiny, subtle details-details you might not be able to pick up just by looking at someone doing it. Thanks for the update Shawn, stay progressing 🚀🚀 Cheers, -Glen

@@RopeRage No problem mate I hope you’re okay, your health takes priority over RU-vid. I look forward to your comeback when you are ready as your videos are always quality. I’m all good man just trying to improve incrementally every week. Not easy at all sometimes feels like I’ll never reach the level I aspire too, but I’ll keep putting in the work. Just spending time on the basics at the moment perfecting the one arm swings, side swings and cross over

Also, apologies for the delayed reply here - the past few weeks were crazy getting things together for our launch of the Rope Rage training handbook last weekend. THANK YOU 🙏 ! This video cleared up the exact issue I have from time to time when my rope goes wonky on me. I figured it had to do with my hand position to some extent but I also thought it was due to me not holding the rope far enough away on the sides. It’s funny how it always seems to be the small things that make the biggest difference. Like you, my state here in the US has a mandatory stay at home order, so I’m grateful I have my rope and a very good home gym set up so I can stay fit and not go stir crazy! Stay safe and healthy, Glen, and keep the videos coming; they help in more ways than just pure instruction :)

no thank YOU Sonya 😎enjoyed reading your message. I try to do what I can to provide a bit more than just a jump rope workout - takes a lotta time and effort but messages like these make it worth it! You're right in that the small details make a huge difference; I could make a whole video on how gripping at slightly different points on the handle has a big difference. Enjoy your home training - I will keep the videos coming! Cheers, -Glen

Really beneficial video! I have been struggling with stepping on the rope quite a bit and am hopeful this will help! When is the training manual coming !?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 3 года назад
Glad you enjoyed this one, Shawn That is a common issue caused by a “wonky arc” (for lack of a better term), where the rope doesn’t move smoothly and consistently. Hope you’ve seen a level of improvement thus far, feel free to let me know how it’s going on that 👍🏽 The training handbook is oh-so close to release! It’ll be in both print and e-book form depending on what people prefer, and the latter at least will definitely be available later this month or February at the latest. To be transparent, one of the major reasons this project is so unique is that it features diagrams and drawings from a bunch of artists who follow Rope Rage. The fact that it’s not being put together in the traditional manner, where a book might have one illustrator, means it’s taking more time and care to complete (along with issues due to the current state of the world in general) but it’ll be worth the wait. This project is really going to be a condensed package of the work and skill knowledge picked up over the past few years, so I cannot wait to get it shared with everyone! 😎 Bit of a long essay there but just wanted to make sure I answered you thoroughly on that. Other than that, hope you’re doing well and wishing you a strong start to the new year 💪🏽 Talk soon, - Glen

hey mate, thanks for reaching out! Even though i know the techic and am trying to jump once per turn i can only achieve this when i am doing it as fast as i can. More specific when i am doing jumping rope slower i am doing one smaller second jump per turning. Do u know how can i do slower but still with one jump like i can do it when i go faster?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 3 года назад
good question! A good way to do this would be to start from your fast jumping and gradually bring it down - if you are trying to start jumping slower and you find that your footwork is different, it is better to start with your desired footwork and then adjust gradually. Hope that helps out, let me know how it goes for you 👍🏽 - Glen

very true - I should have included that in a little footnote here in the video 😄 Great to hear that, Shawn. The handbook has actually been in the process of writing for about 3 years, piece by piece. It'll comprise pretty much everything I have picked up in my experience training, good and bad, and will be a guidebook for the rope training journey. It's taken a bit of time because I want it to give an overwhelming amount of benefit to anyone who gets their hands on it, but it'll be worth the wait! Cheers, -Glen

I no im late to the party but why is that rush dude teaching thumbs facing forward? Does it depend on style or something?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 3 года назад
Hey Thaproblem, thanks for reaching out! Can’t say I’m sure what exact teaching you’re referring to but I have seen a lot of grips in my time, and some individuals feel they have a specific way of holding that suits them. What I can say is that holding the handle with my thumbs facing forward isn’t optimal, holding the rope that way feels quite awkward and restrictive. In the upcoming Rope Rage training handbook (which is almost finished! 😁), I address handle grips at length, but in a nutshell, doing such a thing would probably immobilize (or at least restrict mobility) of the wrist and make your rope rotations more heavily reliant on arm-movements instead of wrist-movements. You’d likely lose that snappy, controlled zip of the rope rotations that allows you to reach blazing speeds.Will be going into that more in future for sure 👍🏽 Other than that, how’s your training been going lately? Hope it’s progressing well 🚀 Cheers, -Glen

@@RopeRage I wanted to ask the same question. The advise that is mentioned is from 'Rush Atheltics'. It got me confused too. He says he slightly bends his elbows, uses thumbs forward and really pushing the rope down actively with your forearms (that's possible because of the increased tuck of the elbow). Your explanation makes total sense to me. By pointing the handles away, you keep the rope under that tension creating a nice arc. But as you just said, maybe the way Rush is skipping is personal preference. So...let's jump and find out. :) Making own experience, find your style. Your tip definitely helped me! Doesnt mean its working for everyone. :)

So much contradictory info between jumpers... Rush Athletics and Lauren Jumps both talk about keeping thumbs forward and flicking the rope forward rather than pointing the handles outwards
@RopeRage
@RopeRage Год назад
Great comment here. Firstly, I'll say that people jump with different styles. This Rope Rage style was developed through thousands of hours of experimentation and trial and error of different movements by myself. However, in this case I don't think there's anything different between what's in this video and what you've described there. You do rotate the rope handle forward, but you POINT it outwards. There's a key difference there 🔑 Remember, this video is about keeping a smooth arc in the rope, and pointing the rope outwards is the only way to do that. Scientifically. In other words, EVERY jumper who has a smooth rope arc is doing this. Bit of a detailed reply here, but does that make sense? Let me know, it's kinda difficult to describe in words. Cheers, - Glen

@@sammyread1 so dagadbm has been following this channel for a while and he knows I use the Rx rope a bit 😄 but this video is actually just a regular plastic rope I got from Amazon (you can see this at 3:57) - this rope is a much lower price point. I'll be using this rope a bit more when I'm at home because it's a bit more durable on the rough surface and I like to switch up my ropes all the time as I don’t want my skill level to become reliant on any one kind of rope. Would highly recommend you check out the video Speed Ropes vs. Regular Ropes on this channel as well - I talk in detail about why you shouldn't become reliant on any one rope. Bit of a long answer to your question here, but wanted this response to be as helpful as possible. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, -Glen

Rope Rage appreciate the in-depth reply...you’ve got some crazy skills dude. Skippings becoming my main workout again..finding it very therapeutic with all this madness. Do you do much resistant training or is majority of your working out jumprope? The way you skip definitely challenges your upper body more. I find when I’m doing things like double cross overs it almost feelings like I’m doing weighted pec fly’s...this is me a few years ago...im trying to learn all my tricks on my weak arm too now......ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--qFZG83zitw.html

@@sammyread1Cheers Sam, have been working on developing my craft for about 5 years and it’s a pleasure to be at a place where I can teach and share my insights with those willing to learn. Yeah, now is DEFINITELY a great time to really knuckle down on developing your skipping skills further. I do mix in some resistance training, would say my workout is about 70% rope training, 20% bodyweight resistance training, 10% weight lifting Also, it’s great that you’re focussing on your weaker side too - personally I think it is criminally overlooked by many, and it can result in a lack of balance executing techniques. Keep me updated on how you get on 😎 -Glen
