In this video, I show a drill that will help you improve your vertical and finishing all in one drill. The goal here is to practice exploding up in the lane and jump as high as you can off a drop step. If you push yourself, you will see first hand how tough this drill is. Also you can make this drill more difficult by implementing a medicine ball!

Pro Training Basketball This is a awesome drill definitely for big men in the paint who seriously need to work on their vertical leap. Great stuff, us shorter dudes can also challenge ourselves to at least doing the backboard slams. Thanks for working hard out there to bring us some useful drills we can actually benefit from. Could you guys do breakdown video of 1 foot jump technique with some crazy 1 foot jumper? Like what's the best arm swing, how to pull other (non jumping) leg, what to do with toes, how long steps are best, how to engage core and so on.. Would appreciate it.

Vijay Rathore | I would suggest doing this drill, but instead of dunking just finishing as high as you can.

+Djhuard anyhting above 24 inches is solid, but at 4' 10 should aim for a 30 inch vertical to make up for the height difference.

i did squats for a few months but i stopped because i came home late from school (and afterschool classes) a lot and i still had homework to do and it helped by almost an inch. I tested by trying to jump to the 8 ft (i think) court at school and i went from only touching the next to being able to touch the rim. edit: i did it for like 1-2 months i think

About to turn 14 (in 2 months) I’m exactly 5,6 and I’m like 3-5 inches off from touching the rim and I’m wondering how long does it take to see improvement

When your shooting, do a fake and when the defensive player jumps before you, you jump into him and make the shot that's a 3 point play because it's 2 point and 1 do to the foul.

Dheeraj Choudhary not necessarily it will give you more steength in your legs and that could help but use ankle weights and just practice lying on the floor jumping up as high as you can and reapeating this helped me just some advice

Can you do video how to dunk a basketball cause i can touch the rim with my wrist but i cant put the ball in.Also i can palm almost every basketball,but i cant just dunk the ball in.I am 6'0 (182cm)14 years old

+Akinlade Oluwaseyi This depends on each individual. A ten pound (4.5 kg) medicine ball is a good level for everyone, but for stronger more athletic players should look to use a 15 pounds (6.8kg). It doesnt seem like a lot, but it will get tough and it is meant to be an explosive exercise

I'm 12 years old and in between 5'10 and 5'11 an I've been practicing a little bit to improve my vertical jump i can't touch the rim or dunk yet cuz of my lack of practicing my vertical leap but I'm starting to practice it more and more if I can get any tips or advice I'd appreciate it cuz people have told me wit my size I'd be good in the paint cuz i continue to grow and may grow ver tall eventually especially for my young age so I'm really looking to dunk ad stuff

+Manny Torres the best thing for you to do is stretch and help your muscles keep pace with your growth. If you hit a growth spurt in the next year or two the stretching will help avoid some muscle spasm and problems with that. Once you slow down from growing is when I would suggest focusing on your vertical. This drill is still a drill any player can do no matter the circumstances though.

Yes. You don't need to dunk. As long as you are jumping as high as you can you will benefit from this drill. You can also try the backboard slams too.

Yes that is pretty impressive. I wouldn't be satisfied if I were you. This is the time players make the most improvement in their game so keep working hard to get better!

Excellent Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Schallingora Increase Capability Scheme (google it)?
