I have four Hollywood Junipers about 23’ high being choked by Texas Privets. Slowly I climb ladders and trim dead branches and cut back the privets. Someday I will see the entire tree to style but I can use help Peter. Woodland California.

Hello from the states! I am relatively new to bonsai and a relatively new subscriber. I enjoy watching your videos. They are informative and you seemingly have a different approach or style compared to some other artists I’ve seen on RU-vid. You have been in bonsai since the 70s ? That was back when I still had my baby teeth lol you are what we refer here in the states as an O.G. Keep up the good work. I like to see people living there dream.👍🏻🤗

Love this one! I've watched dozens of your videos now, but this is my first time commenting, because I just potted a couple Western Redcedars that were growing in my yard, and I was having trouble finding examples of thuja bonsai. I really enjoyed watching you work on this one and wanted to say thank you for all the help you've given me as I've started learning bonsai over the past year.

Very nice example of something that looked impossible but it was not. Came out very nice. If you have any boxwood bushes I would love to see a presentation on turning a boxwood shrub into a bonsai. Thanks for all your great videos.

Peter, I like your choice of a "front" when you worked with the second tree in this video. The trunk leaning to the right does have a better potential as the front view.

When you were questioning what to do with that Thuja in the field I was already thinking it has to be a bunjin. It was not one of those trees that presents the possibility of multiple styles. What are your thoughts on leaving that jin up higher than the apex of the tree Peter? Do you think it competes with it and should be shortened during refinement or do you think it is OK to just consider the jin the "apex"?

twenty pound monofilament fishing line is great for using as a guy wire on bonsai, relatively invisible, easy to work with, and cheap.

I honestly think that before this channel, most ordinary people thought that only certain trees could be used for bonsai .... usually rather expensive! Peter has , in my opinion, shown that you can make practically anything into bonsai!! Never prejudge a tree until you have stuck a bag on it !! 😀😀😀

Absolutely! He also breaks the stereotype you can hear sometimes which is that bonsai is very expensive and difficult hobby and only trained professional is able to do that. And that is, at least I think, quite the opposite of reality.
