My review of In A Violent Nature (2024) a new slasher film told mostly from the perspective of the killer... but s it nothing more than a Friday The 13th ripoff? Let's Discuss!

I agree I don't care about the other characters but I felt they could have developed Johnny a bit more. The bit with the necklace in the mirror and the toy car bit were good but it could have used more flashbacks or some other subtleties The ending is my real complaint 7/10

Give us new horror franchises and icons! Stop ruining Halloween, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Chucky, Texas Chainsaw, etc. especially Scream! Because I have no faith in the Scream franchise anymore under Spyglass. They just announced a new tv series and a spin off movie. If the spin off was a Stab movie then maybe I would be interested. But Scream “7” being still in the same continuity that keeps “5” and “6” canon not allowing David Arquette to return and also for some reason having a time jump has me concerned and not interested. And a tv series IDK how I feel because any anthology films or tv series from Spyglass the same people made Scream “5” and “6” which were terrible honestly I’m not faithful in. Scream’s last good film imo was Scream 4. Honestly, just end the franchise. Ghostface and Sidney Prescott deserve better than this unnecessary milking of a franchise further. And do we really need another Ghostface having another vendetta against Sidney?! It’s been done to death. And also Gale has become a terrible character and disrespected Dewey by profiting off his death and also got god tier plot armor and thus a Mary Sue! Yeah, Scream ended in 2011 and only has 4 films.

A movie like this, even though it does feel familiar to Friday movies, is a step in the right direction... atleast they tried something new
@ParkerCS2
@ParkerCS2 2 месяца назад
@@REELSHIFT exactly. And Thanksgiving was a better Scream movie than Scream “5” and “6”, and Terrifier 2 is a better Halloween film than the recent David Gordan Green trilogy.

I feel like the trailer made this look like a throwback slasher film, but its more of an ASMR walking in the woods video with the occasional victim. I think it was a novel idea to follow the killer like this, but it became painfully obvious why its not the standard. I did like idea of seeing the campers discuss the "legend" of the killer while the killer just stood there listening. Its funny when you think about it because it happens in so many horror movies, but the audience is always with the campers instead. The yoga kill was cool, though goes against the killers reason for his rampage, which happens in horror movies often. The shed kill was so slow and loud. Do we really need to hear a gas engine for long. Maybe its just me, but I don't understand what's so interesting about the ending? Aside from the random monologue about someones brother that had no point.

I'm glad you liked it man but the fucking SUPERNATURAL levels of stupidity from the characters left me so mad I ended up just scrolling through Facebook until the end haha. Overall it was a cool concept but I would rather watch a Friday movie any day of the week (pun slightly intended haha)

@@REELSHIFT plus lately when I think of gruesome gore from the Terrifier films or sometimes from films like Hellraiser it makes me feel sometimes nauseous. I can handle gore, but really over done gore makes me barf in my brain. I’m not a gore hound.

@@REELSHIFT “Gore for the sake of gore” is a perfect way to describe the Terrifier movies. They come off as being a bit too tryhard and edgelord to me. Everybody was raving about Allie’s death in part 2. I felt it was just too over the top. It was just several minutes of Art mutilating a girl in a bunch of different ways, simply for shock value. It was like: “Okay, let’s slash her eye. Know let’s cut off her scalp with a pair of scissors. What can we do next? Oh, I know, let’s slice and stab her back several times. Know let’s split her hand in half and rip her arm off at the elbow. What else can we possibly do? Oh! I got it! Let’s pore a bunch of salt and bleach on her! Omg, that’s so edgy!” Some of the gore effects also looked really rubbery and fake imo. I also didn’t care for the acting. I felt that the actress just wasn’t really selling her performance, given what was being done to her character. She should’ve been screaming and crying way louder. And there’s no way she should’ve stayed alive through all of that. Aurora’s death from “A Violent Nature” was much better. It was far more inventive and the practical effects looked awesome. Sorry for the rant😆
