Thank you for this. I just 'discovered' Moosonee by accident, while researching the Ontario Northland Railway. I'm a BIG train lover and photographer. I am also, at heart, someone who is drawn to the great quiet places - the peace and tranquility of the wilderness. I hope to see Moosonee one day, perhaps by train.
l was up there last sept 2022 and so glad l went, but Covid really hurt there tourism and forced a lot of business to close and they need to rebound. It is a wonderful part of Ontario
Hello, I grew up in Moose Factory. Just wanted to let you know, I have never seen a seal there, ever. I'm certain you'd have to travel further north along one of the coasts of James Bay; even then I'm not sure where seals live or where they frequent. That being said, beluga whales have been known to venture far south as the Moose River, in which Moose Factory Island is situated. I hope you visit Moosonee and MF Island. It's a great experience if you love the rugged outdoors. The Polar Bear Express train service between Cochrane Ontario and Moosonee has a wonderful summer excursion. Cheers!
