That's how her comedy has always been. If you watch any of her standup specials they are hilarious, but also always have some sort of serious and often emotional points to them. It's really quite impressive how she can balance both so well and no matter how off topic she seems to get it all serves a greater narrative purpose in the end.
1. to live your life with integrity 2. not to give in to peer pressure to be something that you're not 3. to live your life as an honest and compassionate person 4. to contribute in someway 5. follow your passion 6. never follow someone else path 7. be true to yourself 8. show people your brain 9. you're gonna be okay

Amazing, so many great quotes hahah! "Most of the books in the house are portia’s and they’re all written in Australian". "I didn’t go to college! Any college! and i'm not saying you're wasting your time or money but look at me! I'm a huge celebrity!!" "When i grow up i wanna be famous, i wanna be a star, i wanna be in movies, when i grow up...." "If you don’t remember a thing I said today, remember this, you’re gonna be ok, dadadodoom, Just Dance(8)!"
Dear Ellen, Thank you. Thank You just for being on this planet. You perhaps don't know your impact on me as well as the lives of millions of children out there. You are the most important, inspiring person in my life. There comes a point in everyone's life when they feel that all is lost, that this is the end and that they cannot do anything to change that. And at that point, there also comes a person who, knowingly or unknowingly, inspires and makes him/her believe in himself/herself and gives hope that today is not the end, that tomorrow will be better. You are that person Ellen. And thanks for being here and helping us recover from our trauma. In case you ever read this, please know that you are my Idol, you are the kind of person I would like to become. Thank you.
The speech includes so many stylistic devices, but I couldn't pay attention to them, because it was just too inspirational and sad but also unbelievably funny and... best speech I ever heard.

Amazing and inspirational political, business, or academic figures are one thing, but having Ellen as your common cement speaker is clearly the pinnacle of success.
