Not only is she funny, clever, quirky, she's a strong and smart woman who has and will contribute a lot. I'm really glad she got fired from Fraiser. No one else could have been Phoebe, that part was waiting for her to arrive. And boy, did she.
It's not sad, and Phoebes not dumb at all, she's sweet and hilarious, and I think its wonderful that someone with so much intelligence as Lisa Kudrow also has so much talent, and stepped out of her comfort zone to be part of something as amazing as friends. (:
I've seen this clip close to 10 times, and it never ceases to inspire me. Whenever I feel school is too much or I've vhosen the wrong path, I watch Lisa and my faith is restored.
I would like to say something about Lisa and her Father. Her was a doctor and specialized in what is called "cluster headaches", which are horrible. I know this because my brother has them and he went to Lisa's father and he helped him where no other doctor ever did. And know this Lisa's Father also had these headaches. I thank you Lisa and your father for the help given my brother.

Lisa kept it simple so that kids could listen, not miss anything and think about their own lives at the same time. I bet that's what she intended. If I'm wrong I'll bet Lisa would hesitate for exactly the right amount of time and reply "That's right" with her special smile. Love her.
She's not jst funny she's not just an outstanding actress but an amazing person who has her own story to tell..and it's so bloody inspiring to get to know the story and the struggle she had to go through it's..damn inspiring and it needs courage to stick to ur belief..always ...she's really great..!love her ♥️♥️♥️
Phoebe buffay was "dumb" in certain ways, but in many episodes she had a solution where the other characters didn't see it. her mind emphasised different things to be intelligent about. I would be honoured to be counted among her friends. Also, many people play "dumb". either to be funny, or to spring intelligence onto people where it's least expected. it's a good way of sorted people into the category of respect-for-intelligence vs respect-for-everyone.
It's so refreshing to know that Lisa is sometimes nervous/awkward (as she was during this commencement speech) just like the rest of us. What a great video. Thanks for sharing.
I cant believe i watched all of that. She is quite the remarkable woman! I loved Friends when it was running and I still watch reruns of it. Lisa Kudrow you are a breath of fresh air. Glad to know celebs are just like us: nervous and corky!
To me Lisa Kudrow's words were like magic, allthough she spoke so long never was there a moment ,when one would doubt her honesty,and transparency in unfolding her thoughts. Lisa you are beautiful in heart and mind.. 2 THUMBS UP. RUSTOM S WADIA.
this speech was so inspiring...it shows you that when we begin life we musn't put our career in a box...or just see ourselves as having just one kind of talent or having just one particular direction to go in our path...we are complex beings with so much we can accomplish in this life. yep you're right. I think her character added a bit of mystery and edge to the show because quite often she tell of a story from when she "lived on the streets" and it gave the character more than just comedic/"blonde moments". I don't think anyone else could have did it like her.
It is one big lesson. Life never goes the way you plan it. Life never is easy. Life is never what you expect it to be. Take what it throws at you, like she did. And you can get very far. How did you not get the lesson from her story?
Awesome speech! Very motivating. Encourages me to never give up and to know that when I do good work, but something doesn't work out... I can still be proud of the work I've done.
Listen to that inner voice...as long as it doesn't lead to a crime. One's self is one of the biggest hurdles to get over. Over time, through your work, you will demonstrate what you bring to the field. Make friends with a talented person in your field (Conan O'Brien in Lisa's case). You will face challenges. You will face self-doubt and the doubt of others. Trust the talented people who believe in you. Then, through luck, pluck or fate, you realize that you are "on." Go for it!
This popped up on the home page of RU-vid, and I decided to watch it on a whim (figuring that I would probably stop watching half way through). I ended up sitting through the entire thing. It's a really decent speech, and as an aspiring actor it served as inspirational. So yea, in case you wanted to hear my opinion :-P
Although I am very fond of Lisa Kudrow, my true sweetheart is Helen Hunt! Lisa goes up a lot of notches in my book for mentioning Helen in her speech! Nice going Lisa!
1 minute ago i'm a really huge fan of her! i don't love her because i love friends and i admire her acting, i love her because she's her. she's not one of those hollywood actors who are arrogant and impolite. she's helpful and very kind. i wish i would live in LA or at least in the usa but i live in europe and i there isn't a big chance of meeting her someday .. but at least i can write here that i totally admire her and that she is my role model.
