I was still in my 30s on my job when the verdict was read. We few Blacks in the office were very excited but most of the white people were very quiet the remainder of the day. I thought I heard recently that when O.J. was at the police station they made him strip off his clothes and "searched" his body finding no blood on his body nor hair. He had a small cut on his finger. I'm now in my 60s and have found it interesting how white people filter those days. Condolences to his children/family.

I remember playing college football back in 1994. And that fall of 1994 we played against USC at the Colosseum, and during the 4th quarter they brought out Al Cowlings to the 50 yard line with some of the other USC greats, and you could hear a damn pin drop in that stadium! Even my coaches stopped coaching and turned their heads to look on the field! S**t was crazy!

I’ve had a feeling that something was seriously wrong with Black America, especially with the number of U.S. behind 45. I couldn’t understand how so many of us were complacent with white supremacy and I wondered if that portion of us had lost their sense of identity and spirit of defiance. I couldn’t find the words to describe my feelings but your program has found those words for me, especially today’s show. Thank you!

Thousands of Black men die of prostate cancer every year. Decide to die of something else. Black men should get a PSA test starting at age 45. The earlier it is diagnosed the better your chances of survival. Why suffer in your final years when you don't have to. Be there for your family and your community. Just this year, Dexter King, Joe Madison, O.J. Simpson and thousands of other Black men died from this disease.

Thank you, Prof. Hunter and Dr. Carr, for all the memories that you continue to share!! The case against OJ Simpson was indeed a turning point. It was a reminder that our reality as a new generation of Blacks is no matter how much one cloaks himself in yteness in 'Uncle Sam's Land', you're not like them if you don't LOOK like them!! My deepest condolences to the Simpson family and their loved ones on his transition. OJ was one of us. And, we've always embraced ours, no matter what. In my family, we're STILL embracing OJ because we KNOW more than others, how unjust the system is against ours. Therefore, our understanding (eye and heart) see differently than others. Meanwhile, your review of this case shows that we haven't grown that much as a nation and confirms the saying, "the more things change, the more they remain the same." Btw, Nancy Grace is one of those who became 'famous' off of OJ. Stay blessed y'all, and thank you for E.214 of ICWC!! 🙏🏾🖤💯

This was a wonderful conversation, as always. Glad you mentioned the book AMERICAN TRAGEDY. It is an amazing account of the court case and strategy for the trial. I actually played OJ Simpson in the mini series from that book. Lawrence Schiller actually directed it. Ving Rhames played John nie Cochran. The great actor and playwriting Rueben Santiago-Hudson played Chris Darden.

Thank you Professor Hunter & Dr. Carr.❤ The one thing I remember about O.J Simpson trial is Los Angeles Police decided they would not be security for OJ "s defense Attorneys. So, the NATION OF ISLAM stepped in to protect all those defense Attorneys. That is how voitile this trial played out. RIP OJ SIMPSON❤ I met him at a USA SUMMER sports program for poor kids. I was about 12 or 13 yrs old. He was still a student and already famous and was charming to all of us.

Connected to his cousin since the early 70's that loves him dearly. A week ago benefited A big Hug from one of OJ's relatives. To cover the pain of losing him they just mention " he's battling the poison." The creator Rests his SOUL! I have know his spirit to be one of Naivete because he kept interacting seemingly with the deceptive... Someone or THING was always trying to trash him. Seemed like white women always.

Cautionary tale particularly for high achieving Black men who seem to think they have ascended past the trauma of white supremacist thought and practice, and for Black women as well who think they are striking a blow for freedom by excusing the bad acts of certain Black men. Nothing really to do wwith OJ; everything to do with the Culture. The man is the perfect example of a tragic figure. I am brave enough to say I never believed the defense; I knew the ugly wiles of LAPD; I understood the brilliance of Johnnie Cochran and all that. Carry on. May he rest in peace.

Also, recall this trial followed the LAPD's brutal treatment of Rodney King! Broke my heart! Later, I would have the honor of meeting Mr. Johnnie Cochran, Esq. at Howard University School of Law as he addressed our Class of 2000.
