The lyrics hit me harder than it should. `When we were young , was this the dream we had? We are celebrating nothing, we need to find our way back`. I'm 34 and In Flames defined my best and worst years since high school. I didn't know you'd become more and more retrospective in 30s. I keep going back to my highs and lows and keep making comparisons between past and now. Anders writes great lyrics and I got `Collect Some Stars to Shine For You` from the song Trigger tattooed on my chest but these lyrics hit me the hardest.
The build up from 2:23 to 2:53 is just sick! The way they put more vocals and instruments as that part progress is just so Amazing! (Sorry for my bad English!)
tried to decipher the lyrics as best as i can. (1st verse) OOOOOOH!!! I GOT A NEW KIND OF FEAR! SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANT TO VIEW! THERE'S THIS PATH THAT I CAN'T SEE THAT LEADS STRAIGHT TO MISERY! WE CANT UNDO WHAT WE HAVE DONE! JUST FACE WHATS UP AHEAD! WE FIGHT! AND WE STUMBLE! THE FUSE IS LIT! YOU BETTER RUN, NOW! (Bridge) I can't tell you what to do. This crossroad is your own. But I know what will become THE OUTLAWS ON THE RUN! (Chorus) Do you think about the end? The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space. Do you think about the end? (As your last breath??? now fades) The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space. (2nd Verse) WHAT IF I FEED TO YOU, "lets leave this earth for a while" A PERSPECTIVE FROM THE HOLLOW AND A WHEEL WE CANT CONTROL! I can't tell you what to do. This crossroad is your own. But I know what will become WE ARE THE OUTLAWS ON THE RUN!!! Do you think about the end? The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space. Do you think about the end? (As your last breath now fades) The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space. And the emptiness in space... And the emptiness in space... When we were young. Was this the dream we had? We're celebrating nothing. We need to find our way back. (Guitar solo) I can't tell you what to do. This crossroad is your own. But I know what will become WE ARE THE OUTLAWS ON THE RUN!!!!!! Do you think about the end? The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space. Do you think about the end? (As your last breath now fades) The words you say, with your last breath. And the emptiness in space.
Knotfest Japan 2016.11.06 , i saw that in live and i can say without the chorus and on live it Was feeling like a earthquake around Tokyo ... definitly kicking ass In Flames is back !! cuz emptiness is space !
even "the truth" was awesome (first time i listen and with child chorus i don't like) but in Live ... men it's sometihing !! Thank you in Flames ... i will trust you more !!
I don't understand some of you people In Flames could give you a plate ago and you'd say it was terrible. If you don't like them or you don't like this track don't listen. It's as simple as that. I think this song is absolutely brilliant just like everything else they've done. I love it and am grateful for the music throughout the years. IN FLAMES WE TRUST!!!
I love it. Lots of the "Classic" In Flames sound. The screams like those in, for example, Take This Life, together with clear vocals that resemble the recent albums, especially Siren Charms more closely... I missed the IF "sound" in Siren Charms quite a bit. This is very promising to me. Guys, if you do a tour after you release this album, PLEASE visit Eindhoven again! After we go crazy at the concert, you should come into town with us :D
I have been watching the in flames evolution since 2004. When you see people complaining about the modern in flames albums, its not just guys saying they don't like the new shit because of clean vocals or whatever. The original In Flames music was life-changing and there was nothing quite like it. I can still remember all the lyrics and (poorly) play their songs on guitar for their first 4 albums. They had a cult following. Watching them change into what they are now is painful, but only because of how great they were.
Thank you In Flames, for being a ever-developing band since I started listening your material back in '99. I learnt so much from your music, and working with you at festivals and your careers, as a musician. Good luck with the new album and kudos on the extremely catchy new material. Best wishes!
The beginning minute or so is the only part that feels like old In Flames to me. The rest sounds like a cross between Sounds, A Sense of Purpose, and Siren Farts.
I like it. Plus, after listening to it for a while, I'm not depressed or vexed, if that's even the word I'm thinking of. Positive vibes and doesn't negatively effect my mood.
This song makes me excited for this album. Heavy with a grand sense of melody. I love the children's choir chanting those lyrics. Really makes me think about my life. When we were young Was this the dream we had? We are celebrating nothing We need to find our way back
Lyrics: I've got a new kind of fear Something you dont want to view This is best i can seal It's way to misery We can't undo what we have done Just face what's open We fight, we stumble The fuse is lit, you better run now I can't tell you what to do This crossword is our own But I know what we'll become The outcast on the run Do you think about the end? The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space Do you think about the end? That's our last breath now The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space What if i say to you Let sleep distort for a while A perspective from the hollow And will we can't control I can't tell you what to do This crossword is our own But I know what we'll become The outcast on the run Do you think about the end? The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space Do you think about the end? That's our last breath now The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space (3x) When we were young Was this the dream we had? We are celebrating nothing We need to find our way back I can't tell you what to do This crossword is our own But I know what we'll become The outcast on the run Do you think about the end? The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space Do you think about the end? That's our last breath now The worst you say we're on last breath And the emptiness in space
Love the cover art, reminds me of a sculpture I made about crawl through knives. That verse,"it's in my hands the sky so bright it's hurting me" just rang to me for months till i made the damn thing out of clay.
Though my favourite in flames albums were the old ones, i still liked sense of a purpose(i don't hate the new ones either, since i never really listened to them), so this does sound pretty good actually.
Steven Keller i have heard some songs from Soapf which were pretty catchy, so i probably should give them a try. The singles from Siren charms didn't really do much for me so i never ended up listening to the rest.
listen to it 2 or 3 times and be open minded. And if u dont like it then its good. I didnt like it aswell when it came out but i gave it a try and now its one of my favorite albums. ^^
Damn, if you haven't listened to SOAPF means you never heared "A New Dawn". Really, even people who don't like their new sound should admit that this song is beyond amazing!
I will never hear the end of how many times I have listened to this song while imagining reality is like "structured" in some mysteriously beneficial way.
Born in 81, I practically grew up with In Flames. Colony, Whoracle,.. they all played through my walkman whilst driving my Peugeot Vogue towards my gf at the time somewhere in Flanders. Seen them live in Antwerp when Reroute to Remain came out, in Cologne with Sonic Syndicate, Graspop, Wacken etc. There will never be another December Flower nor another Jester Race or whatever, but there's beauty in that too, no wait, there isn't. But there is still plenty of melancholy left in these songs, so In Flames I still Trust \m/
Been listening In Flames for many many years.Didnt enjoy the final albums so gave a break for a few years.Today I opened this...Wow. And I believed they couldnt get worse.
Better than Siren Charms but it still leans too much towards "A Sense of Purpose" sound. I guess I'll keep sticking with Colony, Clayman and Jester Race.
Almost, I find ASOP a bit more fast paced than this but sound-wise its very similar. Honestly I wouldn't mind another album of that type, ASOP was really good IMO.
yeah I have to agree with you. Actually ASOP has been my first IF album so I can't complain If they sound like this one. This album still remains as one of the best IF to me
+Unguided Reaper I think that's a brilliant song as well mate. I don't turn on a band ever. When I find myself putting the song on repeat, I know I've got myself a winner. My favourite In Flames song to date probably remains as Man Made God.
Haven't heard anything from IF in a while. I listened to Siren Charms for like a month after it's released and that was it. I liked it, not as much as a have like other IF album in the past, tho. Now, almost a couple of years later I got to say, it's good and refreshing to have you back.
HEY HEY HEY, EVERYONE SHUT UP AND READ THIS FOR ONE SEC, ok so alot of you are bitching about how their not the same band that did clayman or albums as such, you guys need to understand bands evolve and move on and gain new talents and strengths. As a song writer myself i can tell you writing the same music style over and over gets boring. if you dont like their new sound then just listen to their old stuff and stop bitching INFLAMES WE TRUST!
still sucks tho. they could at least use some proper sound. but this is crap. listen to the solo man, what were they thinking??? couldnt be any worse. they just dont give a fuck anymore. the only fuck given here was like "hey, this isnt bad enough, lets ad a choir"
Man, Anders is headed toward a dark place. You can hear it in his lyrics. I can only imagine that he's wearing out after 23 years of throwing all of his energy into In Flames, and I'm sure he's been battling with himself his whole life while trying to make ends meet in an industry that takes a lot out of you. Many musicians, especially in the metal scene, live in constant struggle with their minds, many of them doing the music thing because it keeps them sane. Props to Anders and Bjorn for sticking through everything they've been through, for over 23 years... crazy motherfuckers. I don't doubt that there have been many battles.
More than 500 0000 views. This band is truly unique .They still makes curiosity of bothers (haters and lovers )the haters after Clayman but will not like but people who like the changed of this guys will like this I hope so this song have melodie, riffs, and a modern sound to apreciate
When Anders sings '' When we were young, was this the dream we had ? We celebreting nothing we need to find our way back'' I wonder that they wanted fame, but needed give up of the classic style and the real fans, and celebrate this today, just don't meant anything, and now they are lost in finding the way back to the classic time, or at least get mix style that consecrated them with the style that they play today and with the current fans. For me the band just need to play all together, the classic songs, December Flower,Moonshield,The Jester Race,, Jotun, Food for the Gods,Ordinary Story, Colony, Bullet Ride, Only for the Weak, Square Nothing, Trigger etc... Doing this and composing all together I have sure that they will gave us amazing albuns and songs again (Sorry for my bad English guys)
Posers be like "it's not hard enough QQ!" "It's too metalcore!" "Clean singing EW!" Real music fans are loving this track. Make the music you want to make, make shit that means something. In Flames we trust \m/
I don't get the "real fan" stuff. I started listening with Reroute to Remain, and even by then people were saying it was garbage and in flames lost their way. People are weird about stuff. I won't deny their first few albums are amazing and I'd prefer to listen to them, but there's nothing at all wrong with the new stuff, or liking the new stuff.
Good metalcore is miles ahead of this crap. BTW there's no such thing as "real fans". If real fans like everything a band does, then the only real Metallica fans love St. Anger! Get your head out of your ass and stop fabricating excuses that the real adults aren't using to explain why they don't like this.
