Hello there! Speaking of travelling... all of my uploads since May were pre-filmed before I left Australia for my big trip. I've now reached the end of that content so I'll be swapping to travel videos for a little while, and you'll get to see what I've been up to! ✈️ Beauty lovers, please stay tuned - SO so much exciting content coming soon, so I hope you'll stick around! Thank you x
Hey sorry but I do recommend using your products before you fly because when you remove moisturiser or cleanse your skin you are exposing your skin to more dry air and using products after being exposed to the extremely dry air can worsen your skin. I've seen quite a few videos of another yt channel called mixed makeup and she continually explains not to use products in the air. Of course it's up to you but just thought you should let you know
You always seem to be conscious about cosmetics hygiene so delighted to hear tips from you. Also I was very happy to see that you uploaded 1 hour early this week, I think that’s because my country doesn’t apply winter time system 😄😊
The Evian spray comes in a aerosol can. For some reason I was under the impression that we weren’t allowed to fly with aerosol and I always packed alternative products.
Aha! Drunk Elephant just landed in the UK, and I immediately purchased their ‘Littles’ travel size kit. I’ve been using them for four days now, and my skin looks AH-MAY-ZING. I am seriously impressed. And they’re perfect for travel, I’m away this weekend and the little pink zipper bag full of tiny, colourful pump bottles are making me (and my newly glowing skin) very happy ;) 🐘 🇬🇧 🙏🏻
Can't wait to try their products! They've been available in Australia for a while so it's been fun to watch the hype in the UK. I bought their Littles set a while ago but haven't tried it yet! 👍 x
Audrey - yes, let’s see how they work over time and whether the long term results are there! I think the VitC Serum and LaLa cream are the things delivering the instant glory for now though ;)
One day during a flight from Paris to LA, I put a sheet mask on my face ... the guy next to me was starring at me like I was coming from Mars hahaha epic !
The Nyx High Definition blush in Double Dare is such a good orange eyeshadow. It’s so pigmented and with fingers probably not that creamy but with a brush it goes on so well. It’s like a shade lighter and brighter version of Persia by Nars.
I spent my childhood and teen years jetting off to all sorts of places, and only in my early twenties do I seem to learn that in-flight skincare routines are a thing! Really cool video, Matilda. Also like the fact that you included some hints and teasers on Insta x
Thank you Elise! Same here, I've been on long flights since I was a baby but only really started using products mid-flight in the last five years or so. The routine doesn't need to be complicated though, even just applying moisturiser will do the trick to help skin stay hydrated on board! 👍 x
As a mum of twin toddlers I don't get to go anywhere lol! But I still appreciate a mini anything when it comes to beauty! Look forward to hearing of the products you've picked up along your travels. Xx
Thank you so much Amanda, appreciate that even more if you're not a traveller! ☺️ Hope you'll enjoy the content I have coming up, taking you around the world with me x
Sorry, it came in a travel set with a skincare brand that doesn't exist anymore! I used up the product a long time ago then cleaned and kept the bottle just in case I could re-purpose it like this 👍 x
Here’s a quick fun fact: doing skincare WHILE in the flight will actually not be effective, says many dermatologists everyone’s hopping into bandwagon because korean idols are doing it, but doing a pre-flight skincare routine is the way to go If you do skincare while on flight, it will already be too late, the plane environment will dry out your skin no matter what you do But hey! Whatever floats your boat :D
LOVE! I do the same... no makeup just plenty of moisturizer... but I do add small nail file (a nail always breaks), tissues and eye drops =) Depending if someone is picking me up, I dab some ByTerry Rose Balm (Cherry Pop) on lips and cheeks!
Thank you! I experimented with a couple of The Ordinary products for a while without good results, but I love Mario Badescu's facial sprays and drying lotion 👍 x
It's not essential! And doesn't even need to have as many steps or options as this. But even if you just take some moisturiser and apply it mid-flight, I'm sure your skin will thank you when you land ☺️ x
I know you said that prefer light make up(non existent) in my book. But have you tried cushion foundation their? Like tinted moisturizer plus sunscreen. The lighter coverage one anyway.
I feel u so hard when u said Australia is so isolated, those annoying but inevitable 10 hours flights are really killing u. Can u do a video on how to survive long haul flight pls?
Sorry Tiana, I don't really have any tips! I just like to get lost in the in-flight entertainment then sleep for most of it 😂 But noise-cancelling headphones are seriously lifesavers to help you zone out and get some peace and quiet x
Hi Matilda! I hardly ever comment but I needed to tell you that I love your videos.I stumbled upon your video about lip balms.product pile to be precise.I explored your channel.I think you had around 60k followers and I was just blown away by your unique style! the fact that u never show your face is really refreshing and a bit challenging too I feel.but you show swatches and the texture on your hand.I love love love stop motion aart that u do.frankly I am in india so i do not get the products you mentioned here.but i love hearing you say "hello there" in the exact same way every time! i am passionate about skincare so I love when u post them! It is a joy watching your videos almost relaxing, lovely to see your creativity and hard work recognised and appreciated.More power to you Matilda. PS i am so excited for your current travel videos! enjoyed the earlier ones thoroughly!
your videos are so relaxing to watch. what do you apply on your skin when you step out of your home to airport since you are doing the skincare routine in flight? I also want to start and I am flying next month
Flight attendant with psoriasis here! Drink loads of water, it's the first step to being hydrated. Eat fresh fruit if you can and avoid alcohol, caffeine and sugar-loaded foods. Make sure to hydrate the skin really well in the hours leading up to the flight and use products that lock the moisture in as opposed to just moisturising. During the flight, I suggest you eat first, brush your teeth and wash your face with a light cleanser before applying your heavy-duty moisturiser. Don't forget lip balm and a good hand cream! When you finally get to the hotel or wherever you're staying, take a bath or shower and use your favourite lotion to restore your skin's moisture. If you use medicated lotions/balms like me, make sure to decant the amount you need for the flight into a small container to take on your carry-on luggage and don't skip it!
Sounds exactly like what I do Mariana! Great to hear from a flight attendant 👏 I drink so much water during a flight and never have any alcohol. On long trips I always like to watch and movie and eat first, then sleep with a nice hydrating mask or moisturiser on. Lip balm and hand cream is reapplied many times! My favourite part is feeling revived and fresh after a shower as soon as I land x
Your videos are so soothing! Question about the clear bag, have you ever been asked by TSA to put it into one of the bags provided at the airport? I'm always scared I'm going to be asked to throw some items away because the clear bag shown looks bigger than the little baggie :(
Thank you so much! Luckily I haven't had any trouble with this bag, but it probably depends what mood security are in that day 😂 The limit isn't to do with the size of the bag the products are in though - you're only allowed 10x 100ml bottles (a half-full 200ml bottle will be thrown out for example) x
Hi Matilda! I was wondering where the serum bottle for the go-to face hero was from? I recently purchased face hero and have a few upcoming holiday flights I’d love to bring it with me on! I checked muji’s website but I didn’t see it there. Thank you!!
Unfortunately it was from another brand that doesn't exist anymore Sam! 😬 I used up the product, washed out the bottle and kept it in case it came in handy for travel x
Ahhh I love in-flight skincare! So excited to see this! I'm a fan of sleeping masks on plane trips, I would clean my face with a pre-toner-soaked cotton pad, then spf (spf is especially important!), then apply a generous layer of a sleeping mask (invisible and nourishing). After landing (or 20 mins before landing), I'll wipe it off with another pre-soaked cotton pad, and apply some moisturizer and light makeup!
Haha glad it works for you! I'd definitely suggest applying some hydrating products first (serum, moisturiser) because Vaseline isn't hydrating in itself, it just acts as a barrier to help lock moisture in.. so a flight is actually a pretty good place to use it! 👍 x
about the bit where you say you already use a clear plastic bag so u dnt have to put it in a ziplock bag they give you, for me when ive gone to gatwick and heathrow airports they STILL make me take it out and put it in their ziplocks! its crazy
Ohh interesting! I've used this exact clear zip up bag at both Gatwick and Heathrow and haven't had an issue. I honestly think it depends who's working that day and what mood they're in 😂 x
Matilda in the past few yrs ive only flown twice a yr but im not a huge traveler, they were all america flights and not once did they allow me :( so stupid
Finally! you and I are skincare soul buddy! Lol my friends always find me weird whenever we go on holidays for bringing my skincare and makeup in flight. ( They are minis of coourse) I mean who would like to look haggard when your on a holiday? P.S I am also quite the germaphone inflight I bring my own dettol wipes and wipe down my seats and tray tablets, bring hand gels and use facemask while in flight.
As you are a travel and beauty lover and seem to have a very similar approach to makeup and skincare I thought I'd ask if you had any must buys from Paris? I'm about to head there for ten days and hoping to pick up some goodies we can't get back home in Aus. xx
Hope you have a lovely time Elyce! It's one of my favourite cities ❤️ Sephora on the Champs-Élysées is enormous, Oh My Cream are a series of cute clean boutiques, and City Pharma is my favourite French pharmacy to stock up on brands like Bioderma, La Roche Posay, Avene, Klorane etc. I'll have more French pharmacy content coming in the new year so I can point people to one video for questions like this in future! In terms of other suggestions, I love Place des Vosges, the Tuileries and wandering around Saint Germain x
Matilda thanks so much! I will add it all to my list! Oh I can't wait! I'm really enjoying your travel videos too ATM so keep them coming! Merry Christmas x
This is very similar to my own inflight pack, but I prefer packs if miscellar water wipes (like the ones from MAC) and disinfecting wipes to fiddling with liquids and cotton.
I'm litterly obsessed with skin care and for example prefer it so much mmore than makeup so I really enjoy all of your videos, you've got a one new skin care maniac that supports the channel!!😂
Yay we are into the travel journey!! Like you I do decant when I can’t get travel versions especially on a 14 plus hour flight. Why do people wear makeup on long hauls? I decant a Mecca sample size (small) amount of cleansing balm because of sunscreen, my second cleanser is a solid tube and I do these steps in the bathroom with bottled water and my own cotton disposable cloths. I make my own travel size facial spray for ongoing touches of hydration and freshness...Thermal Water sprays especially on planes suck hydration out of your skin by diluting your natural oils BUT all the other stuff you have will put the oils back in 😬 One light lotion, one barrier cream both decanted if like last year I couldn’t get a mini version online. One white truffle oil stick super handy to draw around my face and pat in. I use Sulwhasoo Sleeping Mask at bedtime it’s a cream, decanted but I also chuck in a couple of sheet masks for inflight amusement. Hydration, hygiene and amusement is my goal 💕
My must have when I fly are The Body Shop's Tea Tree Facial Wipes. When waking up from a sleep on the plane my skin always feels yuck. These refresh it so well and make it feel so clean. I do not find they strip my skin or are drying.
Lovely tips Matilda. I am more to natural ingredient when it comes to skincare plus Kiehl's lip balm and Evian face mist are the must. I usually pack into travel mini sized or sometimes beauty sample. Happy Sunday! 😊😊😊
Great flight routine! Lips are my big problem on a plane. I drink tons of water! And I see you and Posh Spice share a love of Weleda Skin Food. Time to add it to my list again. 😊
Yay! I was hoping you would make this video! You introduced me to my HOLY GRAIL GO-TO SKINCARE!!! I wish they shipped all of their products to the rest of the world 😢! But thank you for making this video!
could you do a review on burt’s bees , whichever ones you have , i’m not sure if they contain pertroluem jelly but they have loads of great flavours? x
What brands do you recommend for a good exfoliator for dry skin? I always struggle with finding a good one as they either leave my skin red from how hard they are or they don't do anything.
Unfortunately I never recommend any skincare products because I'm not an expert and everyone's skin is just SO different, but you can see what I use in my Skincare Routine video from last year 👍 Recently I've been enjoying a Caudalie facial scrub too x
I haven't experienced any side effects at all, just super soft skin! Of course, sleeping on a plane is never really as long as a real night's sleep though. Then I remove the excess with Bioderma and a cotton round 👍 x
love the fact that you proritize skincare hygiene and also minimizing the amount of products you're bringing! btw just found out that bioderma comes in a tiny baby bottle omg gotta grab it quick to bring with me in my next trip!
Thank you Jasmine! All about keeping it simple once you're in your seat 👍 This baby Bioderma bottle was actually a sample with an order from GrittyPretty, so I've sadly never seen it sold in this tiny size! x
Oooh travel beauty related videos! I'm traveling on December so for sure to take some notes :) Is it just me that watching your travel videos maks me also feel like I'm traveling?? As always thanks for the weekend fun!!
Great video, I always take bioderma and use the laneige water sleeping mask too. So good for hydrating the skin. I apply a thick layer so probably look very shiny!! Do you ever use any face masks?? If so any recommendations?
Thanks Wendy! My favourite (and only) hydrating mask is the Glossier Moon Mask in this video 👌 I haven't experimented with sheet masks yet, but do enjoy using Go-To's Transformazing although the results are more glowy than hydrating so I don't take it on board x
It's definitely more than five Grace, I fly a lot and have never been picked up for having this many! The total volume of all of the liquids can't exceed 1L (which is 1kg in weight), and the size of the plastic bag you put them all in can't be larger than 20cm x 20cm x
I fly a fair bit so this is my jam! Do you find they make you take your products out of a clear makeup bag and into on of those ziplock bags anyway? Its always a worry of mine. You can buy packs of ziplock bags in different sizes at muji that are really sturdy so I use those. I will use a a moisturiser and double it up as a hand cream (or visa versa with something like Nuxe). There is a great Hada Labo hylaronic acid that comes in a mist that is brilliant so no need for hands and in France you can get tiny hand sanitisers (fragrance or not). I also tend to wipe down the arm rest and tray table with wet wipe and use the Aesop gel spot treatment on blemishes.
Hi Phoebe, I've never been asked to take products out of this Muji pouch! 👍 I even got lucky going through security last weekend when I had my weekend skincare in a Glossier pink pouch (was only flying short haul so didn't think to bring the Muji) and they didn't even question that! Although I've heard others have different experiences with their pink pouches so wouldn't recommend risking it x
I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to leave in the micellar water as it is basically soap micelles.it will clean your skin but not supposed to be left in.
I'm not sure what you mean Lubna, it's not really possible to not leave micellar water on given you only swipe it over your face before continuing the rest of your routine? I don't know the science behind it but I don't think 'basically soap' sounds quite right, it's just a gentle cleansing water x
I had my first skincare routine on a flight to Australia last Nov and I packed everything I need for the long flight. I think as an alternative to chanel hydra beauty cream, clinique moisture surge could do that trick however I only use that if I won't be wearing makeup but it's good for hydrating your skin.
@@matildaonvideo I love wearing it for nighttime. I find that I don't like using it as a day time moisterizer if I am putting on makeup after. It just makes my makeup look weird but as a hydrating moisterizer, it is one of the best for me.
Hey Matilda, love this video. I'm going travelling soon and very curious where you got that little travel jar for the go to face hero?? Is that from muji too??
Sorry Niamh, it was from another skincare brand that's not sold anymore! When I finished the product, I cleaned it out and kept the jar just in case 👍 x
Sorry Marlene, it came in a travel set for a brand that doesn't exist anymore! I used up the product, cleaned the bottle and kept it in case it came in handy 👍 x
Travel minis are usually sold by the brand themselves or in pharmacies, and sample sizes are given out with purchases. My empty mini pots are always from Muji! And the mini oil bottle was from a brand that doesn't exist anymore but I cleaned and kept the bottle 👍 Unfortunately I don't have any tips to share, I've been flying since I was a baby and really enjoy it so don't experience any anxiety before or during! Sorry I can't help x
Hi Matilda - have you ever tried any of The Ordinary's skincare products? I've heard rave reviews but never tried them myself - hear they're really affordable, but just as high quality as higher end products.
Sorry Ash, I tried a couple of The Ordinary products but wasn't that impressed actually! Everyone raves about their hyaluronic acid serum and says it's the same as Super Bounce, but I couldn't stand it - it was gloopy, really sticky on the face and didn't make my skin feel hydrated at all. I'm sticking with Super Bounce because it's so light and refreshing 👍 x
Thanks so much for the quick reply - sorry to hear that they didn't work out for you but super useful to know as, from watching your videos, I have a similar skin type to yourself so I think I'll stick to my korean products :)
I like to do it as soon as I get on board actually Erika! So I start off the flight feeling fresh. Then I repeat steps during the journey, like applying the mask before I sleep or adding more moisturiser 👍 x
Keira is definitely on my list Emily! 👌 Sorry, even though I love Gabrielle Chanel I don't cover historical figures because I don't film tutorials, so a video full of dupes for products that may not exist anymore probably wouldn't be helpful x
I mean the makeup they did for Keira for the coco mademoiselle Chanel fragrance campaign. It’s a very distinct color palette they did a really great job. I’ve been on the hunt for dupes for those colors. Your channel is so informative I love that you focus on the actual product! ❤️
Yes I have! I bought it a long time ago and it was in my Sephora recommendations video in April 😄 It's nice but I wouldn't rave about it, I haven't had crazy soft results like other people x
that was a really smart choice to pick products that doesn’t need water! and when you started to talk about in-flight germs 😩 can’t wait for your travel vlogs! 💕
Unfortunately I'm not an expert Shamina so I can't share any advice, only my personal experience. It varies depending on the length of the flight, but for something over 10 hours, I personally do this routine just before I get on board, once during the flight before sleep, and again just before landing 👍 x
Sorry for the ridiculously late reply - the products in this video aren't makeup wipes, they're just called cotton rounds 👍 Available from almost any drugstore or pharmacy x
Cuteness overload, tiny travel sizes are the best! 😍 I don't have long haul flights, so I never need to pack my skincare like this. If I do, definitely going to try this guide out!
Thank you Pamela! Remember all of my videos aren't a guide though, I'm not an expert and never 'recommend' any products - I just share what I do in case it gives you any inspiration ☺️ x
@@matildaonvideo Yes 🙆🏻♀️ I understand. It definitely gives me inspiration! Thank you for posting videos though. Really helpful in getting to know about certain products ❤
