My mom had a heart problem and was rushed to the hospital when she could have visitors I walked in the room singing "I got a feeling everything is going to be alright" by Rev love! She was rocking her shoulders and dancing!!
David Alan Grier will go down in history among the greatest American comedians. As soon as I see the man's face, I smile. I pray his spiritual life equals his gift of comedy.
David Allen Grier was definitely one of the most entertaining performers on that show. And how ironic does this skit come across today? From farce to true life tragedy. Especially adding his unscrupulous wife.
GITMO4THOMAS2022 GITMO4GINNY2 Lobotomy lab with the both of them. After the electroshock therapy session. First make Clarence witness Trump's firing squad execution. Then his wife's.
@@EchoRhythmMusic there's no question that Jim Carrey is super talented. I think Jim Carrey should portray Billy Graham if they ever make a movie about his life. Jim Carrey is my second choice. You have to give props to Keenen Ivory Wayans. His show produced a lot of superstars. Jennifer Lopez was just a Fly Girl on that show and look how she blew up.
I knew I'd already heard that "the unmitigated gall" line when he did it in The Grinch! Jim Carey is hilarious! I went to see David Allen Grier doing standup about a year before the pandemic. That dude had my ribs hurting I was laughing so hard.
+Pete Patraglia Better be glad you stole us from Africa cause we would of roasted your devil ancestors over well doe and shat you out to dong beetles hence you wouldn't be alive or have someone to hate for nothing. Your insecurity tells you fear black people as they did.
mrbrainchild 76 - I guess in your world view a black man fetching white liberals their coffee is just fine. If a black man does not agree with you what do you call them master?
@@dupersdelight7797 lol haha u mad. Are u making different profiles just to say the same thing. You call this racist but I guarantee you don't think trump is a racist huh?
@@pthesmith still think if you can’t mock and laugh at yourself, you have problems. Humour makes the shit not so shitty, just a bit bearable for a moment or two. Have a good day.
@@cherylklaver7233 I understand the importance of humor. Thomas’s opinions, however, (and those of his conservative counterparts) will have a devastating effect on the lives of women. In other words, comedy is most funny when it mimics real life.
@@pthesmith I agree he is a wort on any justice along with the other four who lied...the irony..so this atrocity could happen. At what point though do we curl up and accept instead of looking whatever demon there is in the eyes, laugh and then work for better. I refuse to let people like him and the whole hateful right...irony again...shut me up or stop me from being heard. And as my mom used to say “there is many a truth told in a joke”. Thank you for exchanging ideas and view points.
It will never be this funny, cuz the funniest comedy doesn't come from a place of privilage and opulence, the best comedy comes from struggle and oppression, the same thing witj most art/music!
I would have to say that Jim Carrey is portraying William Rehnquist who was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at the time that In Living Color was on.
We hoped that deep down inside Clarence Thomas there was a Black man waiting to break free. But we found that deep down there was an angry White man inside Clarence Thomas.
@@DemasSuwitoumsi I'm talking about Uncle Thomas. Thurgood Marshall was a great man who was a voice at the table for minorities. Uncle Thomas not only hated the first Black president but oppose everything Blacks in America care about. So yeah, he has an identity problem.
@@DemasSuwitoumsi My comment was about the comedy skit. In the skit, Thomas realizes he's free to speak his mind and no longer has to try and please his White colleagues. In the skit he defends oppressed minorities in the context of police brutality. That's the Thomas we hoped we would get. What we got is Uncle Thomas. The man is a disgrace to the memory of Thergood Marshall who he replaced. Thomas who voted to let Texas' anti-sodomy law stand but lost now wants to revisit that decision. He's total garbage.
STFU with "ahead of it's time". It's the most overused phrase on YT and now like MANY things, have become irrelevant when used. In Living Color was not "ahead of it's time" because the same issues with society were occurring back then and the show would've been canceled within two weeks if it was aired today. An example of a show "ahead of it's time" is the Richard Pryor Show. If you haven't seen it then search YT for a very few episodes that aired before it was canceled because it was "too much" for some.
In his biography it quotes his future in-laws as saying something to the effect of, “He was so polite, we forgot he was black.” Savage. Can’t imagine what it like in that head of his.
That's how his story should have gone. This sketch shows the respect that the court used to receive: it assumes that once he got settled, he'd behave with authenticity and integrity. Nobody believes that about any of them anymore. I'm not even sure that the current SCOTUS is even spoofable.
Nobody believed that about Thomas back then. The red flags were there. If Biden listened to Anita Hill then, Thomas wouldn't be there as a rubber stamp for Christo-fascism today.
I watched this when I was 8. I could perform this from memory for my aunts and uncles, and it buried deep into my subconscious, and suddenly it's climbing back out now.
