If a successful life mission can be measured in the amount of critical knowledge a man imparts to others, kindness and gentleness of soul and development of possibly life saving skills for many, his success is unparalleled. We are all blessed to have had this man among us.

@@prostarmansd : I tried to go back and watch a video of Mors', and twice now, since I heard of his death... I teared up and just could not watch. Partially because he reminds me of my Dad, and partially because in a sense, Mors was the father of my bushcraft experiences. Just saying...

It is not possible to estimate the value of Mors' teaching through his videos, books and articles. He embodied what it was to be a great teacher. His style was authoritative without being arrogant or overbearing. He spared nothing when it came to details, and thus never glossed over something in order to make the video slicker or more polished. His curiosity and willingness to teach and learn new ways of doing something was never ending. He would as readily recommend a $12 Mora as he would a $200 Skookum, or a coffee can with a wire handle as he would a high end steel pot. In other words: he looked out for everybody. Like all of the great ones, he will never be replaced. Thankfully, he left us a huge legacy behind in terms of instruction. God bless you Mors; may you forever enjoy the great Boreal wilderness in the next life!

One of the wisest, well spoken, concise, and knowledgeable people in the bushcraft community. Losing Mors is like losing a grandfather, calmly passing down his infinite knowledge accumulated over a lifetime to those who would sit and listen. He's left behind a legacy that spans not only his lifetime, but the lifetimes of all he has taught and those who will learn from his students. To me, he was one of the brightest sparks in this community, and there's no other mentor like Mr. Mors Kochanski. This man is kept alive by the techniques that he has passed down, and that is something intangible and legendary. Rest in peace, Mors Kochanski. Thank you for taking the time to share what you know to all who could benefit.

Mors Kochanski's passing is not only a great loss to his family and friends but to the Bushcraft community as a whole. I read his book "bushcraft" as a young man. It was a big reason I got into bushcraft. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure to meet Mors. I did however follow his work over the years. It says a lot about a person when they can have such a positive affect on so many people they have never met. He will truly be missed.

I haven't been online much the last few weeks so this is the first I am hearing of this. I first learned of Mors back in '99. Since then despite never having the chance to meet him, I have greatly enjoyed his writings, DVDs & RU-vid videos. He has become the most influential Wilderness living & survival instructor in my life, and much of what I have learned to him I have shared with youth as well as my own children.Though he has left us he will not be forgotten. Thank you for putting together this video of memories, and to those of you who have lost a dear friend, or mentor I hope knowing the great impact he has had on so many lives has helped you find solace with the departure of this legend. God speed Mors & my prayers for those he has left behind.
