I was a toddler when these folks passed, so not familiar with most of them, but I was struck by how many were born in the mid to late 1800s. Imagine all the change they saw in their lifetimes. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I truly believe people during this era were highly regarded and celebrated for their achievements and place in history through being their authentic selves ratter than marketing and popularity. These people are respected. Not many famous people today are genuinely respected, despite being famous and popular.
Thank you for including Bill Vukovich. Not only did he win the 1953 & 1954 Indianapolis 500s, but he also dominated the 1952 500 until he dropped out with a steering failure while leading the race with less than 10 laps to go. His fatal accident in the 1955 500 occurred while he was leading the race. He very easily could have won the race four years in a row, which has never been done.
Amazing that James Dean talked at length about highway safety and being cautious, given that he, himself, would die in a horrific car-crash. Can't help but wonder if he had experienced a premonition, either in dreams, or while fully awake. He sounded genuinely concerned about the subject.
NO.. HE JUST USED TO DRIVE LIKE A MANIAC. The studio had banned him from driving he was so bad. He was only insured during the making of a movie if he didn't drive.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the dedication and effort you put into each of the Memoriam videos you share on RU-vid. I particularly appreciate the carefully selected background music and the individuals you choose to commemorate.
Shemp was absolutely hilarious in his own right, but I wish that he didn’t have to replace Curly, as I think that Curly was the best stooge there ever was. Sometimes I wonder how the three stooges would have been had Curly lived. Maybe he could have performed with Moe and Larry into the 1960’s.
In Memoriam - thanks. I ❤ your tributes. But you left a name out - Philip Loeb (1891-1955). He was Jake Goldberg on The Goldbergs. But he was blacklisted and committed suicide.
Frank Seiberling, Katharine Drexel, and Oscar F. Meyer may be the first people who had been born in the 1850s to appear in one of these videos. It's amazing to think that James Dean would now be in his 90s.

In Memoriam - if possible, please go back through your tributes to revise them with missing names. I know you revised a previous tribute for the better. Thank you.
I am doing that but it's not as simple as making a quick change. I'm improving the older videos that I first uploaded with better graphics, audio clips, and of course making any corrections or additions that I missed.
