In Mongolia, A Changing Nomadic Way Of Life

Mongolia is home to one of the world's few remaining nomadic cultures, with some 40 percent of the population raising animals on the steppes. But economic and social changes are forcing many Mongolians to leave their traditional ways behind. Migrants are arriving in the cities by the thousands, while others have turned to the booming mining industry in search of a better life.

Horses are so important to Mongolians because of their stamina all through their body. They are great for travelling in the nomadic life and they tread very steadily on uneven terrain. There's the answer to your question. Tom Mooney

My beautiful country is fantastically beautiful out of big cities such Ulan-Bator - the capital.In provinces,where open landscaping is in front of you in theirs fascinating views for what thousands of tourists visit,come to Mongolia:just to run into the virgin nature of my country! Late 2 years Mongolia is dramatically changing in good ways:mining,building the rail-roads, roads between provinces...Oh! Lots of changes even we lost numbers to count them. Of course,Mongolia has ups and downs as every elsewhere.Just take your time,plan a trip and visit my beautiful country! You'd have no regret to do that.

Great work. Mongolian Ger is a important part of the Mongolian nomadic culture which is more suitable for rural areas. However, I got one in my backyard in Australia and using it as a culture room.

While it may not be as comfortable as modern life in urbanized environments, I feel that it provides a sustainable way for humans to live in harmony with the world, rather than just taking its resources
@Jizzfrosti

Hua Zhou I understand that, but the genocides that resulted from the mongol rule are more resulting from their leaders rather than their culture. I feel the independent nomadic lifestyle is an amazing thing and needs to be preserved. And while I would love to see the Mongolian people flourish, its is really hard to condone them joining china where there are such difficult human rights problems coming from there at the moment.

Not really. Horses are kind of sacred animal for us. You can see horse on our national Emblem which means its our symbol. Its our Spiritual belief that horses are given to us by the Father Blue Sky. There are a lot of Horse Myth, Song and Folklores in our history. So as Elizabeth Kendall, said: "A Mongol without a horse is like a bird without the wings.". Thanks

And those old traditions mean freedom something most people know nothing of the unspoken slavery of free society is you work most of your life away to keep up the conveniences of life like this phone I'm on or the insurance companies and utilities and taxes and much more people just never notice how good life could be off the grid 😎
@Erika-yi1fj
@Erika-yi1fj 5 лет назад
While I see what you mean and agree in away, be careful not to romanticize their lives. It's a hard life! Their survival depends on their skill and work ethic by working around the house, taking care and butchering animals, finding or growing veggies from the land, preparing for the season changes,. That is also a full time job and not working = death. Being lazy or unskilled can kill you and your family. It's a self sustaining type of living and you are responsible for your survival!

Mongolians are claimed as America's so called indians.

The Seer What? They never called the Mongolians or the Malamute people of Alaska or the Inuit people of Canada Indians. They once called the Native American people and Canada’s First Nation people Indians. They never claimed the Siberian people Indians. And Mongolians are well there own group even though there well ethnicity is Siberian which kinda looks like a mix between Asians and European but they are there own people.
@yulyasevelova769
@yulyasevelova769 2 года назад
Well, American anthropology is find of that line of thinking. While there's some similarity in a few things, and contact of some kind way back, Natives in the West have their own look, and political systems that are so different. Native American leaders were very good people,for the most part. They believed in serving their people,rather than the love of power and glory that has been a plague for Asian countries ! To the American anthropologists, I'd like to ask, are you certain that you should go there ?? Because if they do choose to keep it up, payback is due,if it's actually true.💀
