Was jt really a national park before Mozambique became independent in the mid 1970s? When Mozambique was a Portuguese overseas province, i.e. a colony? That was the source of the civil war there during the 1960s and 70s, followed by South African interference.

How would this translate to our own country, U.S.A. for Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota? ALL the Native Reservations who are much less off than these folks?

Scott and Greg, tell the truth. Thanks for coming back to seemingly be the savior. What happened when the $$ was flowing in the first place. This generation is blinded thinking that you are indeed great. Tell them why their forefathers had to fight in the first place. Tell them how HIV got there. Tell them where the animals went. Tell them where the $$ went from the glorious days. It is one thing to start a fire and it is entirely another thing to pretend to put out something that you started. These innocent souls are paying a price that they did not deserve in the first place. Poverty is costing lives and will claim even more. The real test will be seen 20years from now. Is this truly a humanitarian effort or another investment opportunity motivated by greed in the innocent eyes of suffering humanity. Call me a skeptic but I will trust when I see it. For 243years, their brothers and sisters paid a price somewhere. It is still happening today.

If only more of the super-rich would devote some of their fortunes to this kind of work - helping restore precious ecosystems and providing opportunities to local communities (especially women and girls) - instead of indulging in ridiculous vanity projects, like sending pointless rockets into space. Imagine the difference that Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and all the other billionaires could make to the future of our planet if they spent some of their billions on projects like that in Gorongosa?

Aren’t grasslands more effective carbon sinks than trees? Trees and forests are ecological treasures, but when you put them in assuming they’re carbon sinks and trading them for pollution credits while they’re not behaving as carbon sinks, emissions may not decrease as much as we hope.

It is so comforting to know that the U.S. has solved all of its own problems, to the point of being able to send six million dollars to this backwater. I sure wish they would send me six million dollars. I'm sure there are a lot of people sleeping under bridges or on steam grates on sidewalks who wish the same.
