When you will to kill is stronger than your compassion, you simply won't decide who gets to die, including yourself.
I think you misinterpreted what she said. In the Gorongosa park they are trying to recover all species, not just lions. Please check their website, they are doing a great job, with herbivores as well. She was just stating that the snares put by the poachers are meant for other animals, but it affects the lions too.
