A lot of you have requested gardening videos and so, I am starting this new series for 2023. Gardening is relaxing, it's therapy and yes, it is healing.
Every week, I will post a video featuring the work I have done in my garden on the previous week. These videos are different because they are strictly montage over music and ASMR sounds. I chose this format to feature nature and the work it takes to build and maintain a garden. It is not about me. It is about the process. I hope you find these to be relaxing and inspiring videos.
A little bit about me:
I grew up in a family of master gardeners. Both my grandmother and my mother are avid gardeners and in my mother's case, she still digs and scratches the dirt at the young age of 86. I never really learned how to garden, I just know I always wanted to have one. When we purchased our property in 2010, we did not know the yard would have a huge water problem. Between clay soil, run-off from the hill, an undisclosed source and the water table being displaced each time a neighbor would dig a basement addition or a pool...percolation was slow, weeds flourished.
About 3 years ago, I built a French drain with a dry well. My neighbor also added a dry well on his property. Fast forward 3 years, and I am now able to enjoy my yard. So, I built a fence, a vegetable garden, using the back to Eden gardening method, and started creating flower beds as well. It is a work in progress, and I am nowhere near done. What I lack in knowledge and experience, I compensate in energy and will-power.
This is my journey to create the oasis and respite I always wanted for myself and my family.
Enjoy!

My 23 year old son was with me while I was watching you working. He saw you pick up the palette and said wow mom she's just like you. I said awww son that's the nicest thing you have ever said to me.😂😂😂😂😂😂this series should get an award for public service. Brings our blood pressure down, motivates us AND apparently compliments family relationships

Gardening is wonderful, it is something you can do your whole life and brings such peace, beauty and bounty. My Dad learned from his mother and I learned from my Dad. I use to ride with him on Saturday mornings out to the local Asian truck farms. He would buy top soil, vegetables, plants, mulch. I am the oldest of six and we didn’t always get a lot of individual time so this was a great way for me to spend some time with my Dad, time I will always cherish.

I would love to see what you create from your beautiful vegetables. I get joy from my garden every time I say to my husband, everything you are eating is from the garden except the meat. 😊 And may I say - go Willie! Great job!

The front garden is looking really well prepared for your planting scheme. You did a great job. It is nice to see you have used up your large pile of wood mulch too. Still love looking at your bird cam footage as it’s so relaxing to watch.

Your garden is beautiful and the front yard is looking so much better. I would move your hydrangeas back further into the yard so they don't crowd the entrance and they can be viewed better. It will also make it better to see the plants you're planting along the sidewalk. Great job!

Thanks for sharing another wonderful video! I think that word has circulated in the bird community that there is a new 5 star restaurant in town! You have such a wide variety of birds. Amazing! I love your "plan" for the front of your home. Were the lavender bushes going to be lilac? That is one flower I miss out here in CA.

Garden is great veggies look so good. Front yard plan is beautiful now how is the Rose of Sharon doing? Good to see Willie helping out with the yard. Lots of birds did you notice how mean the red bird was to the little ones? That's why I don't care for them, same thing happens here.

Cardinals are territorial but to be honest the sparrows are no better, they re constantly bickering. The rose of Sharon survived a rabbit nibbing at its blooms. I put repellent balls. Seems to be working.

Well, your lawn isn't going to take very long to mow now! I just spent 3 1/2 hours weeding at my mom 's house, came home, took a shower and now I'm watching you working outside! Don't know why, but I'm thinking maybe I should go outside and listen to my own birds... too tired!
