It's only bad luck if you take it down past the 12th day of Christmas. However I found a loophole if you keep them up until next Christmas, you can try again without any unfounded luck worries imposing you.
Thing that comes to mind is malicious compliance. They very well might be trying to keep everyone safe, but at the expense of everyone else's rights and wellbeing.
People upload their videos, RU-vid hosts them but then tries to inject advertising, people figure out workarounds. It’s nothing but data, after all. Google doesn’t own any of it & we don’t need to play “make believe” that they do have any ownership.
Perfect timing with RU-vid rolling out double ad breaks at the beginning of videos. As in watch 5 seconds, skip adS have to watch another 5 seconds, skip adS or double unskippable ads.
RU-vid managers - "People seem to be blocking ads for some reason... I know what will fix this.... Quickly. Double the ads!" Me - "I didn't mind when it was 1 ad and you shared the revenue. Maybe try that again?"
It's been revealed that it's working. They're driving hoards of people to pay for premium because the ad supported version is utterly intolerable. Subscriptions have become much more profitable than ad revenue on YT.

Maybe I'm ill informed on what they do quietly, or that it tends to be tech news that I follow, but a case against Microsoft almost 30 years ago over IE, then some concerns more recently over them buying Activision Blizzard. Finally going after Google over ads is I suppose positive, but will wait and see what the outcome of that will look like. Not exactly a stellar list of cases. Then the fines if anything, mean so little to those companies that could be called a rounding error. One upside is that it makes what the EU is doing or trying to do, look pretty impressive in comparison. Not just that they can have multiple cases going on at the same time, but when it gets to issuing a fine, it can be up to 5 or 10% of yearly revenue, not just profit

If the people, government, local companies, lawyers, or national corporations make you sign a document or use a shrink-wrap contract on you, then YES, you are told how you must live your lives or be punished according to TOS or contract terms. @@witherschatHmm, libertarians have been telling me that regulations actually tend to create monopolies. One example David Knight, a libertarian said on his podcast was how the big banks would lobby for banking regulations that smaller rural banks couldn't comply with because they lacked the money that big banks had/and still have so they folded and were bought by the big banks. And then these same banks would lobby to have those regulations eased after they gobbled up the competition. The same happened with the big department and warehouse store chains. The mom and pop shops could not comply with the regulations because they didn't have the money. And there are other crony capitalist moves like bailouts for the rich whenever a big corporation is on the verge of bankruptcy or the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) or DARPA directly or indirectly funding the creation of the internet, FB, Google, Twitter and other ventures. We don't live in a free market system because we don't have a limited government. That is why lobbying is a career job just like being a politician.
@Aquatarkus96 Do you think that Citizens United gave corporations and unions the ability to give money to federal political candidates? Because it didn't. That's the only way I can see someone making a statement like "money isn't speech" in regards to Citizens United. The case actually involved a group that was prevented from broadcasting a political attack against a candidate. The people who wanted to retain this right of censorship attempted to reduce it to a question of money since obviously almost everyone would have to pay in order to get their message out, but at the end of the day, it really was about speech and the ability to get a particular message out. Using the same "money isnt speech" reduction, you could pretty much censor any type of political speech you wanted from just about anyone you wanted outside of direct person to person speech since pretty much anything, including what i am typing to you right now, could be argued is spending money on political speech since I paid for internet access to be able to post this comment which is discussing politics. It could get very ugly very fast if people you disagree with were the ones who got to decide what counts and what doesn't.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 From the moment they're lobbying, it's the money making the rules. If they have that power, they already have an effective monopoly. It's the same thing as dropping your price and selling at a loss to drive competition out before getting them back up. If they can do that, they are in practice a monopoly. The problem here isn't regulations, it's the fact that you can buy regulations with money. Another issue with the American economy that can be traced back to Reagan.

That is why i think your cause is so important as you are fighting for "all" the people. For that i sincerely thank you.
It does trickle down to Europe, but slowly the EU is doing the same and it trickles down to the US A story as old as time, gargantuan bureaucracies will always win against gargantuan companies, and at least in some regards the EU bureaucracy is less incompetent when it comes to privacy and ownership rights
@LudwigVaanArthans you are right. I am thankful that although present, lobbying isn't as effective in Europe. That and the entire bureaucracy machine is hindered by the individual country laws, local lobbies and political self-interest. However social media is slowly eroding the younger generations making all of us overall more accepting and tolerant of the violation of our rights and privacy. And it is happening across many other industries other than big tech such as the most basic infrastructure, food production. Agriculture is being high jacked from so many fronts that farmers can't keep up. From rights to repair issues on equipment to patented seeds, from legislation to supermarket chains artificially manipulating prices. At the end of the day, it's a consequence of big conglomerates violating our rights and limiting our choices in the name of profits and self-interests.
Unfortunately, the EU has it's own issues with fascism ("corporatism" if you prefer, or even "Chinese State Capitalism"). I vaguely recall an absolute farce of EU regulation regarding Intellectual Property where individuals were stripped of their rights in some fashion, while the "regulators" favored their benefactors ... Of course, I can't find it any longer due to my search results of "EU scandal" being flooded with results. 😆

Do you expect RU-vid to be un-sold to Google, somehow? The one thing that could happen is that the platform becomes marginally better in one characteristic, like making ads have 5% less malware or some shit: enough to appease the users, not enough to fix core issues present.
@@nathanjohnson7290 Walking requires having legs. RU-vid has semi-amputated tentacles in that analogy. Sure, you can make it take a "step", but it won't ever really "walk" as much as it will crawl senselessly in different directions (or, more concretely, it will crawl in the direction of profit). The core business model, structure and organization of RU-vid is corrupt. There's no real fixing it without building it from the ground up. RU-vid won't start caring about their creators more than about their money no matter what creators do, because earning (or, not losing) money is RU-vid's core incentive. Google won't stop selling data they collect on you to advertisers without stopping to exist, because that's literally their business model. Yes, YT can fix SOME issues present without completely changing. Making ads have a little more quality-control would be something doable. Not constantly harassing their creators would be something doable. But at the core, RU-vid must hold interests opposite to their users due to the nature of the economic system it resides within (capitalism). As long as exploitation is incentivized, exploitation will occur.
